Courtney the courtesy clerk
Our courtesy clerk Courtney took care of us the entire time. She always greeted us with a beautiful smile and graciously checked up on our needs and wants. Courtney made us feel special in a busy and changing environment. She had great info on places to go and shops to check out. She and the Royal Sonesta crew helped made our trip fun and comfortable. The hotel was beautiful, clean, with great food and fun drinks (frozen daiquiri bar was amazing).
Duped by Sonesta
4.5 Star price and advertising and no attempt to work thru COVID and provide any service. No one will answer a phone if you need a roll of toilet paper or shop or extra towel or wash cloth and half a roll is supplied with 2 of each towels, wash cloth and han towel. When you do go down to.inquire which you should not have to ....RUDE. Never again
This hotel has a lot of issues for sure. Management needs to have a meeting with the staff to talk about hospitality. First, we arrived by car at the Bourbon Street entrance via our GPS direction. There was no one to greet us or to attend to our bags. We then left our vehicle parked in front of the hotel to check in and while we were checking in our car was ticketed by police and we were given a $30 parking fine. We told the front desk about what occurred and asked to talk to the manager. The front desk clerk did not seem to care that we were were given a parking ticket - she showed absolutely no empathy and was cold and rude. She then told us that the manager was not in but that she would convey our message to the hotel manager and ask the manager to call us. Needless to say - the manager never called us. In addition, when we got to our room there was no toilet paper or hand soap in our bathroom. A very poor experience for sure.
Poor service and sub par staff!
Upon arrival no doorman to provide parking info. The front desk was going through the motions and didn’t welcomed us there or cracked a smile. She never asked if we needed valet or provided any parking info. By the time we checked in and dropped off our bags at the room we came outside to a parking ticket. We went back inside to be told to drive around the block to the parking garage for valet. When we first entered our room there we no basic amenities such as toilet paper and hand soap. We asked the front desk to have the hotel manager call us to discuss our experience which she said she would do, but the manager never called. The hotel seemed not to be fully open as the Jazz bar was only open one night. We walked to hotels on Royal Street to fully functioning with doorman and valet. Upon leaving early morning for our flight no valet was present in the parking garage even though we had just checked out. The front desk should have called ahead for valet and our car. We had to get the attention of a cleaning staff employee to call for a valet. Don’t waste your money on the Royal Sonesta and spend it at one of the much more welcoming and full service hotels on Royal Street!!
Highly recommended - get a balcony!
I can not say enough how much we enjoyed our staff. Valet parking was easy and the staff was friendly. Check in was quick and we went to our Bourbon Balcony. The room was small but nicely decorated with a large TV and a comfy bed. The balcony was amazing!! It was a huge wrap around and no one else was staying in any rooms there so we had the whole thing to ourselves. Yes it is noisy but it was so much fun! The hotels location is perfect and you are walking distance to everything in the quarter. The food onsite was not my favorite and it was very high prices. Across the street is a great Beignet place with breakfast and lunch. They had jazz players in the morning. I would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again .
