One great feature we were able to check in before the 4pm check in time which was great. Our first room had a stale smell, the couch and chair had visible stains, which i could not believe that those items were not tossed, replaced or cleaned. At this point i wanted to book another hotel but everything was booked was over priced. We requested a room change, it was granted but the reservations seemed to think that stained furniture was not a good enough reason to change reasons?? Our second room was okay and had the same stale odor. Our second experience was a request for ice at the cafe and was told they had limited ice, and ice machines were located on floors 5 and 7, which we didn't feel comfortable using even though hand sanitizers were placed inside the door- its not sanitary to use the ice machines during the COVID pandemic as many businesses are following that protocol-- oddly during breakfast you were not allowed to get your own ice you had to request it from a server--didn't understand that. A lot of noise guests were having private parties on my floor or having altercations on the floor above. If you select the breakfast option lots of variety and beverage service. Pool area was nice- but again the chairs need to be cleaned or replaced. Linen for beds are in need of replacing as well as the pillows. I expected more from the Riu and was very disappointed. The location was great, overall it was less than average.
Superb value and service. HIGHLY recommended for singles, family and couples!
The room and ocean facing balcony were extremely clean. All staff were superb. All front desk staff, cleaning staff, kitchen, store and maintenance staff were supreme. BIG shout out to Darwin. RIU is lucky to have a dedicated and extremely thorough staff member like him! Thanks RIU for making a trip that took too long to make PERFECTION. We cannot say enough about the DELISH breakfast buffet. BRAVO!!!!
very bad experience
unfortunately booked room for 2 nights 06/06 and 06/07. to attend graduation of our daughter, about 1 am night #1 couple next door start fighting/yelling game ,woke us up.We had called to reception 3 times, after each call it stopped for a second and started over. Then we called last time and asked to be moved or call to police, denied both. I had recorded all of yellings and would be sharing our experience on media
Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this hotel. This was my first time visiting Miami and I selected this particular hotel with the consideration that Riu is a well known international resort. The breakfast was okay. Some of the staff were pleasant. I did observe a female staff going around telling the good looking young ladies during breakfast that their attire was inappropriate and they needed to change, which I have to say it wasn’t. No one there was observed wearing a bathing suit or wearing inappropriate attire, but I guess the concern was more on harassing other females than focusing on costumer service. If you order a drink you will wait 45 minutes before you get it. Then if you walk yourself to their snack store located inside the hotel and purchase a drink, you’ll get the towel guy questioning where you got your drink from. We went down to their private beach area and were unable to get umbrellas. We looked around and saw that the neighboring resorts had their umbrellas out. We addressed it with the staff and we were told that due to the winds they can not give us umbrellas. We told them that all the other resorts had their umbrellas out and we were roasting in the sun. The guy said that it was a direct order from his manager not to have the umbrellas out. One last suggestion, if you’re interesting in purchase day excursion with the hotel concierge, you better think twice before doing that. We had a party of 11 people and booked the Key West day tour and it was the trip from hell. The bus was super cold and there was a water leakage from one of the AC vents causing the seats to be wet. When it was brought to the attention of the tour manager “Lilly” she basically said, “It’s’ okay, it’s not that wet.” During our drive time our driver was driving erratic. When we arrived to Key West he hit another parked bus, not once but twice. We purchased their trolley tour and were not impressed by it. On the way back the bus toilet was broken and it was the worse foul smell we had to endure for 3 hours. Moral of the story, do not book day trips through the hotel. Do your research before planning excursions. It was a horrible experience overall! I will NEVER EVER stay at Riu hotels again.
Celebrated a birthday weekend states May 21-24 everything was wonderful and we actually kinda of skeptical and wanted to change reservations last minute due to all the bad reviews. They didn’t clean the room unless you have your sign up before 8 am which we didn’t need it because we never woke up before 8am. They provided towels when needed & pillows too. The pillows need some wore extra extra flat. I really wanted an upgrade to a room with a balcony or suite but the hotel was sold out for The Weeknd.
