Gorgeous setting and incredible service - with some small catches

What a truly breathtaking resort. The views, the pools, the room - all gorgeous, and truly first rate. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here for our honeymoon with a few small notes. Most of the food options were exquisite- notably Suki, the Japanese restaurant, and the immense buffet at Market Cafe for breakfast. They do up charge you in a few of the restaurants for food like steak options - which feels odd for a place so expensive already. All-inclusive should mean all-inclusive, or else, don’t offer it on the menu. Did not enjoy the French Restaurant, Bisou, or Ember, the steak restaurant, but everything else was of high quality and variety of options. I was highly impressed by the entertainment group at the resort. I played beach volleyball multiple times and loved the enthusiasm from Sergio, Felix, Victor, Julio and the rest of the team. They had a great variety of options for entertainment, even on rainy days. The amenities were truly state of the art and gorgeous. Our room had a private swim out pool that was worth every extra penny. All the pools, lagoons, etc were very well maintained and felt very tropical. You could find private nooks everywhere or enjoy more populated areas to meet others. The spa was *chefs kiss*. We had 80 minute massages and hydrotherapy and this was easily one of our favorite days - though it did knock us out afterward for a well earned, deep nap! I love my masseuse Jessica, as well as our hydrotherapy guide Mattieas. Both were incredible and made us feel well taken care of. The spa facilities are also gorgeous. There is a “optional” presentation that sucked up 2 hours of our first day there trying to get us to buy into their vacation plan. But as honeymooners, it’s not something we could even remotely consider price wise. Be warned this is part of the deal here. We sat through it for vouchers for the spa, but not sure if I would make that same decision again in the future. It was too much of a time suck and pulls you away from your vacation. All in all - we met some truly lovely people here, and loved the customer service and options abound. All things mentioned, we would of course visit again.

Not worth the price of admission

Just got back after a week at Moxche, in the Preferred Club. This place is an 11/10 on aesthetics. Gorgeous from top to bottom. Stunning views from the rooftops of all 3 buildings, the grounds are lush, the pool options are amazing, and the beach area is also nicely set-up. It's a small-ish resort, so it's easy to get around on foot. Restaurants and bars are beautiful as well. Sitting at Bamboo at night, listening to live music - amazing! The setting is perfect. Service is hit and miss depending on where you go, when you go, and the time of day. One staff member stood out though; "Fettuccini" Alfredo (senor Belize!) at Sugar Reef was friendly and was working hard to make sure everyone around the pool was hydrated! Drinks: wholly inconsistent across the resort. For every 2 good drinks we were served, we'd get 1 bad one (incorrect alcohol, incorrect mix, something entirely different altogether). Food: It felt like the a la carte options were just ok for the most part. Nothing to write home about, let alone worthy of posting pics on the 'gram. We were expecting more, and lo and behold - if you were on the Impressions side, you got the true gourmet experience. Allora was the lone exception - The buffet was your basic fare. Pasta and super-toast stations were excellent though. Barefoot Gril was a great pool-side option. Wait times were inexcusable some nights. No reservations, even with Preferred Club, meant that if you weren't an early eater (6pm), you were going to be stuck waiting 30 - 120 minutes. "Just go have a drink and wait..." - yep, that works for some, but not others. One of the more disappointing aspects of this vacation. The nightly shows, in spite of rave reviews from the web, were typical of what you'd see at any other resort, except these ones are performed in a theatre. If you've never seen a "show" while on vacation, I can see the appeal, but if you've seen one, you've seen a thousand. We also met our concierge...on the last day of our vacation, lol. We were at Secrets Royal Beach in September, Preferred Club, and our concierge was in constant contact via WhatsApp. Stark difference in level of service between both resorts is part of the reason it would be silly to join their Members program. Would we come back or recommend this place? Given where else we've been relative to Moxche, I'd say no unless the price was right. I am stunned that people paid over $10,000 (CAD) for a week here. Not worth that price, unless you have money to burn (in which case - go elsewhere).

An incredible experience at Secrets Moxché

Our experience in Secrets Moxche has been incredible, with great food, incredible scenery, and attentive service throughout. The resort is beautiful, with an abundance of quiet spaces to relax as well as lively pools and beach areas. We had a great experience with Jose and Julio, making some souvenirs to take back home. Both were incredibly welcoming, informative and we had a great conversation with both. I would highly recommend a visit to Secrets Moxché for anyone planning to visit riviera Maya.
