Just a few issues
Room was fine, except we were not able to access Netflix or You Tube, no internet. Tv guide was stuck on the date before we showed up, not a huge deal. Engineering guy, which he was nice, but he couldn't figure it out for us. Like others said, front desk staff is not welcoming, nor friendly. Most other employees we came across we're friendly, including housekeeping.

ok, but not great
The Marriott in Waikīkī delivers a decent stay, but it falls short of the elevated experience you'd expect at this price point—especially given the prime location. The hotel has a great footprint, just steps from the beach and close to restaurants and shops, which makes it convenient for first-time visitors. The views from the ocean-facing rooms are definitely a highlight—sunsets here are unforgettable. That said, the property feels a bit dated in places. The rooms are clean but basic, with decor and furnishings that could use a refresh. Service was polite but inconsistent—some staff were warm and helpful, while others felt rushed or disengaged. Housekeeping was reliable, but small touches you'd expect from a Marriott (like bottled water replenishment or thoughtful amenities) were hit or miss. The pool area is often crowded and lacks the relaxing ambiance you'd hope for in a Hawaiian resort. The resort fee covers some basics, but you’re still left wondering what exactly you’re paying extra for. On-site dining options are convenient but nothing to write home about. Overall, it’s an okay choice if you’re loyal to the Marriott brand and want a central Waikīkī location—but if you're looking for something with a more personalized, memorable, or luxurious Hawaiian feel, you might want to explore other hotels in the area.

I would try another hotel next time.
My family and I booked this hotel and flight through Costco and stayed 7 nights in the month of June 2025. We have traveled to Maui, Kauai, The big island, and now this one. The island has a lot to offer. But as far as this hotel goes…. Let me start with the good things….. -great location - beach is across the street with a wave wall kids can easily play without giant waves. -In the main area of Waikiki. - close to Dimond Head trail -beds are comfortable -pillows are comfortable -you can barrow chairs OR boogie boards for the beach for free. (Two at a time) -take towels located at the bottom floor for the beach. The negative: - the parking was $60 a NIGHT. EXPENSIVE. wracking up our bill to $500+ before even settling into the room. This was not disclosed at the time of booking) - The kid pool area was not kid friendly. My kids kept slipping and falling on their ass walking around. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! they need to make the floor slippery resistant. We didn’t stay at the pool that long for that reason and only visited it ONCE while we stayed here. - Breakfast is expensive - Very noisy at night. Didn’t expect it to hear so much and couldn’t sleep. -the room felt like it was leaning to one side and very unleveled. It felt off and sketchy. -parking lot was always full and a hassle to get out of and and find parking and do it everytime we wanted to leave the hotel. -

Great stay, a little on the pricier side
At first, we were put in a room on the lower level. I called the front desk and mentioned to them that when I was booking, the picture provided did not match the view we had. They quickly fixed that and put us in a higher level. Although it didn’t specify that the building RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BEACH was the “premium balcony”, the front desk made sure our view got close to that. It was a great experience from our arrival, during our stay with our room attendant Myrna, til our discharge. The resort fee was also worth it because it included rental like beach chairs & boogie board. Will stay at Marriott again when we come back to Hawaii All the staff were friendly to both me and my husband and my little son Just keep in mind, self parking is $60 per day & their parking tends to fill up at night so there’s not enough for the guests.

Quality Room, but with a Steep Price Tag
If you can look beyond how expensive parts of your stay will be, the Waikiki Beach Marriott is a solid Hotel nestled on the edge of Waikiki promenade. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the property to anyone looking to explore the Waikiki area and beyond. Pro’s: - Great location, everything Waikiki has to offer is within walking distance. Easy to get to the beach and to Diamond Head, not too expensive in a Uber to Pearl Harbour and the International Airport - View from the 1 bedroom junior suite (ocean facing) was fantastic. Many of the rooms on a high floor have awesome views - Modern, clean, and well appointed room. The room was thoughtfully designed and spacious - Conveniently, Starbucks, shops, and several restaurants are all located on site. Con’s: - Really expensive: A breakfast buffet will set you back $48, or $31 for a continental breakfast per adult (plus tax). This feels high given the nightly resort fee is $58.98, this fee doesn’t seem to give you a great deal. Certainly nothing $58 worth unless you take fitness classes every day. Far better value available off the property for breakfast, check out ‘Hawaiian Aroma Cafe’ around the corner. It has a great selection at a more reasonable price - Parking your car will set back $55 plus tax too. Pro tip, some car rental companies nearby include free overnight parking - The staff are not overly friendly. Check in is fine, but the encounters outside of check in were not in line with expectations given the cost of staying on the property - Limited perks available for Bonvoy members (who booked direct), no lounge etc. For breakfast, only a complimentary continental buffet offered.
