This was our 9th time at this resort. It never disappoints. Easy and quick check-in. It's beautiful and very clean. Good food with terrific service. Covid test before leaving was very well organized and quick. Did a great job organizing activities of beach and water volleyball. For these times, the resort is FANTASTIC!
Excellent Experience (minus the pillows)
Everything about our trip to Puerto Vallarta was excellent. The check-in process, hotel staff, entertainers, and food and beverage services were friendly and relaxed. I would definitely stay at this property again on future trips! My only complaint is that the pillows were terrible, but I worked around this by stacking 2 or 3 together.
Wonderful trip for our first time
The hotel was beautiful, the staff was wonderful and other than forcing masks on us to go into restaurants, the stay was amazing. Excellent room, friendly staff amazing ocean views. We will definitely be going again.
Refreshing beach time!
This is our fourth visit to the Riu Palace Pacifico. ROOMS: Request a high floor for a better view and a quieter stay. We prefer spending a little extra to get a jacuzzi suite because it is on the end of the floor directly facing the water. The rooms are much larger with a huge walk-in closet, large walk-in shower and gorgeous views. Here again, the upper floors are better. SHOWER/TUB: Take care as it can be extremely slippery. WATER: The water from the room sink is NOT for drinking. We put a plastic bag over the faucet to remind ourselves not to use it for brushing our teeth. They supply plenty of bottled water and soft drinks to the room daily. AIRPORT ARRIVAL - Do NOT stop and talk with any of the airport people on your way out. Keep moving to the outside of the airport. If you have a transfer arranged, do not talk to ANYONE until you reach the curb EVEN if they say they are with the hotel. They are selling tours and time shares, may lie and say they are with the hotel or your transfer company, and will take much of your time. NO hotel people are near the customs area. Do NOT stop, just go OUTSIDE the airport for your transfer to the hotel. Outside the airport people are very helpful and willing to direct you honestly. TIPPING: I always take a pouch with lots of $1 and $5 bills for tipping. It really doesn't add much expense to the vacation, but is tremendously appreciated by the local wait staff, although it is not expected. I figure that in the grand scheme of things, tipping a couple dollars to five dollars at each meal cost me less than $90 for the six days and certainly made a huge difference to the waiters. Leaving $2 - $3 tip each meal gets great service, but let me tell you, we found that leaving a $5 tip got over the top service. They were pulling out our chairs, refilling drinks quickly, carrying our plates, knew our drink preferences and got them ready as we reached the table, and looked for us as we approached the dining area. I also remember the room maid at the end of our stay. SERVICE: When eating in the main buffet restaurant, service is much better and more relaxed if you eat earlier when they are not as busy. If you can get Alonsio in the outside seating, he will take amazing care of you. Hugo and Lalo were also extremely good servers. COFFEE machine: self-serve in the back of the Toscana Restaurant. Fantastic. We stopped by here often and got a cappuccino "to go". Money changing - It is actually to your advantage in the market in Bucerias and at the little stores along the beach to pay in dollars, so take smaller bills so you can barter. Everyone except the hotel stores expect you to barter. The hotel will not change U.S. Dollars. BOOKING: If not already a member, I recommend that you join Riu Class loyalty program before your stay and have the temporary number added to your reservation to build points. You can build points for a future visit to one of their properties. They offer a 10% discount for AAA when you book directly through the 888 number and it also gives you a better chance of getting a good view when you book with them rather than a "discount" travel site. The really great thing - your reservation is totally refundable until three days before arrival, includes transfers to and from the airport by car, and a free covid test if you need it to return to your home country. As others have said, if you want an extensive kid's program or lots of nighttime entertainment, there would be better hotel choices in the area for you. If you want a lovely vacation with beautiful views, great beach walking and good food, this is your place! ALL IN ALL: It was a marvelous vacation and we will most definitely return SPECIAL TREAT: If you enjoy a nice spa, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND walking down the sidewalk two hotels from the Riu Palace and treat yourself to a luxurious hydrotherapy at the Tatewari Spa located at the Villa del Palmar Flamingos resort. For just $20 USD per person you can enjoy their upscale Spa. I recommend walking down to tour the spa and make a reservation while there as they can be quite busy. The elegant relaxation is a pure treat. It is my favorite thing to enjoy in the area and I thoroughly look forward to going every other day while I am there. (Note: If you enjoy going to a spa, you will find the one at the Riu Palace to be sorely lacking and of no comparison.) You can get a massage here as well but I just thoroughly enjoy the hydrotherapy circuit with the sauna, steam, jacuzzi, waterfall shower and cold plunge followed by cucumber slices and a cold towel for your eyes, a clove and cinnamon scented heat wrap for your neck and a head massage while you rest on a towel covered chaise lounge chair, listening to the soothing sounds of the flowing water. Worth every penny and I tip $5 or $10 for the attentive service. It is heavenly! You will feel totally pampered and ready for a nice evening out!
It was nice trip!
It was good service and kind. My kids had fun time at Riu, I was also, too. The food was great quality. The managers were really kind, and they helped us many things. The pool was really big and clean. But, I was sorry that the Kids’ Club was closed. We had a really nice trip.
