BEACH IS DISGUSTING AND UNUSABLE (JULY)
Honest review! Hotel was nice, no complaints BUT my teen daughter and I flew from NY to Punta Cana for the "beautiful beaches." Once we got to the room, we set out to check out the hotel and couldnt wait to see the beach. When we got to the beach, we were extremely disappointed. The beach was disgusting! The seaweed build up on the beach was insane as well as the smell. We would have to walk through mounds of seaweed to get into the water. The water itself was brown and murky. We did not get to go in the water at all, the entire reason we flew to Punta Cana. I know this is not the hotel's fault per se but they should WARN guests before coming. I have an inground pool in my backyard and could have saved the aggravation of flying and immigration (which is a nightmare coming into Punta Cana). Regarding the hotel: very nice and clean, good shows at night. Pools are underwhelming. Some public bathrooms had no soap or toilette paper. Food was decent. No real complaints about the hotel.

Wedding Disaster & a Dirty, Disorganized Resort — NOT Worthy of Marriott Bonvoy
I rarely write negative reviews, but Royalton Bávaro deserves this. I chose this resort for my destination wedding after months of planning and communication. Everything was booked, deposits were paid, and guests were already confirmed. Imagine my shock when, the day before my final payment was due, I was told the venue I requested — the white Beach Gazebo — had been given away without a word. The excuse? That I only listed “beach wedding” on their form. Luckily, I kept my copy — it clearly says BEACH GAZEBO. They never called, emailed, or texted to clarify — they just reassigned me like I was insignificant. And when I asked to speak to a manager, it took TWO WEEKS to hear back, only to receive a 5 PM email saying they’d reach out next week. When they finally did, the manager informed me she’d been “filled in” by the planner, Ruchita — without ever hearing my side. That’s absolutely unacceptable customer service, especially from a department manager. The wedding department is disorganized, unresponsive, and careless with your once-in-a-lifetime moment. And the resort itself? A total letdown. Our “Luxury Junior Suite” was dirty on arrival — filthy mirrors, grimy floors, nothing restocked. Every guest in my group had a different experience: some had snacks, some had toiletries, some had neither. Room service is advertised as 24-hour — it’s not. The vent in my room was black with what looked like mold. Hallways had dirty dishes piling up, and scuff marks made it look like a worn-down dorm, not a luxury resort. Some of my guests experienced intermittent power outages. One couple in our group had water raining down on their vanity from the room above. No urgency or accountability from staff. Everywhere you turned, someone was trying to sell you something — excursions, upgrades, “not a timeshare” presentations. One “concierge” blatantly lied to our faces about helping us — just to get us into a presentation for their benefit. It was nonstop upselling and manipulation. The Diamond Club is a joke. We were denied entry to the Ocean Side Grille for breakfast because we weren’t members — even though we paid premium prices for our stay. And forget about pool rules: the adults-only pool had toddlers and kids in diapers splashing around as parents laughed and drinks spilled into the water. There’s a Lazy River, but no floats unless you bring your own or pay a ridiculous price on-site. The buffet? Infested with flies, overcrowded, and filled with guests staking it out well before opening. Ceiling fans barely worked in this indoor/outdoor mess. Entertainment was bare-minimum: some kids dancing on stage followed by a basic staff performance. It felt more like a cheap cruise than a high-end resort. As a Marriott Bonvoy member for 20+ years, I can confidently say this is NOT representative of the Autograph Collection. My entire group — after months of anticipation and spending thousands — was ready to go home after just one or two days. Save your money. Save your wedding. This resort is not worth the stress, disappointment, or the Marriott name it hides behind. ~A totally disappointed Bride

Memories that will last forever !
The staff at this hotel made you feel at home! everyone was super friendly - pleasant and patient! anything you needed they were able to help. Our butler Ryan was always there when we needed him! always greeted us with a smile and handshake! He became a friend on their trip and we hope to see him again either in NY or DR! The room was super clean and always had yummy snacks and chilled drinks /juices for us. The shower is amazing for mommy and daddy to shower together OR mommy! it was an amazing vacation! the excursions were a lot of fun- book them right at the resort! ask for Lucky! make sure to show appreciation to the staff when your vacation comes to an end!

