Nightmare in New Orleans
I was staying in The Sheraton New Orleans from 08/26-08/29/21. The check In process was long due to the fact my reservation was cancelled in error . Next the city had to evacuate due to hurricane IDA. I believe they handled the evacuation process horrible. I was traveling from Michigan and asked to extend my stay due to my plane cancelled and I had no where to go. The hotel clerk advised they cannot extend my stay and did not offer an alternative. I was forced to go to the airport and was told to leave if I did not currently have a flight. I was left in the streets of New Orleans with no place to reside until I can fly out to Michigan. I had to pay a shuttle driver an enormous rate to drive me out of New Orleans to Pensacola Florida. I think a large hotel chain should have an evacuation process in place to discuss with their guests. My recommendation is not to travel and stay at this hotel from June 1-October 31 hurricane season or you may be left out in the street.
Vehicle break in - valet parking service
Please don’t use their valet parking service unless you completely empty your vehicle. We were traveling to Florida and spent the night 8/12. Our vehicle was ransacked and had lots of missing items. Shame on us for trusting them this trip ~ they just denied our claim and we still had to pay for two rooms and the parking fee. We had already tipped them $25 before we realized what happened. I would be satisfied if I received a refund for our stay but even that has not been addressed when I asked.
I am extremely disappointed with the service I received after I checked out of my hotel. A few days after I checked out I saw on my bank account statement that I was charged for my three night stay. However I had already paid this with my vacation package through Jet Blue. The service I received from the hotel in order to rectify this was sub par at best. I was told they would send a message to accounting and the funds would be in my bank the following week. When I called to follow up I was told I could not speak to the manager and that everything was all set. I am currently still in the process of trying to be refunded.
No maid service, pool out of service and expensive parking
We have stayed with Sheraton many times. I love their hotel. The problem I have with this one in particuliar. There is no parking. You will be charged $50 a night for parking. We didn't find that out until we checked in. Also the pool was closed down. That would have been a deal breaker, It was my birthday we bought new swimsuits to relax and enjoy the pool. We haven't had a vacation since the pandemic. We were very dissapointed. I called the front desk when I seen the sign in front of the pool entrance. The lady at the front desk said she had a list of other hotel pools we could use for $20 each WHAT! There were four of us so $80. I'm already paying for that amenity at this hotel which I did not get. Now you want me to pay twice. You will notice bags of trash in the halways because their is no maid service unless you request it, keep that in mind. Very dissapointed
room clean. staff helpful with check in and local attractions. covid protocol in place.
Good experience. Pleasant staff. Room comfortable. Daily housekeeping. Attractive lounge but limited beverages. Easy check-in and checkout. Bourbon Street in walking distance. Many shops close by. Close to Harrah's casino.
