    Extremely disappointed ☹️

    I’d first like to start out saying that my wife and I love Secrets resorts. We fell in love with Secrets Puerto Vallarta a few years ago and rarely ever visit another resort chain. We recently went to Secrets Cap Cana in July in the Dominican and loved it. Puerto Vallarta will always be our favorite Secrets though. They set the bar for us. The service is top notch, the resort is immaculate and the employees are the best when it comes to service. Sorry Cap Cana, you are a close second and we love you. We have introduced our other friends to Secrets and they love it as much as we do.
 Anyways, the reason for writing this review today is because we recently stayed at Secrets Montego Bay Jamaica. We talked up how amazing Secrets is and we convinced my friend of 30 years to meet us there with his wife. I’m not even sure how to explain this other than I’m extremely embarrassed to talk Secrets up after this visit. The Montego Bay resort is an utter embarrassment. I’ve never had such terrible service at any resort in my life. I thought Secrets had standards for all of their resorts, but I’m sorry to report that they do not. Something needs to change drastically at this resort. I would say they could use COVID as an excuse but we went to Secrets Cap Cana and the service and facility was top notch at an even worse COVID time. When we arrived at Wild Orchid, it took 2.5 hours to check in. It was a complete cluster checking in. The lobby is extremely small and was packed with guests checking in and maybe 4 concierges max. At all secrets we’ve been to in the past, you typically get a glass of champagne when you arrive and some one immediately takes you to a concierge who usually checks you in right away. Our friends arrived an hour before us and it took 3.5 hours for them to even get their keys. It was the worst checkin experience ever. One thing I loved about Cap Cana was that we were assigned a concierge for our entire stay. He constantly checked on us and was always available on What’s App to tell us what the nightly entertainment was and what restaurants are open. We stayed 7 nights at Wild Orchid and out of the 7 nights we stayed, our room was only cleaned 2 nights our entire stay. We are used to our room being cleaned no later than 1 or 2pm at Secrets. We typically come back from the pool and take a nap in our clean room before heading to dinner. At all other Secrets they typically come in to your room and make your bed again and put a desert in your room for when you get back for dinner. None of this occurred at Wild Orchid. Even our friends said the last two nights the room was never cleaned. We talked to other guests and they had the same experience. Unacceptable. We complained every day to the front desk managers but still we’d come back after all day at the pool and our room was never cleaned, dirty towels etc etc. it was almost comical how bad it was. They kept asking us if we were turning our privacy light on but we never once turned it on.
 Enough of the terrible room cleaning staff, let’s move on to the room service and food options. First of all we were really sad to see hibachi was closed. Like everything else they blame COVID. We just went to Secrets Cap Cana in July and hibachi was open there. I’d have to give credit on the Italian and French restaurants, the food there was actually delicious. We were there almost every night and the service was great. Traci the hostess is very rude. The breakfast buffet was awful though. As mentioned before, we have been to other secrets, and we always eat at the Buffett in the morning. The food was very bad and the selection is just not what we are used to. We are used to the hostess handing us mimosas as we walk in the door. And when you get half way done, there is always someone there to fill it back up. So instead we found that Oceana was the best breakfast experience. Not many food options but at least the food was edible and good. 
 Let’s get to the entertainment. The live music was fun at night. We enjoyed it. The only place to really hang out was the piano bar. We were excited for the piano bar but not one night did someone actually play the piano in either the lobby or the piano bar. It was annoying. The pool entertainers were great and we enjoyed Firestar and mr wonderful. Please give them a raise. Alvin at the pool bar was amazing. Our drinks were never empty. He’s the man!
 The property itself is ok. A little run down compared to other secrets we’ve been to. Cap Cana is the most unique and prettiest. The lobby there is amazing. At Wild Orchid I noticed the public bathrooms around the property are always dirty, especially the pool bathroom. Paper towels on the floor, soap all over the counter. Paper towels always out. The pool bar tiles are falling into the pool, the deck of upper pool bar is practically falling apart and it seemed like they just repair one or two planks every few days as a band aid. The concrete around the pool is stained and should really be redone. We never made the foam parties at Breathless because they got cancelled because of the rain. They really need the foam party at Secrets like the other secrets we have been to and if the forecast calls for rain in the afternoon, they should schedule them a little sooner in the day. 
 Overall we had a very bad experience. This wasn’t the Secrets experience we typically expect. This resort is very disorganized and although some staff are friendly many here are not. There is no sense of urgency for anything around here. The property is not up to Secrets standard. Jamaica is a beautiful place but Secrets Wild Orchid kind of tainted it for my wife and I. We likely won’t be back to any AM Resorts here in Jamaica. The experience we had was not worth the cost. Our trip was booked under Camille P. and Clint R. You can look that up and see our other stays. I hope Secrets does something to change this resort. And don’t use covid as the excuse because we just travelled to Cap Cana in DR 3 months ago when things just opened up. There just is no excuse for anything. Please fix this.

