Great 9 day stay @ Dreams Onyx
Spent a fantastic 9 days at Dreams onyx and felt like family from the kind and attentive staff. Special shoutouts to Randy @ the beach bar, junior from the lobby bar, victor at the egg station in the buffet, miguel and manuel buffet servers and benito from the breathless buffet. All of them went out of their way on multiple occasions to provide us with exceptional service. The staff really made this resort feel special and a place we will return to. Rooms were average but the beach and water were amazing. No seaweed in sight in the 9 days on the beach fronts. The waves were fun and there is a quieter area to enter for those who prefer less waves. Above average buffet and al a carte restaurants. Always something to eat even for the picky eaters in the bunch. Please remember it is customary to tip at the bars and restaurants. A 1 dollar tip goes a long way, especially when the staff does work hard to keep the resort pristine and your drinks full. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return for another stay!

Best Resort Vacation to Date
This was the best resort vacation that I’ve experienced to date. The staff went above and beyond to meet our every want and need. Our butler, Juan, made sure our group of 6 always got into restaurants at our desired time and that we were all well taken care of. The food and drinks were great. The ambience in the restaurants was great and our rooms were modern and well maintained. The entire staff from the servers to the pool cleaner (Jimfree!) were friendly and accommodating. We had one unfortunate dining experience and when we spoke to the restaurant manager, Stefani, about it, she went above and beyond to make it right to help us celebrate my husband’s birthday. I will definitely go back!

Great family holiday, but not without issues
Overall, this was a good holiday but not without some issues. the staff were great, very friendly and hard working. The hotel always looked clean and tidy, although somethings do let this hotel down on the cleanliness side. As a family holiday we had a great time, and all really enjoyed our time. No where is prefect and I wasn’t expecting dreams to be prefect either – many things they do really really well but other things they slightly miss the mark- if you go to the dreams will you have a great holiday yes – is it prefect no Outsides Firstly, the sunbeds around the pools are of a lower quality and many are uncomfortable due to the stretching of the fabric the sunbeds also don’t get cleaned at night meaning if people had dropped food or drinks on them the day before the stains were still there the following day, this seems and oversite from the staff as everywhere else outside is spotless and cleaned very regularly. That being said there are plenty of sunbeds to pick from and as a whole the poolside areas are great. The activity pool has a few issues they play the same music video which is about a 3-hour long concert which plays on loop every day all day . The staff working on the slides are very inconsistent with who they let on the slides. My daughter is 10 years old and 135cm tall – this falls under the 140cm requirement – some staff said as she was over 10 years (Age limit is 9 years) and a strong swimmer she could ride the slides others said as she was under 140cm so she couldn’t – this did become a little annoying as would change throughout the day meaning the kids never knew where they stood. Worth knowing if booking this hotel with younger children they are not allowed on any slides at the water park. We were a group of 8, 4 adults and 4 children aged between10 and 14. They enjoyed both big pool areas finding there was plenty to keep them enjoying there days. All the bar staff working at the pools are friendly and make good drinks. Overall, the pool areas are good but not perfect. Easy fixes would be better sunbeds and mixed music selection. This may be nothing to do with the hotels pools but 4 out of our 8 had ear infections while on holiday we spoke with 3 other families who all had people that had gotten the same while being there. Food and drink Again a slight mixed bag with the food we ate at all the a la carte restaurants for our evening meals as adults we enjoyed most meals ( the Italian was not great – pizzas which are at the buffet or salty pasta ) the French and the steak house meals were great we went to both twice – also attending the teppanyaki grill twice once for the show cooking and once for the second menu option both meals were good with the children really enjoying the show cooking. The issues came with the children options at all the a al cartes with minimal options on the menu for the kids. We did realise week 2 that if you ask for things that are not on the menu they will just go and fetch that for you. I’d say Steak house, French and Teppanyaki restaurants are great and if you can’t visit them all id prioritise those ahead of the Mexican which is okay and Italian which is no different to the buffet. We also went to the wine vault for a tasting menu night which was fantastic Ben hand picked out some meals for us based on our tastes and it was amazing – for the main course I had a salmon and steak plate, and it was cooked prefect, that was really like a 5star evening. This isn’t something available to everyone as they only have 2 tables per night I believe – so worth asking for early in your holiday. The breakfast buffet is nice with lots of fresh food and something for all tastes. Lunch and evening buffet is pretty much the same we all went to the buffet twice for dinner and a handful of times for lunch, the quality was okay, I would not say it’s the best I’ve been to, but it was nice and always found something to have. Although 1 thing I did find strange and not that it affected us but the buffet doesn’t do any sort of fries or chips on the 6 or 7 times we visited the buffet during lunch or dinner not once did it have fries , like I say not a big deal for us but I know for some with fussy eating children sometime fries are a must. The beach side burger hut was the children’s favourite they went there most days for lunch, which offers grilled chicken, burgers hotdogs salad fries and chilli. Room service food was also pretty good – we had 2 orders through the week which was nice, came pipping hot and enjoyable. Our mini bar was well stocked each day – we left a few tips for the mini bar guy and he kept us stocked up with coke zero for the kids, beers, water with plenty of milkey bars m&ms and pringles. Entertainment The entertainment team work really hard and do not stop all day – the kids clubs are well managed and our 4 enjoyed the teens area. Evening entertainment is pretty good with some fun shows on at night – with the option of the sports bar if your someone who enjoys sports – although if you are from the UK getting them to play premier league games is near on impossible. We was told we could watch both the Nottingham forest games in the reception bar but then on the day were told they didn’t have the channel and would need to wait until the sports bar opened 2 hours later, when we explained that the game would be over they did open the bar early but were never able to get the game on as they just service for streaming links and could not find a link. But overall other then the lack of football (soccer) the entertainment was good. Cleaning / state of repair of hotel This is a busy hotel so therefore things get broken and dirty but in fairness to the hotel they are none stop cleaning and fixing thing – while we was there a window was broken in a hallway and was changed / repaired instantly the gardens and trees are kept trimmed and in good order – as so as something needs doing its done but you done feel like you see anything ever being done its just done without impacting on your holiday – as with all the other staff everyone works really hard to ensure you have a great time. Our only disappointment in this area which is a shame as it’s the most personal part of the hotel is the cleaning of the room. I feel like the rooms are tidied rather then cleaned the floor wasn’t ever mopped in our bathroom and I’m not sure how often the floors in the main room were mopped as with the balcony this area was never swept or cleaned – we left tips for the cleaner the first 5 days but stopped as we found the cleaning just wasn’t that great. I’m not saying the rooms were dirty as they wasn’t but it just didn’t have that sparkle that you kind of expect when you come up to your room at the end of the day – we had some debris dust/fluff on our toilet floor from the 3rd day until the day we left – it became abit of a joke each day to see if it would still be there we also had a dead fly in the shower area which was there for 2 days until we washed it away. All of which would have been removed with a quick mop. Again these were only minor things and the beds were neatly made with fresh bedding and towels each day. Overall, we had a lovely holiday at the dreams onyx and many of the things mentioned were minor but also things I’ve found better at other hotels of a smiler price and rating.

