Personal favorite
Ever since this hotel opened we came here almost once a year. Out of all the hotels “on site” this one is the best. I see a lot of people are complaining about the check in experience and as much as i understand that waiting is annoying, especially after a long travel, we were prepared for a wait as the front desk was very busy at our arrival time. Our check in was fantastic. We requested a specific location and the front desk staff went above and beyond (even making a phone call) to get us the room we wanted (we would be fine with any room but we really appreciate the effort). We do collect our room keys and compete who gets the better one (tie this time Minion vs ET) and the lady who checked us in enthusiastically participated in our competition. The rooms are cleaned every other day which o think is great for lesser workload and environmental side as well. We needed more coffee and had no problem getting it from a passing staff member. There is only one negative thing we experienced (and again is a personal preference thing) and thats the Starbucks closing hours (they close at 8pm). Not sure why so early, but then again maybe we are amongst the few who drink coffee in the evening. The diner on the other hand closes at 11pm so thats perfect for after park dinner/snacks. Gym is one of my personal favorites. One of the best gyms I had in the hotels.

Terrible start at check-in itself
For a hotel in one of the biggest tourist destinations of the world, one would assume this hotel would be more prepared to handle guests at check in especially since most are families with children. But here we are waiting in line for more than an hour just to check in at 10.30 pm

Fantastic 4th Stay at Cabana Bay!
Mu husband & I are Florida Resident UO Annual Passholders & we stayed at Cabana Bay Beach resort for our vacation 05/04-05/09/25 this year. Absolutely LOVE this place! All of the staff in all areas of the resort were absolutley wonderful & the whole resort was just gorgeous :)! We stayed in an Exterior Entry Pool Side Family Suite room # 1102 - fantastic location for pool & lobby. Room was in great shape & spotlessly clean & beds were super comfy as always. Love the shampoo & conditioner dispensers on the wall now! Their gift shop is huge & has a wonderful variety of gifts & supplies. We ate at the onsite restaurant the Bayliner Diner for the several of our meals & it was fantastic as always! Huge selection of great food at decent prices. Loved the fresh fruit bar addition at breakfast! Do NOT miss Shakes Malt Shop! I love getting to have ice cream every day on vacation & theirs is fantastic & very generous portions. We love hanging out near the slide pool by our room & we were so glad the head pounding blasting music that was there last time was gone. Very much enjoyed the lovely "oldies" music that fits the hotel theme :) Transportation to the parks is via Universal busses & takes maybe 5-10 minutes to the legacy parks & about 15 minutes to the new EPIC Universe park. There was always a bus waiting every time both going & coming to all of the the parks. Terrific bus service! This was our fourth stay at Cabana Bay & we love it more every time :) Can't recommend enough & can't wait to come back!

Birthday weekend trip
This is a retro themed resort with 2 large pools, a lazy river, hot tubs, bowling alley, amazing gym, sandy ‘beach’, Starbucks, ice cream shop, and a couple of cafeteria like restaurants. Shuttle service runs every 10-15 minutes to the Universal parks/City Walk. The room we stayed in was a standard 2 queen. The beds were very comfortable. Only downside - 2 pillows per bed. I like 2 pillows just for me, and since each bed was fully occupied with family, I had to just deal with having only 1 pillow. The check in line was a bit long - even though I had checked in on line prior to arrival. Checking out was easier - quick email or text confirmation. There’s only a small refrigerator and packet style coffee maker in the room - no microwave. However, there’s 4 microwaves down in the dining area that were available (just a tad inconvenient imo). There’s a $26/night self parking charge, and the room keys allow for in/out privileges - however the gates seemed kind of glitchy (wouldn’t quickly read the room keys - and so the line leaving the parking lot was slow). They charge $14 for a ‘souvenir’ float for the lazy river. However, there’s an air station so we bought inexpensive floats from Walmart and just inflated them onsite. The place is pretty big - and very busy (the pool and lazy river was almost like bumper cars occasionally) It’s fairly well maintained and the staff were friendly. They offer Florida resident or military discounts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Weekend Getaway
I have stayed here 5+ times over the years and I love the functionality and service. The food is great and the front desk is lovely. However, housekeeping needs an upgrade as well as the rooms. We were in an older room and you could tell. The headboard was peeling so it like dingy, there was trash in the shower from the previous guests, and the floor felt a little icky. On day 2 I asked for housekeeping service and the text I got back said “we will follow up with housekeeping about this request” what do you mean follow up? Like, do you have to ask permission? Anyways we were gone all day and it wasn’t done. My bedding was wet the whole time due to our bathing suits (bad planning on us but I was counting on the sheets being replaced). The food in the bowling alley is the best there. I normally get names of the bartenders but I did not. He was really personable and chill. The diner is as expected very so, so nothing special, it’s made for the masses and quick after park dinner. My husband and I love this place so we will stay again for all the amenities but it was a little disappointing. Take this review lightly, it’s a lovely place and I’ll stay here again. Just a miss this time. It was a weekend getaway and busy so I won’t hold it against them.