    Secrets Wild Orchid- Covid Review

    I just realized I posted my SWO covid review on my old trip advisor account. So I will keep This short and sweet. We were extremely satisfied with the service and experience at the resort this time even with restrictions and changes due to the pandemic. Understandably they have less staff, some things are closed and unavailable. But they does not stop the beauty of this resort, The quality of the food and service and the evening entertainment was fun, given the circumstances. We missed the live piano bar, the desires nightclub, and Himitsu. This trip was much needed and I am thankful we were able to return “home” for a week and get some much needed pampering. We had the SWO ocean front room, 2443, and the view is breathtaking. I can’t wait to return again!!!

    3rd Secrets Wild Orchid Trip- 1st Trip During a Pandemic

    This was our third trip to SWO, and things were a tiny bit different due to the pandemic, but it was still amazing. Airport- The airport process was smooth, we opted to use the MOBAY lounge for arrival and departure. Our rep was waiting for us at the end of the ramp, and escorted us through each stage of customs. Normally we don't need any help, but with covid-19 I was unsure how it would be, so having this guide definitely made us feel more at ease. Check In- Upon arrival we were welcomed by the staff at WO with a customary glass of champagne. We hand sanitized and checked in at the lobby with our masks on. The staff was also all wearing masks. Our check in process wasn't as openly friendly as it has been in the past, but I didn't mind, I was just happy to be home. Our room wasn't ready, so we changed into our warmer weather attire in the bathroom and headed to Oceana for lunch. Eating- Since SSJ is closed, the only lunch options were, Oceana, The barefoot grill, Jerk chicken cart, and the buffet, or room service. Oceana had great food, and the waitress there is awesome. She had our refills coming before we even asked, and when we ordered more food, she gave us a bigger portion than expected because she realized the four of us were sharing. The jerk chicken cart would come around 12 noon and he offers huge portions. The line gets pretty long, so keep an eye out for him. The breakfast buffet is a little different due to the pandemic. When you are getting food, you hold your plate and they serve you, they grab what you ask for. So if its busy, it is kind of a free for all to find a worker to grab you a yogurt or fruit. I thought that being at a lower capacity was a plus for the egg station, the lines were never as long for eggs as they normally are! Service was slower than normal, but its to be expected. They let us take food to go from the buffet as well. There were 3 restaurants open a night, they would vary between, Bordeaux, Portofino, El Patio, and Blue Mountain. The food was nothing less than delicious, The service again, is slow, but it normally is tad slow, and we were in no rush so it really didnt bother us. Room service- Room service hours are cut shorter and its no longer 24/7. The tablet in the room didn't have all of the breakfast options listed. We called room service and they basically said whatever you want, we will bring. I also asked for an iced espresso (from coco cafe) and at first they said no we cant bring that sorry, and then they said, actually we can do it. Needless to say we tipped our room service a lot because they really went above and beyond for us. The vegetable pizza was good, the fried provolone delicious, nachos were eh. Drinks- I don't remember the drinks being AS sugary and watered down on our previous trips. I stuck to drinking sauvignon blanc, or champagne and it was good. My favorite blended drink is the Dirty Banana with a rum floater. Definitely bring your reusable tumbler, or plastic straws. We also bring little nips with us in our checked bag, and we do some real shots in the room just to catch a little buzz or make our own drinks. Housekeeping- They clean your room upon request, when we saw housekeeping in the hallway, we would ask them for some towels etc. When we first got to our room, we didnt have the shower cap, comb, or lotion that is pretty normal in a Secrets room. We called the concierge and they said no problem, and brought it right up to the secrets box. Unfortunately, the hot tub in our room left me sad. Its not their fault, because everything was shut down for so long, BUT, when I went to use the tub, a huge amount of grime and muck came spewing out of the jets. It was totally disgusting lol. I also dont remember having any issues with lowering the air conditioning on other trips, but no matter what we did, it wouldn't go any lower than 22 celsius. Breathless access- We had unlimited access over at breathless. It is over by SJO, on the property, about a 5-10 min walk. We enjoyed Breathless a lot, it felt like a vacation from our vacation. We ate at the rooftop bar, and restaurant. The views are GORGEOUS up there. It also has a rooftop pool, swim up bar, and hot tub. Due to low capacity, we had it to ourselves and we had a fantastic time. I dont remember the bartenders name but she made an AMAZING mango margarita, and her music playlist was awesome. We went to the foam party at Breathless also. It was fun and the DJ plays good music during the foam party. Other than the foam party, they play techno at the pool, it might not be everyones cup of tea, but it was better than the elevator pool music at SWO. The swim up bar at main Breathless pool had the slowest worst service, EVER. Prepare to sit there a long time, and even longer during the foam party when there is more people waiting. * I have been to Breathless Riviera Cancun, and this Breathless doesn't even compare. It is a very small limited property, and if you want views of the ocean or beach, you have to go over to Secrets. The lobby is small and awkward, and I didn't really like it. SSJ and SWO are much better, and you're better off staying there and just visiting Breathless. Now, if SSJ and SWO had modern upgraded rooms like Breathless, then we are talkin.* I still very much highly love and recommend SSJ and SWO, the views are gorgeous, the beach is swimmable and amazing, the pools are fun, the entertainment at night is fun. During the pandemic, it is a lot slower, less workers, things are closed. But we needed this vacation and we enjoyed ourselves. I can't wait to visit again when they are back to 100% and the Piano Bar is open, and the Desires club is open, and Himitsu is open. <3

