Great stay in Rio Grande
Had a great stay here with my wife. Stayed 3 days using a TravelZoo voucher (which I would highly recommend as it's a great value). Resort is a little dated but overall very nice, well done, plenty of activities. Golf course was stellar. The beach is gross - the water was dirty and there were mosquitos everywhere. The restaurants were nice. Pools were enjoyable. Nearby: El Yunque, ziplining, beaches. About 45 minutes drive from San Juan. Good place to getaway and disconnect for a few days.

Go elsewhere!!!
This has by far been the worst Wyndham experience. The staff at check in is not friendly at all. They are not pleasant and I feel my business was not appreciated. I had to ask to get my room cleaned which is unacceptable for the price of the rooms. When I checked in the room had the smell of bug spray but the maintenance person said, “NO THAT’S A FRUIT SMELL” as if I don’t know the difference. Please book elsewhere because just the disaster started from the moment of check in.

GREAT and over the top
The Resort is 100% Great and over the top. The Resort is the best experience I've ever had staying anywhere in my life. The crew is very helpful and always smiling.Lysbeth and Angel were only two of the helpful people I had the most interaction with however everyone I had contact with was always positive.

Great Location & Friendly Staff
Views and beach are amazing. You can get mountain views and enjoy a variety of pools, restaurants and activities. Staff is super friendly. My only comment that is for those looking for local food and customs are going to be disappointed. The hotel is attached to a Margaritaville Time Share Club. Most of the food and activity is geared toward the US mainland sensibility. I wanted a more local cuisine.

Margaritaville vacation club Rio Mar Puerto Rico
At 8:45 pm on May 22nd I left my hotel room at the margaritaville vacation club by Wyndham to go downstairs and pick up dinner. I almost immediately encountered a large black shirtless male in our hallway that looked very intoxicated. He said to me “shut up” I did not say a word to him and tried to continue walking but he took a strike to my neck almost like a karate chop, hitting me with force in the neck. He then walked a few doors down and started stretching his arms out against the doors/wall. I went back to my hotel room to call security right away. After notifying security, I was informed that this man had also assaulted a security guard on property as well as bothering young children in the pool. This man was a guest staying at the hotel. The police showed up to the scene and were trying to track him down. After some time, they found him and arrested him off of the property. I gave my statement. The general manager showed up. She was nice and helpful and offered me a free breakfast. Unfortunately this has ruined my vacation. I do not feel as though the hotel did enough to protect the patrons safety or cared enough to make things right.
