this is my 2nd stay at the Yucatan. in all the accommodations were comfortable. food at the buffet was as expected. the steak speciality restaurant left a lot to be desired - steaks were awful. however the otherr2 specialty provided excellent food and service. the only issue we had was with the rooms temp control, it could not be manually changed as the room was freezing. Maintc. had to be called

    Wonderful Vacation

We spent our family vacation at this resort October 9-16th. This was not our first stay at a Riu property. All of us were pleased with the amenities, food and service. Our rooms were clean, and everything worked perfectly. We had rooms on the ground floor near the pool and beach and enjoyed sitting on our balcony outside listening to the music on the nights we did not attend the evening show. When the patio doors were closed noise was never an issue. Every employee that we encountered was friendly and helpful…the best that we have experienced anywhere. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

    Hotel was surprisingly well maintained

Riu hotels in my opinion are usually mid to high end resorts and the Riu Yucatán surprised me with a better product than I had expected. Small property, but enough to not feel cramped. Building and amenities all close and only short walk to get where you need to go. Food was surprisingly palatable and compared with food, at the Moon Palace and the Paladium although with a much smaller selection. Buffet was well stocked and food overall was very good. Appeared to be a huge effort by Riu to bump up quality of service at this property during our stay. There were many employees and supervisors while we were there and although we had to report a few issues with our room, all complaints/requests were addressed within half an hour of notifying the front desk. The only setback was the original room we were offered had an extreme mildew smell which we turned down and was quickly offered another more suitable room. I was quite impressed overall with the Riu Yucatán since my previous Riu stays were decent, but not impressive.

    Nice hotel worth considering

Very friendly staff, food was good, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were cleaned daily. Beach was cleaned and groomed daily. Weather was awesome. Bar staff and drinks were great. Older property but very well maintained. I was extremely happy with my stay and would definitely go back.

    Sleepless nights

The hotel itself has beautiful grounds, multiple pools and chairs down to the water. Due to Covid, I’m guessing, the specialty restaurants rotated being open. Good choices for breakfast buffet style. Lunch also buffet style but several options. The most damaging to this hotel is the nightly ‘ event’ that is next to the pools. If your room is in any of the buildings by the pools, you are forced to listen to this blaring music, presenter to the point of your TV can be turned up high, ear plugs in, and it still sounds like they’re in your room! It’s seems mainly in Spanish, so if you don’t speak it, it makes it that much worse. It starts at 8:45 and goes until 11:00 or longer, every single night. Ugh. Can’t wait to get a good nights sleep when I get home.
