Rude front desk agent but overall our kids enjoyed the pool & arcade
Overall our family had a great stay at the Westin however checking in we had a very rude front desk agent that accused us of trying to scam when we showed her the text we got from the hotel to go front desk letting us know that our room was now ready. The agent was soo unhelpful & grouchy to us. She told us our room was already ready, to just use the key card that the earlier agent gave us. At this point we didn’t even know our room number yet because our room wasn’t ready when we tried to check in earlier. She expected us to already know it & where to go. When we asked for her name, she showed us the side of shoulder, but couldn’t see her name tag. She was older 60s Filipino/asian woman. Her desk was on the far left side, closest to the concierge desks on 7/9/25. She was soo rude she didn’t even try to read the text twe got from the hotel, she basically just told us to go the room, and when we did… the key cards DIDN’T even work, we had to go back to the front desk AGAIN (now 3rd time) & another agent gave us new keys to our room that now worked, he was a lot nicer and helpful. Thank goodness our kids all had a great time but she left such a bad taste in our mouth from when we just got there. We’re repeat Westin Kaanapali guests, this was the first time we’ve experienced such bad service.

Anti-Family / Dirty / necessary dosages lacking
We have been to this resort in the past and enjoyed our stay. We are currently at the resort as I write this review. This is not a family friendly report any longer. The staff is rude to the kids and they are super psycho about allocation of beach towels. There is a card system which is fine if they would follow their own policies, but they do not. They refused to give pool towels to the children without a parent being present which was a super annoying experience always having to go with them after time at the beach towels exchange a sandy towel for a dry one to enjoy the pool. The pool was overcrowded so you couldn’t ever get a chair to sit on and it seemed locals came to sneak in frequently. One child drown and had to be necessitated with cpr and taken away to the hospital traumatizing our children. The rooms were not as clean as the previous visit, and had limited dishware which made the trio annoying as you had to run the dishwasher after each meal or hand wash dishes if you plan to cook your meals on site, which most families do. The bedding had gross stains and the rooms were not very clean and again, had limited supplies to make it through your trip. You got 3 dishwasher pods for a ten day stay and the rooms don’t have frequent cleanings. We had to ask and pay for a cleaning. Overall, this once great resort has gone downhill and we will not be returning. Overpriced, over promised and under delivered.

Amazing Stay! Perfect for families, can’t wait to come back!
We stayed here over the 4th and loved it! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The resort has so much to do from the amazing pools, beach, arcade and nearby shopping and restaurants. Shout out to Michael who was in the lounge doing the fresh pineapple in the mornings, he was so kind to my kids and they couldn’t wait to see him each day at breakfast. Thank you for an amazing vacation, we can’t wait to come back!

Our favorite hotel on Maui
Our favorite hotel on Maui. If possible, upgrade to the Hōkūpaʻa Tower with Lanai access. We enjoy the lounge access every single day. The whole hotel is amazing, from the rooms to the beach to the pool area. Everything is top-notch.

Perfect Retreat in Paradise
This Westin Resort and Spa is the finest Westin hotel .We have had the pleasure of traveling the US and Europe for 25 years, and this Westin makes relaxation easy and luxurious. We stayed for a week in the newly renovated Hokupa’a Tower, with the Lanai amenities for lovely breakfast and afternoon bites, refreshment stations thru out the day. Complete with quiet oceanfront views and an Infinity Pool to cool down. Our room was booked as Ocean Front, with a lanai, and that is exactly what we received. When we checked in, the guest relations agent suggested that once we had our luggage situated in our room, we should take the elevator to the Mezzanine Floor, and get familiar with The Lanai room. And when we did, we were greeted by Maria, who introduced herself, and provide us with a tour of this amenity and All of its offerings. Food, beverages, snacks, (even the ice cream delivery schedule :). And Maria remembered our names for our entire week visit. She is truly one of The Westin’s ambassadors. I can not review The Westin Resort , without also praising the Housekeeping staff that took such great care of our room, in an almost invisible manner. We had a welcome note from Elena, letting us know her extension, should we need anything. But, not until the day before we left, did we get to meet her and thank her in person for her wonderful job. Just like Maria, she made us feel very welcome, and thanked us for being at The Westin. Our room was Oceanfront, King Sized Bed, nice dresser and closet space to store, hang ups, and luggage. Beautiful bath with Waterfall shower. Please, if you are going to Maui, enjoy a real Adventure in Paradise, stay at the Westin Resort and Spa.
