    I had a good time. The staff was really nice. Especially Rey and Farid. Lot of activities and stuff to do on the resort. Beautiful resort and the staff was very engaging. Look for Rey and Farid if you go.

    Do not stay at Sunscape Akumal

    We had to have our travel agent intervene to have us changed to a different resort for health and safety reasons. Black mold is everywhere. Bathrooms are unsafe not working. Managers placate, not fix.

    Dissapointing

    I just returned back from a stay at Sunscape and would likely not return unless there were some major improvements made. I booked the 4 day, 3 night trip for me and my daughter directly through the website, including airfare and airport transportation. To start, I paid for non-stop transportation to/from the hotel--meaning I would be the first dropped off and the last picked up so I would not have to wait for other travelers at other resorts. I ended up being the third group of passengers dropped off at the hotel after arrival. I was not provided a credit or a refund for the upgraded service I paid for and did not receive (Amstar was the company). I booked a Deluxe Ocean View room. This room was TINY. The mini fridge was not reliably clean. The room itself looked like it was in great need of a refresh on all fronts (paint, flooring, draperies, fixtures). I could see the ocean only if I walked out onto the uncovered concrete patio and craned around. This patio would not be usable for most of the day due to the heat and I was disappointed that I could not see the ocean from inside the room. There was no alarm/clock. Only 3 bottles of water were provided and I had to hunt down staff to get additional as they were not made readily available throughout the resort. Outside the room, there was a pizza from another guest's room service delivery that sat, undisturbed, for more than 24 hours along with some miscellaneous glasses and plates. On the last full day at the resort, no one from housekeeping came to sweep/mop, bring water, change sheets or refresh towels. Also, there was minimal water pressure in the shower. It took an unexpectedly long time for the water to even get warm. Although this was considered all-inclusive, room service was not a part of the package and this was not specified in any of the documentation. The food was okay. We ate at the Windows buffet for most meals. The new service method due to covid took some getting used to, but it wasn't a big deal. I will say that the people working at the resort were really nice and helpful where they could be.

    trip from hell

    first let me start out by saying if this resort didn't have hard working people like linda,manuel at lobby bar and rey from entertainment this place would close.all the entertainment people were great. Cons: fabian concierge was no help to my husband.he said there was nothing he could do.vudiance who works front desk lied to me 2 times. room not ready by 3. she told me to wait a ltttle longer and i would get a 2 story room.when we got room it was 1 story with no phone and a half frosted window in the bathroom so you can see people showering. not good when traveling with a 16 year old. i spoke to other people and they were given same room and then moved. went back downstairs and she said all the rooms were like that.lie #2. went back to room now ac doesn't work and we have no phone and smoke alarm going off. they came up and took battery out of smoke alarm and didn't replace it. ac couldn't be fixed and we were moved to a new room that had no frosted window. you couldn't see anyone showering. not a great variety of food. we ate at damarios for dinner which was food. breakfast at windows omelets good. no butter for toast,if you needed condiments they would have to get them and you were done eating before they arrived. at windows one night we wen t at 530 when they open. my son got food and when we went up they said we are closed. why would they let us in. that same night going back to our room we had no lights and the tv didn't work. they finally got lights back on and got us a new tv. there is water leaking in the lobby and theater. they have buckets to catch the drips. i was sitting on the couch and water dripped on me. also lobby ceiling has mold growing on it and im am allergic to it. i have pics to prove it, you would think with covid hitting and no one traveling they would have ample time to correct these issues and fix this disgusting resort. also requested wake up call still waiting.

    Inexpensive vacation

    We chose this hotel pretty much at the last minute and chose it for a second trip for the year. We traveled May 8 thru the 15th. We booked the preferred ocean front jr suite so we were on the ground floor and had a Bali bed on our deck. We were located down by the pier. It was the best room we have ever had on a trip. It's hard to review these resorts during COVID, but the service was not what we were use to at a am resort. They appeared to be sort staffed, but the staff did work hard. The food choices were not very good, lunch was the buffet or the barefoot grill. Neither were that good. The dinners choices were also limited, but the ala cart restaurants food was very good. We are used to waitress at the pool and beach which you had here some of the time, it was hit or miss. All in all if you are looking for a inexpensive vacation this is not a bad place, but if you spend a little more you can have much better.
