Resort needs repairs but saved by wonderful staff!
We visited Dreams in mid-October, as we have done for many years. Invariably, we always return because of the wonderful staff. But first I will talk about some issues that need to be addressed by Hyatt who now runs the resort. The staff absolutely saves the resort - but repairs are desperately needed now if Dreams wants to continue calling itself a four or five-star resort. It advertises two hot tubs but has failed to repair the jets in the largest by the beach. We were preferred so could go to the other one, but it is boring over there and non-preferred club guests have no real hot tub. The ceilings everywhere are literary failing in - in World Cafe and on the 7th Floor. Gohan has been closed for 4 months - how long does it take to repair it? Hyatt should recognize this is an older resort in a tropical environment that gets rain and damp conditions often. They need to pony up some money to keep the resort at its peak. The water sports - lack of usable paddles on at least one day we used them. AND management needs to go find Luis Gonzales and get him back for the entertainment staff. No dinners on the beach like he used to have, no dinners over in the adult/now preferred side with shows (and you really need to change that policy back to adults and boring), no zumba on the beach, movies on the beach once out of 12 days, and no real connection to the entertainment staff. Where were they when it was raining - no one came to the lobby that I saw to try to entertain as has happened the last few years. Sebastian is trying, but resort is missing the energy of Julio and Roman and Luis. I hope the head of the entertainment staff gets better, but I am not sure really who that was because they never interacted with the guests. And crazy games was held like 3 times we were there in the entire 12 days and was the same game everytime?? That used to be one of the most fun time of the day. So those are issues that Hyatt and management need to work on. What they don't need to work on is their staff - which is why we come back to this resort year after year! Alexandra, Deysi and Tinny Tana at Coco Cafe in am; Anita and Alaberto at Coco Cafe in pm. Ronee, Olvera, Fernando and all bellboys. Alberto and Ariadna on 7th floor. Miriam, our maid. Rosalba - who keeps the 7th floor shining. Gabriela - who keeps beach area and bathroom shining. Julian at Oceana's in am. Sebastian - entertainment staff. Bartenders - Jorge, Amado, Eliseo, Lenin. Beach waiters - Ruben and Jhony. Waiters at night - Wilberth, Manuel, Jose at Portofinos. Alejandro and Isaac at Gohan. Man at kayaks - very nice. Fernando and Yanin - managers. But absolutely our favorite time of day was breakfast at the World Cafe. Those people are absolutely fantastic. All breakfast staff at World Cafe - Fernanda, Estephani, Eleno, Giovanni, and especially Maricruz, who makes the most wonderful eggs, omelets, and empanadas! But best of all was our server and dear friend, Rosivel aka Rosie!! Thank you for making our vacation magical. So Hyatt, match the energy of your staff, make the necessary repairs, and keep up with them. I expect to have the jets in your large hot tub working the next time we visit, or you can start calling it a large bath tub on your website. Open Gohan - it has a cool ambiance not matched when you have it in the World Cafe at night. And fix the ceilings!

Good Place For Families
Great place for families! We had a swim out room. We had two queen/double beds. We saw several natural wildlife creatures right from our room. When I called for maintenance, housekeeping or room service, it was top notch! The food left a lot to be desired unless you were in the Preferred Area and get to eat at Oceana. The breakfast and lunch there was quite tasty!!! The staff is amazing! Actually, the staff overall was amazing!! The building needs a lot of attention. Lots of leaks especially when it rains, but the staff does its best to tend to the issues. The resort is located in a really nice area. ( One hour from Cancun Airport.) You can walk to the marina and do some souvenir shopping and /or swim with the dolphins and feed the manatees right in this area. You can see large fish and even some stingrays just walking along the sidewalk on your way to the dolphin/manatee rescue area. Which is about an 8 minute walk from the resort. There is also a tide pool out off of the El Patio side of the resort. You can see various marine life without getting in the water, or you could snorkel in safety.

Excellent mini vacation
We went on a quick trip to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. The stay was better than I expected. The rooms were very nice and new feeling. We had our own private pool off the patio. We really liked using that. The service was top notch at the bar and at the restaurants. I would definitely go again. The only downside was that there was no adult only pool and some of the children in the pools were annoying.

Family vacation
The entertainment crew was amazing- Sebastian was so great with my 4 kids and kept them involved and entertained every day! He played pickle ball, Zumba, beach volleyball…. Included them in evening festivities as well! Along with just chatting with them from time to time while they played on the beach and found shells! Highly recommend!!
