Fantastic service from management - Ali Lahip
While we have not had a chance to stay at the property yet, I feel compelled to write a review on the service I have received from Ali Lahip thus far. We’ve had to make changes to multiple rooms for our upcoming stay including changing dates due to the Covid pandemic. I called in to notify the hotel of my desire to potentially change dates on a points reservation, and the manager Ali took charge immediately. He indicated I could change the reservation to any available dates (even though often hotels tell you to reach out to customer service and pass the baton or add fees here and there) and shared his direct contact info to reach out to him as soon as I was ready as he wanted to be the one to accommodate. I called today, Ali communicated immediately, and took charge and made the changes within a matter of minutes. Now based on mixed reviews, I can tell this is a newly remodeled property with a name change. While there may be growing pains, service and follow through as such should elevate it to a very desirable level. We are excited to experience this property, and update the review after fully experiencing it.
Not the Best
Of the 3 hotes we stayed in Hawaii (Outriggr in Oahu, this one and Sheraton Maui), this was the least desirable. It was theonly one of the 3 that didn't upgrade or recognize any of our celebrations (my retirement and our 20th anniversary) and the room had the smallest "lanai" you could imagine. Barely fit 2 of us on chairs. Rooms were ok at best. The Crooked Surf Bar was the most enjoyable thing there. Then when i left some clothing behind (pair of pants/top), even though i spent a fortune to stay, nobody called me and i had to call 3 times before it was shipped - at my expense - :(

Decent resort with poor service
I write as a Platinum Elite member. This is a fantastically located resort. Beautiful private beach and heated pool. However our experience was really poor. We are here for 5 nights. This is only day 2. We arrived and there was no help with luggage. The checkin was the worst I have experienced with the Marriott/ Sheraton group. I had booked 2 rooms. One would think common sense would mean plan for the rooms to be near each other. Rooms are completely at opposite ends. No acknowledgement and just apologies about room situation. We had to change a room as the ground floor ocean view room had a wall in front of it...seriously and you call it ocean view?? The new room was good until we saw a cleaning rag and a couple of used razors in the tub. Nice work on cleanliness. Did you all get an email from the Marriott group about how vigilant they are to room cleanliness?? No room upgrade. Poor service. Fustrating wait time. Bar service- slow and want us to settle bill because the server was getting off work. C'mon....smarten up people!!
Very happy with our three nite stay
I booked an ocean view room using two fee nite certificates and points. When we checked in with Lela, she was very helpful and although our room was not ready, she told us we had been upgraded to a very nice room. She was not kidding! Our room, #234, was gorgeous. It was huge and had an extra large lanai and amazing view of the water. We left the door open at night and listened to the waves crashing. There was very high surf while we were there and we actually had some moisture on our floor in the morning from the spray. It was fabulous. The amenities in the room were great. WiFi worked fine, refrigerator and a huge bathroom. The maid did a great job and the place was spotless. The location of the resort was great. We had several places we could walk to. There is wonderful walk along the ocean when heading right (south) . I enjoyed walking there every day. You can’t swim right in front of the hotel. It is a pretty beach. The pool is nice and we enjoyed the hot tub as well. We had food one night at the restaurant by the pool. It was mediocre. The drinks were so so. Not a great pour on the wine but convenient to have the bar there and it was pretty lively. We did not take advantage of the free bikes but that is a great amenity that you get with your resort fees. We really enjoyed our stay at this resort. The location is great for exploring the east and north shores.
