BEWARE
If you like a room that smells like a dirty motel room from the 80s, then this is the place for you!!! Currently here (November 26-December 10). The first week was great. We didn't get the king bed and top floor that we asked for, but we pushed the two smaller beds together and it was nice. Nice, new upgraded room. Staff is quick to dismiss you and tell you that they are sending someone, just to not show up at all, so we've learned to go to them instead to get the things we need (water, towels, etc). Again, not a huge deal but definitely not 5 stars. Fast forward to two nights ago. Someone moved into our villa two nights ago and has been smoking non stop inside of their room despite the no smoking signs. Our entire room, sheets and clothes stink like cigarettes!! I've called the front desk and the Privilege Club multiple times yesterday to be dismissed. Last night it was so bad that we couldn't sleep all night so I walked in the pouring rain to seek help only to be told that they don't really enforce the no smoking rule, especially since they don't know which room it's coming from. Out of 18 rooms in the villa, 16 are occupied, 4 just landed last night, 2 left yesterday, and us, so that narrows it down to 9 rooms. Out of those 9 check who checked in 2 days ago and go speak to that person! I've found solutions for them but they didn't help. Their solution was to instead move us with an infant late at night to an old dilapidated room. So even if you upgrade it doesn't matter. BEWARE!!

Kinda Mid For 5 Star
The hotel is nice, staff are nice. The food has a nice variety with different themes every dinner. The restaurants are also nice with good food; I would recommend the Brazilian ones. Most of the drains are clogged so theres a lot of flooding. Our bathtub had a hole near the bottom, and water was leaking all over the floor from the drain. Water also drains very slowly. The ocean floor is all smooth sand, so you wont get scratched or hurt. The wifi is horrible; sometimes it works, sometimes it does not; don't even think about gaming or watching a LIVE video. The salt in the buffet given to you is too big for the salt holes in the jar, and it is impossible to use it without opening. Our room was comfy and room service was excelent; they provided soap, tissues, and free drinks. The pools are clean and big; there are 2 small water parks, which are more like splash pads. They provide transport to the lobby and beach with mini golf cart-like buses. There are also coffee machines in the lobby which I think is a great plus. There are gift shops. I would recommend this but prefer the hotel Ocean El Faro.

Nice but not the Bahia I remember
Lets start in the beginning. Check is was kind of a disaster. We had everything downloaded on our phones, passports scanned and got to the lobby after 3 pm. Room was not ready. Once in the room, my wristband key didn't work. Walk back to lobby with my bags. New key received, back to the room and key worked, but the air did not. Back to the lobby where I was not getting any help ( I hate to say it but it seemed like it was cause my Spanish is not what it used to be ) Losing patience, ( were 90 mins into check in process) I may have dropped the "F" bomb sort of under my breath , well that got the manager out and he had no problem upgrading my room to a wonderful room in Villa 24. Room was fantastic , zero issues with the room.. Short walk to pool and beach and both were amazing. The buffet was average at best, but its breakfast We ate at the Japanese restaurant, the steak place and El Olivo. All were A#1 !! ( make reservations before you check in on the app ) the app could be a little easier to navigate I have been to other Bahia's and this one needs a little attention and maybe a coat of paint. All in all I give this place a 5.5 to a 6 on a 10 scale For the deal ($$$) I give it a 8 I stayed at the Majestic Colonial just down the beach from Bahia and If I end up back in the D.R. I would prob stay there.

I would not recommend to anyone even though Bahia is a big name in tropical countries.
Lots of mosquitoes every where, even in the room. When ever you have a problem and need help, they always send you to front lobby to get help where they have only 2 staffs working and they asked you to stay in line where you know it's gonna take forever for them to help you. Room service is very poor. When ever you call, will take them 2 hours to get what you need. Language is the big problem over here, if you don't know Spanish than forget about this resort. Go somewhere else. Not enough amenities for kids. Though, kids club was very nice, all the staff in kids club was very good. They were good taking care of your kids.

Poor service in general
Very poor service everywhere… front desk, room service, buffet, pools, poor service of internal transportation, bad smell in buffet area, poor service at restaurants, free amenities are not free, they charge you for “training” and even lounge chair at the beach.
