    Lovely Holiday

Am gonna start with what some may call negative but personally we didn't. There is currently some work being done on the complex, which doesn't impact on any enjoyment, to bring all areas up to a specific standard. These changes are well identified around the areas concerned. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but I would advise anyone wherever possible to upgrade to V.I.P status ( grey band ) as this will give you access to all restaurants and bars around the vast complex. If you don't then you are limited to the bars and restaurants relevant to your specific hotel. You can still use all the pools and beach areas. During our stay we managed to visit almost all the hotels, pools and bars and enjoyed all of them. There is bar service around the pools as well as on the beach. Beach vendors are very polite and definitely not pushy. The entertainment was varied and some of the games were entertaining. There is a foam party at the Ambar Pool ( adults only ). A weekly white party is also evident. Every Thursday there is a Dominican Festival at the onsite Bahia Village, although we were a little disappointed as things were being closed when we arrived at 8pm and the show went on till 11pm. Each hotel has on site Guest Services and they are very good. Incorporated at each hotel is the trip staff ( we used them at the Punta Cana and they were also very good ). Prices are reasonable and the trips are very good, we'd certainly recommend Saona Island. The rooms are very spacious and modern. The maid service is good although we did have to ask for the soft drinks and water to be replenished on more than one occasion. Food quality was varied but very nice. There is an onsite ( building ) Food Truck were you order your food similar to McDonald's. The Al A Carte restaurants are also very good, if you get chance to book into Rodizio ( Brazilian ) don't have a big starter salad unless you've got a huge appetite. I have loads of other things to say and recommend which are all positive so please feel free to drop me a question Above all we will be back

    Lovely stay

Bellman Juan Carlos went above and beyond for my family. Especially for my aunt who required extra assistance. He should have a promotion!! Just outstanding. All the wait staff at the Italian restaurant were amazing especially Angel. He was so great!! My only wish was that the entertainment would speak English more. I would say the spoke Spanish 95% of the time

    Nice but needs more

Overall we enjoyed our holiday, but this was due to being upgraded at time of arrival. Our holiday would of been completely different if not. As a couple we enjoyed the adult only pool at Ambar, being upgraded we were able to use any hotel in the complex but only some of the restaurants in the evening. The food overall is average. The special restaurants didn't have the menus right with the type of style of food and all had a barcode to scan for a menu, we hated this we would like a paper menu. The buffet restaurants we awful apart from in Ambar, the beach restaurant at Ambar and the breakfast one at Esmeralda, which was more modern and less busy, shame this only opened for breakfast. The other buffet restaurants were busy, didn't look clean and looked very basic, food was average but everything was cold. Our room on the punta cana side was new, big and fresh, but we had this room as upgraded for free at reception, not sure why, they were having a lot of rooms being done up, but this didn't effect us as we heard no noise. The staff on a whole were lovely, my only complaint is the man at the Ambar pool bar, EDWIN, we found him very rude, ignored us a lot and wasn't friendly, we even got out the pool to get a drink and got back in the pool, this was quicker and they were more friendly. The beach, we used the Amber beach side, once again no children, beautiful beach, well maintained but sunbeds were taken with items left and this was every morning at 8am, all week we never got a sunbed directly looking tge sea, this should not happen as unfair. The entertainment in the day was good, entertainment on the evening was ok for us only because we missed stuff as not advertised or unable to view all the entertainment as a whole for the whole complex. To sum up our holiday is was nice but as a couple definitely book the Ambar hotel not the others.
