Couple trip
Great hotel and restaurant. Recommend for walkability and easy access to neighborhood restaurants off the strip. Would stay again.

Great stay!
Excellent location away from the hustle of main strip - you can still hear cars but not as bad as if you were further down. Friendly staff, clean room, free sunblock & coffee were great perks. Overall a great stay for our family of 4 in the one bedroom ocean view suite.

Once great value with views, now rundown overpriced rooms (Still with amazing views)
It hurts me to give the scores for this hotel because I am a loyal guest of Park Shore, but unfortunately with the rates at the prices they are the hotel is in a category for comparison which it fails against. The hotel is priced at rates (eg A$650/night which was 20% off the web site rate for an ocean corner view room) that is in the category of a five star hotel and Park Shore falls miserably short. The bathroom has no storage, no bench space (not even a vanity, just a basin), making it difficult for a family of four. We’ve stayed at Park Shore five times over 12 years and had family and friends stay here too based on our recommendation, however the room rate has probably tripled over that time yet the room hasn’t changed at all, other than gotten older and little bit more run down and dirtier. We love the hotel for the view and location, but unfortunately we won’t be returning as the room doesn’t justify the price now charged for a run down hotel. Staff were friendly and great - you couldn’t fault them, always served you with a smile and had a bit of a chat with us and the kids. Beach equipment hire was good, although give the resort fee US$50/day, you wouldn’t want something for it as the pool falls short). Nice they have added a water purifier in the foyer to refill drink bottles, got lots of use.

Basic, simple and clean
Hotel was tired. It was a surprise to find no mention of valet parking fees until checkout. Beds were soft and tired. No mini bar options and no glasses, only paper cups (x2) for a single coffee. No tea option. Ocean view was limited from our room which was disappointing given we paid more for the view.

Not safe for couples of families
We were at the Park Shore for all of ten minutes before we witnessed a drug pick up. What looked like a homeless person walked in, collected what looked like a black bag from behind the ATM, and walked out again. Travis on the front desk explained that ‘this is Waikiki, the amenities are not just for guests’, which is an odd response to hearing of a drug deal in their lobby, essentially acknowledging that this is common practice. (It’s worth noting that hotel lobbies in Honolulu are generally completely open access. We subsequently stayed in the Marriott almost next door with much the same set up, but has not been a problem.) This occurrence was the final of a few straws. We didn’t need to see our room to know that it is a very dated hotel. We used the bathrooms which were unclean, as much as in need up renovation. Travis was also not particularly welcoming, on top of being completely dismissive of our account. We landed early and went to the hotel to leave our bags. We enquired whether there was any chance of an earlier check in, to which his response was ‘well, check in is at 3’, rather than being polite. We could have overlooked the unwelcoming welcome, and the dated decor, but the dismissal of our concern regarding safety was where we had to draw the line. We could only recommend that you avoid this hotel at all costs.