Sorry I cannot recommend
We had a beautiful stay with our family. Although some issues were very disappointing and even upsetting, the resort is absolutely beautiful. It’s huge so you never felt crowded. We shared some very memorable, and enjoyable times and made alot of wonderful memories. The kids loved it. The entertainment and bars were excellent. Adele, Queen, The Greatest Showman, Jennifer, Manager, was the best! She made it possible for us to get dinning reservations and made my son, Blake Chachere, birthday 🎂 so very special for us. Thank goodness, because we were very unhappy after two days of not being able to get a restaurant reservation unless you wanted to upgrade and spend $500 extra for an experience. You can’t book a reservation for any of the restaurants until you arrive and check in, then you still can’t make a reservation- nothing was available. The main area buffet was excellent for breakfast and there were several lunch options all around the resort. But, for dinner we wanted to dine in a restaurant, they had several great choices. Zen Asian, Zen Hibachi, Hunter Steakhouse, Rio Brazilian, Oceans Seafood, which is why we chose this resort. The food was so so- I wouldn’t go to Punta Cana for the food. Overcooked Tomahawk Steak, overcooked seafood, overcooked lobster, bland meat, seafood, and vegetables. Beautiful food but poor grade of steak- gristle throughout the NY Strip. I couldn’t eat it. The drinks were excellent. Lots of choices. Sweet, straight, fancy. Top shelf if you asked, their regular brands were great, drinks were strong, not watered down at all. Service was excellent. Everyone was happy, friendly, cheerful and so very happy to serve and make our stay pleasant. There were a few that weren’t and wanted a tip for anything they provided but, for the most part, excellent people, excellent service, happy employees. Marisol, our housekeeper was excellent, our room was clean, fresh, and very comfortable every day. Although, there was a smell throughout the resort and even in the rooms, it wasn’t the resort, it’s the geographical location. High humidity and sea grass, low tide conditions. The entire staff was friendly, fun, happy, and very accommodating. If anything, communication was the main issue. Especially with The Royalton Excursions. Either that or that particular staff member (Julio) was in on the scam with Scape. What he told us when we booked our excursion and what was expected when we arrived at the marina was not the same thing. Unfortunately, once we arrived, they wanted $900 in addition to the $900 we had already paid for a 4 hour private catamaran experience for our family. We refused to pay the additional amount after traveling 40 Minutes to get there. They left us stranded at the marina with no way to get back to our resort for hours with 25 members of our party. Small children and 2 elderly parents, in the heat & sun at the marina. And, we totally missed out on our catamaran excursion. And, lost most of the hours of our day, waiting around on concrete with no water, food or even a place to sit. Finally, we were able to get Alberto, manager concierge, at our resort to get transportation for us to return to the resort. Even though we had to pay $200 for that too. The other complaint was the lack of communication at the Hunter Steakhouse. I had to pay for two bottles of wine that I wasn’t told about. If we had ordered by the glass it would have been included but we weren’t offered by the glass, we were given a wine list to choose from. So, I ordered a bottle of white and a bottle of red for our table of 11 people. And, unfortunately, I couldn’t eat my steak. The NY Strip Steak was so full of gristle-I couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife. I asked for another steak knife, same! I heard the salmon was delicious as well as the flank steak. The Cabanas were wonderful- costly but well worth the cost. We enjoyed 2 cabanas every day of our stay except days on excursions. The staff was friendly, and so attentive, service was excellent, we really enjoyed our pool side. The lazy river was a huge hit!! Although, they don’t tell you that you have to buy the floats to float down the lazy river. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to do the Flowrider, we weren’t aware you had to pay extra for that too. The SPA was exceptional. Gorgeous Spa. Huge. Five star 💫 all the way. We had 80 minute massages for an exceptionally reasonable cost, access to whirlpool, sauna, and pool. Plus, they treated us to a 50 minute Sound Bath experience that was absolutely amazing. Our dune buggy experience with Road Off half day Buggy was exceptional. 5 star ⭐️ Highly recommend. Fun, safe, full of surprises. Their staff was great. The beach was a total disappointment, sea grass everywhere, couldn’t even walk on the beach. We were approached constantly by numerous people selling excursions, jewelry etc. We won’t be going back to the DR, Punta Cana, or Marriott Royalton Bavaro that’s for sure. Tropical Dominican Transportation was great for the most part. Only issue, on our arrival they came very late and weren’t holding a sign as we were told they would with our name on it. Therefore, finding our private car and driver was a 30 minute mixup, confusion, delay, and uncertainty. Once we connected, they made up for it. Fortunately, our return transportation to the airport was excellent.
