Spring Break 2021
We vacationed April 4-10 and it was AMAZING!!! I booked through the website originally for 2020 but, due to covid, had to reschedule my trip a few times. Had to call in every time to reschedule but learned that the non-refundable rate allows me to do that. I tried to check in online to reserve my room and a la cartes and couldn’t do it when the time came. I found a loophole where I clicked ‘check in’ instead of going through ‘my Bahia principe’ which allowed me to book my a la cartes but not room reservation. I called and was told to email. I emailed and was told to check in even though I told them I couldn’t. I didn’t use the shuttle transportation as I flew into Cozumel. When arriving at the resort, it wasn’t clear where the queue was since it looked like there could be multiple lines. I finally got to the representative who indicated my check in information was not done. They had also already chosen my room in building 18. Unfortunately, the room didn’t work as it contained 2 double beds and my husband is too tall so they then moved us to building 22. Mind you I had asked for an oceanfront or upgraded room when I first got to the rep and was told they can’t guarantee that. Before heading to our room, we were given an appointment for our covid test (more on that in a bit). We opted for Friday as we were leaving on Saturday. When we got to our room, it was AMAZING!!!! Great ocean view, right next to kids water park, kids club, kids playground and the pool nearby. LOVED this location. The room had 2 bathrooms (one with whirlpool tub and the other with a shower) and 2 toilets. The couch in the living room could be pushed back to make a bed and a trundle underneath that got pulled out and pushed up to make a large bed. These beds were not connected so be aware that it will separate. I had 3 kids (9, 7, and 5) sleeping on these and they were permanently set up this way. We then went to the buffet and were very surprised as we’re from California and are spoiled when it comes to Mexican food (or just food in general). We loved the food so much that I think we found our resort in Mexico!! It also helps that they never once mentioned ‘presentation’ but I believe they had reps for that in the lobby if you’re interested. We also booked the gran tortuga, don pablo, and Yucatán for a la cartes. I have to say that the food was good in these restaurants but I was disappointed that gran tortuga wasn’t a churrasco experience. We bought a $20 bottle of wine at Don Pablo and received an extra slab of steak (kinda tough) and a special dessert (see pic). Our fav was Yucatán as it was buffet and the food was SO GOOD!!! We attended the magic show, rock show, and Origen. We missed Mexican fiesta night as I didn’t know when it was and we had an a la carte reservation that night. Origen is an extra charge and you must purchase at the lobby and receive a band. They didn’t tell us this and we had stood in line when they informed us. The shows were all amazing and the rock show was simply a rock concert. Chairs were also spaced apart for covid. I also want to mention that the kids club puts out a kids show if your kids participate in the club (mine didn’t). There was a car rental kiosk between the lobby and buffet and we rented a car for a day to go to coba and cenotes as it was cheaper. The lot where the car is parked is just behind the kiosk so super close. On Friday, we checked into the lobby for our covid test and they called the clinic. Clinic said they were available (this was during our reservation time so I found this odd). We were then told to go to the clinic which we knew was in the hacienda. We walked as we didn’t see a tram available and we wanted to make it there ASAP and it wasn’t far. The clinic is to the right in the main area once entering the doors of the hacienda. We went in and checked in to find that they had entered one passport number incorrectly. Thankfully I had pics of the passports to prove it or else I would have had to go back to the room. The test was quick and we were given our negative results verbally 15 minutes later. We were then emailed the results later that night. All in all a FANTASTIC trip!! We were planning to go to a different country next trip but we have since changed our minds and return to Bahia! Mind you we NEVER choose the same resort and we travel A LOT!!
Ehhhh not the best, not horrible either
Honestly, this wasn’t my first choice of hotel. But I came with a diverse bachelorette party so we tried to make everyone happy. Pros: The overall price Pool entertainment Staff in the buffet- they were so kind! And work so hard The hotel grounds were nice and clean and well kept. Night entertainment was good, they had stuff for everyone Cons: Rooms could use a little refreshing Front desk really needs to be clearer on instructions to the hotel guide....Entertainment, reservations etc The kids! I know this is a family hotel but can we please add an adults only pool for people like me lol The restaurants- we were only allowed to make reservations for 2 places but we spent 4 nights. I don’t understand why an all inclusive resort only allows you to dine 2 times in the ala carte restaurants. That left us eating alsmot everyday in the buffet and that place got tired after the first day. We couldn’t eat the fried pool food or buffet any longer. So overall food was a disappointment. The covid testing area was a mess! The place never received our reservation, not sure whose fault that was (front desk?) but that line and process took a nice 30-45 mins. Just way unorganized compared to all the other places I have traveled too. The pool bar was annoying, had to get out of the pool and go upstairs to get drinks, not to mention they were beyond watered down. If you are looking to stay in the town of Tulum where all the clubs are then DON’T stay here. The traffic took us 1 hour every night back and forth and $80 each way.. wasn’t worth it, we should of stayed in Tulum. Overall, I wouldn’t come back. But it was a nice quick getaway and thanks for the hospitality!
