    Great location, pool too crowded

Great location, fantastic staff members, food was good, beach access wonderful, talented musician singing at bar every evening. All these things should have resulted in a five star review, unfortunately the pool area is is too crowded with not enough seating for the number of guests. If they added lounge chairs on the large grassy areas at Sheraton Maui just like the Maui Marriott does further South on the beach, then there would be enough seating choices for everyone to enjoy. And the mattress pads on beds slipped around creating uncomfortable wrinkles during the night.

    Could have been perfect, but....

We stayed at the Sheraton Maui to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We got a room in the Moana building and it was excellent: spacious, comfortable, with a spectacular ocean view from the balcony. We sat out there and watched the sunset every night. The resort grounds are lovely and well-maintained from everything we saw. Staff was welcoming and flawlessly polite. Hawai'i and Ka'anapali Beach are true treasures and the Sheraton Maui does right by them. There were only a few irritating aspects of our stay that others should watch out for (and, hopefully, that resort management can straighten out). First, if you're staying in Moana, be advised that getting to the beach, pool, restaurant, coffee shop, or any resort services involves a hike: three elevators and several long corridors. Between Moana and the resort courtyard, there's nothing, not even a snack bar or coffee stand. Second, guests come to the pool at the crack of dawn, place towels down on pool chairs to "reserve" them - and then walk off to breakfast, or back to bed. Sometimes they never come back to the pool at all! Management allows (and rewards) this behavior: any towels on chairs before the pool opens should be removed, and abandoned chairs cleaned up periodically. There's more than enough for everyone if this kind of rude selfish behavior is not permitted. Lastly, our room itself was a little lacking in functionality. We had only one outlet per bedside table, very little airflow in the bathroom, and for how tempting it was to sit on the balcony, the patio furniture was not comfortable at all. All in all, none of the above should dissuade you from staying at the Sheraton Maui. Just some things to consider. We had a great time and would strongly consider returning for our next milestone anniversary!

    Kid hell

If you want a nice, relaxing experience this is not the place for you. It’s as if a lands end catalogue came alive, with 80% of the models being kids. Perhaps if parents learned how to do their job it would be more bearable, but they are EVERYWHERE. It’s as if one paid to experience a locust infestation.

    A Wonderful Stay

My family of 6 stayed here 5 out of the 7 nights we were in Maui. We loved the charm and character of this resort. The green space and large lawns made the resort feel so spacious and less cramped or crowded than the other resorts on Kaanapali Beach. We enjoyed spending evenings playing games, eating dinner, or watching the sunset on the lobby porch overlooking the resort/beach. I've read some reviews that the resort needs updating. We stayed at a trendier and more updated resort the other two nights we were on Maui but found ourselves wishing we were back at the Sheraton! It has the best beach on the strip and just a wonderful and unique atmosphere. Our only complaint is that my husband has titanium elite status with Marriott which didn't offer any real benefits at this location. Anyway, we can't wait to return as we have so many wonderful memories staying at this resort.

    Fantastic resort and vacation!

We had a great 10 night stay at the Sheraton! Outside of our safe not working (someone came within 20 mins to fix), and bathroom not super clean when we checked in, we had a great stay! We lucked out and somehow got the breakfast buffet included with our room - it was amazing, with the hot choices changing daily. The staff were very friendly and awesome anytime we had to deal with them. We were travelling at an off-peak time (early Feb), as hardly any children or noise at all. The resort is quite spread out, which I much prefer rather than the closed in and crowded resorts down the strip. We ate at every restaurant at the resort as well, food was amazing every time. I found the resort to be clean, there were always beach chairs available around the pool. I can't say enough about the resort. I don't know why it's not rated higher? I'm already wanting to plan our next trip back! (Just wish it wasn't soooo expensive!)
