    Amazing Vacation

    Travelled mid October for a weeks vacation. The hotel was spotless and the staff were great. You are served at the buffets now, but it is not an inconvenience. We wished the liquor was still included in the rooms considering it’s in class cases. Shout out to Yoda & Shawntel for making our trip that much more.

    It was good but needs more sport activities...but otherwise i enjoyed the entertainment and the lovely peoples. The waitresses ere well mannered and attentive.The hotel and surroundings were beautiful and i surely enjoyed my stay there.

    Can't wait to go back!

    I'm typically not a fan of all-inclusive resorts and have had bad experiences with them in the past, however, Riu Reggae in Montego Bay set the bar high. The staff was amazing and all super friendly, the food was amazing and had great options for local cuisine, the property was incredibly clean, and the entertainment team was great. I will definitely be returning here next time I'm in Montego Bay.

    Disappointing

    When we arrived we are greeted with a welcome drink and checked in quickly and easily. I had enquired about upgrading prior to arrival however had received a limited response that did not answer my questions. On arrival I again queried as it was our 10 year wedding anniversary the day we arrived and wanted to make sure we had the most memorable, amazing stay. The receptionist immediately said we do not offer upgrades for anniversaries and was quite abrupt about. At no time had I asked for them to upgrade us FOC, Id enquired about the rooms types available and the cost so did not appreciate how abrupt she was about it. This did upset me as we have stayed in Riu hotels before and no matter what the request have always received and helpful and welcoming arrival. We then made our way to our room, on entering the room I was immediately shocked and unhappy as it smelt like was I standing in the middle of a dirty ashtray. This was meant to be a nonsmoking hotel so why it smelt the way it did was unbelievable. I immediately called down to reception as I was not willing to sleep in a room that smelt that badly and if cleaned and aired properly should not smell that strongly of smoke even if the previous guests had smoked in there. I asked to be moved and expressed how unhappy I was with the arrival and now the room and that this is the worst way to start our holiday and on our 10 year wedding anniversary also. The member of staff I spoke to asked if I had proof it was our 10 year anniversary for some reason, again something I’ve never been asked before. I said no as I don’t tend to carry my certificate however the date of our wedding is engrave in both of our rings, which they had no interest in, so feel this was pointless requesting. We was then left waiting in this awful room for 20 minutes with no bags or anything so could not get changed out of our travelling cloths, it got to a stage where I had to call and chase. We was both hot, bother and upset. Finally there was a knock at the door and a member of staff was there to show us another room. The other room was cleaner although the view was shocking therefore we still was not happy as not one single request had been granted and at this point I was wishing we had not booked this hotel. We got changed and went and looked around, had dinner and got an early night. The next day we woke up fresh and early and watched the sunrise which was beautiful and so peaceful. The hotel grounds were well maintained and clean and the beach was lovely too as you would expect for Jamaica. We had the use of both the Reggae and the Montego Bay which was nice. Our first day was enjoyed around the pool area and then come lunch time we was excited to try some jerk chicken and pork on the beach. We was not disappointed it was absolutely delicious, as expected! It was served with rice & peas and corn. The corn was unreal, cooked in coconut milk and it the tastiest corn we’d ever eaten and complimented the jerk chicken and rice. In fact we enjoyed it that much we had jerk every lunch time, by the end of the holiday we was all jerked out haha!! Come the evening time we tried every restaurant they hotel had to offer and they were all nice, accept the Japanese this was did not enjoy at all and left most of the food we tried. The main buffet always had a good selection so worst case if we didn’t enjoy the other restaurants we had the buffet to fall back on. The restaurant and bar staff were all really nice, welcoming, friendly and helpful, The one that stuck out the most was Claudia, she was so lovely and greeted us each day by our names, how she remembered is beyond me with how busy the hotel was. She knew exactly what drinks we liked and made sure we had a nice table, daily she went above and beyond and helped make our holiday. After spending a couple of nights in the room we had been moved too, we med other couples that were not celebrating anything special however had contacted the hotel prior to say they was. On arrival their room had been fully decorated and they were also offered a discounted room rate to upgrade. As you can imagine I was not impressed especially as we were actually celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. I contacted reception and of course they given every excuse under the sun and once again found them to be very rude. I decided to email the manger who after time eventually offered us a discount to upgrade our room but advised for us to wait until the next day as there was currently no rooms with good views available and he did not want me to be disappointed. We waited the 24 hours as recommended and went to reception to ask to view the room with the best view, the lady walked us up to the room, once again its smelt so badly of cigarettes and the view was nonexistent. I was getting more and more upset by the minute as this was wasting time on our holiday and the staff not doing what I was advised they would. We walked back down the long corridors to reception and asked to give them time to find another room. I asked to speak to the manager I had been dealing with and showed her the email correspondence however she was not interested. We later came back again to view another room. I cant say we was overly impressed with this room neither, all very basic but the view was a lot better, the smell was bad again though. I asked them to deep clean the room to ensure it did not smell of smoke and that I would come back later to check the rom prior to moving our things and paying. After hours and hours of waiting the room was finally ready and we moved our things and tried to enjoy the rest of the day as best we could. The manger also offered for us to enjoy a romantic meal at the luxury sister hotel (Riu Palace) next door however at a cost of $150, we agreed as wanted to celebrate our special anniversary and the hotel next door looked amazing. When we arrived for our meal we was asked to move on as we was not guests at the hotel, we explained we had a meal booked here and that we had paid and pre ordered our food. We was asked to wait and while waiting another member of staff came over to ask us to leave. You can imagine how annoying and upsetting this was. After around 10 minute the waiter came back and apologized and showed us to our table. It was stunning, decorated beautifully and so romantic and the staff serving us were lovely, so helpful and friendly and really went out of their way to apologize and make our evening special. All in all we had a great holiday and loved Jamaica so much we cant wait to go back. I would not stay at this hotel again purely because of how the reception staff were and the poor service they provided. This really let the hotel down. Also the pools were not the cleanest and one day someone was sick in two of the three pools and they closed to be cleaned and shocked with chlorine. The next day I expected them to be really clean and again ready to use but no there was some horrible griminess floating around and it looked disgusting. It was clear it had not been cleaned properly and I was not swimming back in there until it was which took days. We made do with the beach which was fine but I expected better. Other than reception all the other staff and entertainment team were so lovely, kind and welcoming.

    Great fun resort

    Good service and plenty of activities, food quality could be a little better but most days food is fresh and good. Rooms are clean. Beverages could be more high proof. Bartenders and services worker were great