Great resort for families
We returned last week from Bahia Principe Grand Tulum. We stayed there for 17 days and it was amazing! 1. The resort is spacious, the rooms are very clean and they have Kids Club, which our 5 year old daughter enjoyed for at least 12 days. They have a lot of fun activities and every night there is a show for kids. The team is very dedicated, caring and passionate about what they are doing. Thank you Gabi, Denisse, Yaros, Roy, Elaine, Nadia, Valeria and Stephanie. Also, thank you Maria and Gabriel for entertainment. They have tons of activities every day for adults as well. 2. The food is delicious and there are a lot of options. The staff is very, very friendly. Antonio, Victor, Samuel, Denis - just a few names of great servers there. Mr G from Mexican restaurant (Tequila) is also great. There are 4 restaurants a la carte. We liked Mexican restaurant and Don Pablo the most. 3. Thank you Christian (room service), the bell boy and the cleaning lady (Lucy). You're doing an amazing job there! As other people also commented: the hotel is clean, most of the rooms are renovated recently (we had a renovated room, ocean view) and they are disinfecting continuously in the common area. I felt safe with my 5 year old and my 5 month old baby and my husband. 4. All the pools are clean. In regards to the beach, there are seaweed, but the staff was cleaning the beach every day. Also, we had a few windy days, but that did not bother us. Great value for the money we spent. We can't wait to go back in November.
Great visit in this all inclusive resort with family
Great stay at Tulum for our first trip out of the country with the whole family. We stayed at this location due to the brand new kids area that consists of a water park, play ground, splash pad and the Kids Club, that offers children 4-12 many options for activities, crafts and games. The staff in the Kids Club are very welcoming and make sure your kids are having a great time. Both rooms have a bathroom and a TV. The main room, usually the "living room" area, has a pull out couch that is surprisingly comfortable, no springs in your back. The other room could have either 2 full beds or 1 king bed. My only issue with the rooms were that there were no clocks at all or coffee makers and due to COVID, no room service or easy access to coffee. The grounds and beaches are being worked on ALL day and they are extremely clean and well manicured. When we were there a few days ago, the beaches were full of seaweed. There were people shoveling, scooping and raking ALL day. The multiple pools are also super clean but sometimes the stairs can be slippery. The kids area is also clean, no matter what. The food options are a plenty as well. There are 3 areas that have smaller meals and there is a grand buffet and with kids, the buffet is the way to go for breakfast and or dinner, rather than the a la carte restaurants, because you get the food ASAP. The a la carte restaurants food is super quality, however, if traveling with older children or all adults. The staff all over the resort are, simply put, amazing!!!! Every single person that works there is so friendly. All the staff wear a mask at all times. There are hand sanitizer stations all over the place. Very aware of the current pandemic and handling it wonderfully. All in all it was a great stay!!!!
Perfect for families
We’re back from an amazing week at Tulum. It’s perfect for families with small children. All the new water park features, kids pools, and the excellent playground kept the kids busy and still discovering new things to do even on our 5th day there. We had 2 rooms in villa 14 (suite, and a premium superior). All requests were granted and the rooms and location were perfect. The open concept bathrooms really are not as bad as people were complaining about. The doors are frosted and wouldn’t be able to see inside unless you are really trying to. The suite has a separate second bathroom with a traditional door and a tub. The suite is huge! Really the size of two connected superior rooms. We got 2 a la cart reservations at La Grand Tortuga and at Don Pablo. Both restaurants were excellent. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I wish we could have returned to one of them for a third night but I understand limiting the dinners. It allows for better food quality, and that really shows at this resort. So good. We definitely plan to return again next year!
