Beautiful Setting and Great Staff!
We just returned from a relaxing weeklong stay at Secrets Papagayo and overall had a wonderful time! The resort is tucked into the hills and surrounded by lush greenery—it really feels like a private, tropical hideaway. The setting is truly stunning. We stayed in one of the bungalow-style rooms, which was spacious, very private, and incredibly quiet. Perfect for unwinding after a day in the sun. The staff across the board were friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile and making sure we were taken care of. A special shoutout to William in the Preferred Club Lounge—he made the best smoked Old Fashioneds and had a great way of interacting with everyone. The lounge itself was a lovely place to cool down and relax in the afternoons. We enjoyed all of the restaurants, with our favorites being Himitsu and the Seaside Grill. The entertainment team also made a great impression. They had great energy and did a fantastic job getting guests involved. I especially loved the aqua stretching class and the kayaking tour—such fun ways to start the day! That said, there were a couple of downsides. During our stay, there were a lot of weddings and private dinners, which unfortunately meant the Aqua Restaurant was closed 6 out of the 7 nights. Our room was very close to Aqua, so we noticed the activity and missed being able to enjoy the space in the evenings. Still, the beauty of the resort, the friendliness of the staff, and the peaceful setting made this a memorable trip. Just be aware that depending on the week, private events may affect access to some amenities.

MANAGERS OF RESORT PLEASE READ!
You have some of the best staff of any resort. Our one bad experience was paying $200 for an extremely poor dinner at the wine cellar. Worst dining experience we had and only one we spent extra on. Nothing was done to the expected standard. Gave all our notes to Caroline at the front desk. Weddings are kind of annoying, they had 6 in the week we were there and closed down multiple restaurants and areas of the resort and brought a not very pleasant party crowd to the resort •The amstar tours are amazing •All the food even the buffet is great Big shoutout to the people at Seaside grill and Aqua. Best places for food and people. Special shoutouts to Seaside grill • Yesner, turning our only bad experience at the resort into an amazing one. Please consider putting him as a manager or higher up he was our absolute favorite and the best server not only in his work but in his personal skills •Armando the manager friendly and always going above and beyond Aqua •Ivan the manager polite efficient and always doing more for us • Ben •Christopher • Ingrid All the shuttle people were amazing as well, friendly, caring, and always doing more for us.

Get rid of the constant bombardment loud DJ music
Great location that is environmentally hampered by loud DJ music 12 hours each day! Felt more like college spring break rather than a restful resort for adults.

Way to Go Entertainment Team!
Overall, the resort was nice. Beware of the High-Pressured Vacation Club Salespeople. "We just want an hour of your time; this is NOT a timeshare." 3 hours later, we finally told the 5th person who tried to talk us into it no and we are done. We got up and left. The entertainment and food staff were wonderful. But I have to shout out to 5 of the entertainment staff that were exceptional!!! Thank you Jerick for the great snorkeling tour, Hazel and Mariana for their bracelet making and dancing skills. Merari and Tammy for inviting us to play games and their overall energy and kindness! Merari can dance and is great at getting others involved. :)
