Great hotel hosted us for 50th bday

Great service by the hotel staff, rooms were clean, we blocked 15 rooms and we were all on the same floor side by side. We definitely enjoyed our stay and had no complaints. Everything we had requested ahead of time was done flawlessly. Walking distance to Bourbon street, streetcars etc. Highly recommend.

    Not quite hitting the mark

I stayed here last weekend and was given great service by all. They were inundated with cranky 20 somethings who all wanted to get to some formal dance. My room was on the top floor, yet one wall smelled of mold. Curious. It was nice to have a small balcony to air it out and to get a better view of the city. The toilet fit under the counter ledge which made it impossible to fully extend the lid. Again nothing horrible but curious nonetheless. The big disadvantage is the location. Superb for Tulane visitors, it is at least a mile from the French Quarter. There is no hotel shuttle service so factor Uber or taxi into your hotel price. Easily $50 if you go out and want to return to your room to freshen up before dinner. There is nothing nearby to walk to at night so it was disappointing. A suggestion to the hotel is to have a van that leaves every half hour to the same dropoff/pickup point first come first served. That would make all the difference.

    Nice hotel, good location

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The room was spacious with a Keurig, fridge and microwave. We only once at the hotel, a lunchtime buffet but the food was good. The gym is the usual size of a hotel gym, not massive but enough equipment in there for a workout. The pool area is on the 8th floor (near the gym) and is lovely. I liked the location, it was about a 10 minute walk to Bourbon Street, so close but far enough away from the chaos!

    Exemplary stay

I cannot speak to the experiences of others', but our 3 night stay here was excellent. Staff and bellmen were superb. The concierge Craig was very helpful. The Streetcar restaurant and Clarinet lounge served good food and drinks at reasonable prices. The 8th floor pool is awesome, with a tremendous space and views, and heated pool. But please turn the jazz music down. It is too loud! The fitness centre is very nice, too. The room I had was large and very well appointed, with fridge and microwave. The t.v. is substandard, however. Best of all, this hotel is a 22 minute walk to the French Quarter; meaning close enough to walk, but far enough to avoid the chaos of that area. The street car to the French Quarter passes right by the hotel, also. There are good local restaurants like Piscobar, Breads on Oak (Carondelet), Two Chicks, and the Troubador. But it is very hard to find good coffee nearby. The exception is the Pythian food market, right next door, which offers espresso and 9-10 other artisanal food court offerings, but has limited hours. Look, the area towards the Superdome is sketchy and a bit of a homeless encampment, but is still very safe. Don't be deterred. In warmer weather, this place would be even better, with that beautiful pool. We will be back.
