Ilicia , joquin and Carlos were wonderful and very helpful. Beautiful resort food was delicious. Would definitely recommend to others . Drinks were top shelf and not a lot of ppl due to COVID . Very good
Had a great experience at Secrets. Edgar was amazing to play volleyball with!! They had a bunch of activities. Great pool. I’d recommend checking out the town for dinner but breakfast and snacks at hotel
Nice Hotel, Great food, Amazing Service, Rooms average
Positive: Food was soooo tasty (we both gained 5 pounds each), Pools, Service is superb Negative: As soon as you arrive, they try to sign you up for a time share course (Vacation Club) After 9 hours of travel, we just wanted to get to our room and relax before spending another hour to check in and sign up for a course . Also, not sure if this was a one-off but our room was dirty and it took 4 hours for our room to be cleaned since "there were no other available rooms". So in total, first day was a drag. Oh and beach is murky and rocky. However, after that we enjoyed our time just lounging at the pool and participating in the activities. So my recommendation is definitely an above average experience but definitely not top tier.
Blown away by the 5-star service and fabulous staff - The people there made all the difference
My wife and I visited this beautiful hotel from Sept 2-6, 2021. It was our first visit to this resort, although our 2nd to Puerto Vallarta.' Although I gave the resort a 4-rating, I wanted to give it a 4.5, but Trip Advisor doesn't allow 0.5 pt ratings. Here's a summary of the pros and cons, and a more detail description of our stay below. Pros: 1. Absolutely the people and the service. Almost all of the staff were always smiling, always masked (due to Covid), and happy to help in any way they could to make our stay better. Specifically wanted to call out the following folks who served us at the Market Cafe Buffet Restaurant - Luis, Edgar, Humberto, Adrian, and Alexandra the hostess there. These folks made our dining experience every morning for breakfast, such a pleasure. And on the last day, they brought out a special swiss chocolate roll with wishes in chocolate sauce on the plate to wish us safe travel back home (see pic) . There was also another server, Naka... (I can't remember his name, but it had a Japanese sounding name, which he explained was because his grandfather had visited Japan many years ago), who was at the Bordeaux French restaurant for dinner on two of the nights we dined there. His level of service was exquisite. 2. The overall hospitality of the staff at all the restaurants 3. The sanitization and precautions that the hotel took every where, including temp checks at all the restaurants. They also sanitized our luggage before it was brought up to our room, on the day we arrived. 4. The quality of the food, and especially the French Restaurant was 4.5 star worthy. You also didn't require reservations in the more "fancy" restaurants. 5. Views from our room (I think every room had an ocean-view) 6. Lovely room amenities, including a jacuzzi style tub as part of an open bathroom. Also, the room service "safe box" where staff could place the dishes from outside the room, w/o us needing to open the door. Loved it. 7. The well-organized, and free covid testing service 7. No waiting for a pool chair, and plenty of towels available all over 8. No wrist bands needed, like at other hotels 9. Relatively close to the airport (about a 15-20 min taxi ride) Cons I took off 0.5 stars for the following areas that need improvement: 1. No designated smoking areas, and people could smoke all over the hotel, including the pool areas, although not the restaurants. Would have liked if they had restricted smoking or not permitted smoking in the open spaces of the hotel. 2. Although the room was great, some of the woodwork and cabinetry felt dated. 3. Would have liked to have maybe had a "desserts/pastry only" restaurant to indulge our sweet tooth, although most of the other restaurants did have desserts on the menu. 4. Room service took a bit longer than we expected, especially for something like a cup of tea (no coffee makers or tea in the room) MORE DETAILS I mentioned we stayed for 5 days, which was an anniversary celebration. I had mentioned that to the hotel prior to our arrival, and we were delighted to see a lovely ribbon banner across our door congratulating us. On entry into the room, we were further delighted to see a yummy chocolate cake piece with anniversary wishes, and a bottle of sparkling Mexican wine (we enjoyed this a lot). We had a King sized bed, with an open bathroom that had a jacuzzi style bathtub and a shower stall. Double sinks, plenty of closet space for clothes. Mini-bar had soft drinks and some beer. would have been nice to have a few snacks there. We did have a brief conversation with a person at Reception soon after we had checked in, who seemed to be part of their "Vacation Club", but they didn't pressure us and we were done in about 15 mins. The views from our 10th floor room was magnificent, and we watched the sunsets every day, and had a birds-eye view of the pool and other activities below. Because we were at the Secrets, which was Adults-Only, we were able to go to the restaurants at the adjacent sister property, the NOW Amber Family resort, but they couldn't come to our side. We ate most of our meals at the Secrets Resort, visiting the Market Cafe Buffet for breakfast every day, and occasionally for lunch. We tried the Bordeaux French Restaurant which was on the Secrets side, and the Capers Italian Restaurant, at the NOW Amber side, for dinner. Both were good, but we absolutely loved the Bordeaux and ate there twice. There are other more casual restaurants across both properties, like the Oceana Seafood one that we ate lunch on our first day. As I mentioned in the Pros, the service was outstanding and the food quality really good, very fresh. There was lots of poolside activities, including water aerobics, which were a lot of fun. Night entertainment in the lobby area was ok, and smoking being permitted there, made us not want to listen to the music. The hotel is not very large, so easy to get around. You can swim in the ocean, although the beach was rocky. We did notice several vendors on the beach, but we didn't interact with them, so didn't feel bothered by them. I also want to add that we met a server at one of Market Cafe restaurant, at the Bread Station, who was Deaf. So wanted to commend the hotel for being inclusive with their hiring policies and giving folks like this person a chance. Overall, it was a fabulous stay and we'd have no hesitation returning back to the hotel again, especially for the wonderful hospitality from the people at the hotel.
The resort was great and had so much fun!!! The entertainment staff was awesome with Papi Chulo (Edgar) leading the fun!! Jesus was great at the surf board yoga and I’m a beginner! The wait staff was great as well bringing you great drinks.
