    Love the place and people

Very nice greeting on arrival , not too pushy selling stuff. Taken to the room quickly and efficiently. Room was clean and nice nothing to moan at there. Restaurants all ok best for use was the Asian and the French, the breakfast buffet was really great have to mention Junior and Kimberly who were stars but all were at their game. Did wonder about the large amount of cats but none seen at all. Did see a couple of mongoose and the beach full of fish. We took the catamaran trim to snorkel and go to jacks bar very good and not to energetic staff really made it fun ( beware of the fire coral it bites ) . Getting ready to leave everyone very helpful sorted out and airport great please book a lounge in and out really worth it, the get you through everything at speed. The sunsets and rise fantastic Will be back love the place and people

    May 2025 Trip - Wedding

We chose this resort for our wedding here in May 2025 and this is hands down THE BEST resort in Jamaica. Cold towels on arrival, an amazing smelling lobby, a thorough and welcoming check in process, beautiful resort, and amazing food! We stayed in the Preferred Club Swim Out room and let me tell you - worth every penny!! Continental lounge with a bar, breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and not one but TWO butlers that go above and beyond for you! We had the pleasure of having Andre & Davion and they were the sweetest, most helpful guys we could have asked for. From making dinner reservations to elevated room touches like champagne & cheese and crackers (without having to even ask) and even gathering our belongings from the wedding center so we could just relax. Can’t begin to brand enough about this place and Andre & Davion enough. We truly feel at home here and are so sad to leave and return to the real world. If you’re thinking about booking your next trip here, DO IT!!

    Never Wanted to Leave

I cannot say enough great things about Secrets Wild Orchid. I felt right at home from the moment I stepped out of my shuttle. I arrived before check in and was able to leave my luggage and dive right into all the resort had to offer. I traveled solo to later meet up with friends, but I felt welcomed from the start. The food, assistance with booking excursions, entertainment and housekeeping all more than exceeded my expectations. The views and beach were to die for. This is the perfect place whether traveling solo, as a couple or a group of friends. Bring your curiosity and appetite!

    It was okay

We visited for our honeymoon and we found the hotel to be fine overall, but I wouldn’t recommend it for couples looking for a romantic break. The entertainment team was fantastic both during the day and night, relaxing by the pool could be challenging due to the noise of the pool parties. This resort is definitely more suited to groups of friends than couples. Most of the staff were great (Shanice who worked around the pool was especially amazing) but tipping felt heavily expected. Another UK couple even raised this with the front desk and were reassured that tipping wasn’t required, but nothing changed during our stay. Also, we wish we knew this before we went but the hotel strongly prefers USD over JMD. We rented a cabana, which felt very overpriced, $110 for shade and some food isn’t worth it when regular loungers still offer drink service. Prices across the resort are generally inflated, with souvenirs costing more than double compared to the airport (e.g., a $12 shot glass at the resort was $5 at the airport). On the plus side, the food was good, free room service was a nice touch, and there’s a decent selection of restaurants, though you may wait to be seated if you come down past 630pm, especially some are closed. Overall, we had a good time. Would we return? No. But would we recommend it to a group of friends visiting Jamaica for the first time? Yes.

A Disappoint Shift From Our Favorite Resort

This resort used to be our go-to for getaways – we spent our honeymoon here and returned twice more. Sadly, since Hyatt took over, it’s been a dramatic change for the worse, and we won’t be coming back. While the staff remains excellent, it’s evident that the new management is more focused on maximizing profits than delivering the exceptional experience we once cherished. The constant upselling – from Tomahawk steaks to lobster and massages – went from being a nice option to feeling like a requirement, which really undermined the laid-back, relaxed vibe that used to define this place. The biggest letdown, however, was the aggressive push to rent cabanas. What was once a fun, luxurious poolside experience now feels like a desperate attempt to generate more revenue. To make matters worse, there were hardly any shaded lounge chairs available at either the pool or beach. Guests were scrambling to find a spot, leading to a frustrating and chaotic atmosphere. The energy at the pool became disjointed, with people seeking a livelier vibe pushed into quieter spaces, and vice versa. It completely disrupted the balance that used to make this resort so special. The lack of shade also impacted our spa experience. For the first time in three visits, we couldn’t book a couples massage because sunburns and massages simply don’t mix. This was clearly the result of management pushing for an upsell of shaded areas, all in an effort to squeeze every dollar from guests. Ironically, it ended up reducing the amount of money they made off of our stay. Finally, the influx of cruise ship day-trippers turned the resort from an intimate, exclusive retreat into a crowded, high-traffic stop. What once felt like a luxurious escape now feels more like a money machine. If you're looking for a peaceful, adults-only experience or a fun poolside atmosphere (provided you can book a cabana for an upcharge), this is no longer the place for it. We’ll be looking for our next vacation elsewhere. Jamaica is still beautiful, but we’ll be heading to Sandals or Excellence for our next romantic getaway.