Great Family Trip
We traveled with our daughters, aged 15 and 13, as well as our brother and his wife. This was one of the best vacation experiences we have had as a family. Check-in and check out were very smooth and easy. Odalina at the preferred desk was always helpful and fun to talk to every day. The beach is very beautiful. There were always chairs open on the beach. We have traveled to this beach previously, in June of 2024, and the waves were bigger in October. The pools were amazing and clean. Our favorites were the main pool and the preferred adult pool. Of note, Jimfrey, who cleans the pools, took the time to speak to us every day and was a highlight of our days at the main pool. The rooms we had were amazing and serviced every day. Shout out to Diana for the amazing job she did taking care of the rooms. Deury kept all of our rooms stocked with water and snacks throughout the whole nine days we were there. The bars and bar staff were very good as well. Ronny, the bartender in the evenings at the preferred club lounge, was amazing. He took the time to talk to us and even remembered our drinks of choice. Antonio at the preferred family pool was also very fun and did an outstanding job of making sure everyone in the family was taken care of. Alejandro, at the preferred adult pool was our favorite bartender and even took the time to make sure one of his coworkers knew what our drinks of choice were when he had the day off. Alvaro, a server at the main pool was also a highlight for us. He took care of the whole family and made sure our daughters had what they wanted and needed each day. On the beach, Randy was the absolute best. The restaurants were very good, and we could always find something we enjoyed. Our favorites were the French, Italian, and Asian. We have been to many Hyatt all-inclusive resorts and Dreams Onyx had the best Teppanyaki table experience (food and show) of any resort so far. The falafel at the Mediterranean was amazing. Even better than the food was the service from the staff. Edwin Santana was our server on multiple occasions. He was funny, very easy to talk to, and did an amazing job of taking care of us. Both Edwin and Benerito handled an amazing evening when we dined in the wine cellar one evening. Perhaps our favorite person working in the restaurants was Stefany. She oversaw the preferred club lunch as well as several of the dinners in the restaurants. My wife even started to refer to her as family. The entertainment at the resort was amazing. The Rock Show, Broadway Show, and White Beach Party were our favorites. The entertainment team was fun, full of energy, and always engaging. Our daughters especially loved dancing with them every afternoon at the pool and every evening in the plaza. Special shout out to Versace, La Vero, Chanelin, and Scooby for making our days so much fun. The staff member who made this trip the most special, was our butler Juan. He drove us to dinner every night in a golf cart, checked on us multiple times during the day, made sure snacks and water were in the rooms, and delivered many special experiences throughout the week. We were told that he was the best butler at the resort and he proved that the whole week. He truly is part of our familia.

Dreams really was a dream!
This resort BLEW us away! Check-in: We arrived around 3pm and being preferred the check in was quick and room was ready. Food: Everywhere we ate was amazing! We didn't do the buffet as we were able to have a sit down breakfast, we ate lunch at the beach grill and did the restaurants at night. Room: We stayed in the adults only preferred section with the semi-private pool - would highly recommend. The room was amazing (although slightly dated but to be expected since it's not a brand new resort). The bed was comfortable, the pillows were awful. Butler: Our butler was Leo; I have never met a resort staff member who cares more about his guests or his job. This man was exceptional during our entire stay. Service: The staff were ALWAYS so welcoming and nice. Anytime you passed them, they would smile or say hi. The service was great! Beach: We didn't have any seaweed during our stay and the beach was always clean. The only downfall was the ocean was pretty rough, so if you aren't a strong swimmer or don't like waves you might not love this part of Punta Cana. Pools: So many pool options and they never felt busy. Lazy river and slides made us feel like a kid at a water park. Golf Carts: In the evening this made it super easy to get from Onyx to Breathless. Didn't think I would like this but they were great and always available. Resort Recommendations: It would be great if the resort switched from the room card system to the wrist band cards. Our flight ended up getting canceled on our last day and we were put up in Barcelo Beach - going from Dreams to Barcelo Beach was night and day difference. It made us realize how great of a resort Dreams was. Thanks Dreams!