    Great vacation in 2020

    I am glad that in spite of all the risks associated with travel especially international travel, I decided to book a trip and stay in the "Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay" hotel for a 5 day stay vacation. Overall the trip has been great. The things we enjoy the most are: the breeze and the spectacular ocean view, the live singing show, the yoga class, the food etc. . The staff are all very helpful. The waiter we had at the Italian restaurant was extremely professional and pays attention to detail (I think Ozzy is his name). Shout out to Starfire (entertainment lead) and Dawn (Yoga teacher). Both are very helpful to the guests. The hotel is putting a lot of effort to keep the hotel clean/sanitized which gives us extra comfort to stay there. I would highly recommend this hotel for someone looking for a get away during this stressful time.

    30th Anniversary/Bride's B-day

    OK, I had been looking forward to this all year and was not disappointed. My travel agency, Cheap Caribbean.com booked an arrival and departure service (Mobay) and I HIGHLY recommend it, especially the arrival service as expedited service was well worth it. So, upon arrival at the resort, it was then we were told that the Junior Swim-out was unavailable as they were all being remodeled...not sure why that could not have been notified by someone that this was the case. However, we were upgraded to a suite that also came with butler service and that turned-out to be a great stay. My bride and I do not imbibe alcohol so I can't speak to the quality of the spirits but the food was just fine. We never had to wait. The room was clean and kept clean. It was next door to the Hard Rock restaurant and there was some party noise at night-it did not reach the level of discomfort but you might want to ask if your room is adjacent or just bring ear-plugs fi you are a very ight sleeper. This was the trip of a life-time-what else is there to say. Oh, there have been comments regarding employees pushing Secret's vacation plan but I found that few brought it up and a polite "No thanks" was sufficient.
