Always a pleasure
We are a local family to the island of Oahu. We are business owners here and when we need a getaway(stacation) , the beachcomber by outrigger is the first on our list.An employee by the name of Christina always goes above and beyond the expectations. Our family is always pleased to see her as we are greeted with smiles and most definitely the Aloha spirit. We are frequent members of other hotel establishments but outrigger beachcomber sets the expectation experience because of Aloha spirited ohana employees like Christina. Thank you for setting the expectations during these unfortunate times of a pandemic. Mahaloz Jeremy Q with Jeramiahs island fusion .
I stayed in a king ocean view room at the Beachcomber for 5 nights and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location right in the center of Waikiki across the street from the beach, the International Market Place, and the Royal Hawaiian hotel. The room was clean, updated, and quiet (my room faced diamond head so it was away from the activity on the Main Street). I found the bed and pillows to be very comfortable. Mini refrigerator and coffee maker were available. This is a smaller boutique hotel, so you will not find a ton of shops or restaurant choices in the hotel, but there are plenty of options in close range. There is one shop in the lobby and there is Maui Brewing Company and the Aroma Caffe which opens up to the pool area for poolside cocktails. The package I had included breakfast, and we were given the option of daily breakfast at the Aroma Caffe, at Duke’s (across the street), or to split half-and-half. We chose half and half which was nice to be able to grab a quick bite at the Caffe on some days and enjoy a nice breakfast buffet Beachside at Duke’s (worth the wait for a table at Duke’s). The pool area is lobby level and includes a hot tub, access to pool towels, and sunblock. It overlooks Kalakaua Ave. and you can see the Royal Hawaiian hotel. No reservations were required. It was a little more crowded on the weekend and lounge chairs were taken we we stopped by, but during the week it did not seem as busy. Additional amenities include an activities center/concierge, laundry and fitness center (we did not use these). Valet parking is available for $40 a day and the valet service is very quick. Never a long wait for the car. I had half off parking so that was a nice discount. Overall it was a very comfortable stay, conveniently located. I have previously stayed at the Outrigger Reef which is on the beach but opted not to this time because I was unsure of the construction at the Reef. For this stay, I didn’t think beachfront with direct beach access was critical, and it wasn’t. Do I prefer a beachfront property? Yes. Would I stay at the Beachcomber again? Also yes. If beachfront isn’t essential for you and you are looking for location, I would recommend a stay here.
Staff is great, room and hotel is just ok
Michael was amazing upon check in. The upgrade was great but the AC in the room is terrible. It is extremely hot inside here. The hotel charges a $30 resort fee and $40 a day to park. Sometimes cheaper isn’t always cheaper. The location is fabulous as you can walk to everything and the shopping is endless.
Great location right in middle of Waikiki
Location: Loved the location right in the middle of Waikiki, next to International market Place in across from Royal Hawaiian. Beach access is across street. Staff: All staff were wonderful and nice. Valet was very quick, so the $40 fee was worth it. Room 412: Modern decor. Clean double bed, corner room with a very little water view between the hotels in front. You will near noise from band in the cafe nightly and street noise of cars vrooming by. If you’re aight sleepy ask for higher floor & hopefully they will give you a higher one. Nice baloney to just people watch. Bed: plush soft. The bed on right could use a new mattress as you can fell one side sink in a little. I like a firmer mattress so I can sense that, but if you like soft fluffy mattress, you’ll have no problems. Pillows nice and plush not too flat. Bathroom; Spacious with clean bathroom and standing shower. Shower had strong water pressure. Good flushing toilet. Toiletries: Their own coconut fruity Hawaiian scented shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, bar soap and lotion. Made in China so if you do t like that bring your own. 1 shower cap. Towels plush and soft. Keurig in room with pods of coffee and tea. Refrigerator, iron, safe and hair dryer. Did not use laundry facility, so I cannot rate. Did not use pool or hot tub so cannot rate. Hotel had a cafe called Hawaiian aroma. It is nice and convenient since all the breakfast areas have at least an hour and a half wait time. Food was just OK nothing special. Same goes for the coffee. If you want a good coffee walk down the street to Kai Coffee. Lobby was nicely decorated with plumeria perfume (I think) in the air. Quick elevators. I would stay here again, but ask for higher floor. We had a good experience. Hope this helps. :)
comfortable and great wifi, let down by misrepresented location
The only amenity I used to narrow down the hotel list for Waikiki beach was "beachfront". The Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger is listed as beachfront but is not. It is on the other side of a 4 lane road, Kalakua Ave, and required a 900 ft walk to reach the sand. I should have verified with google street view to see that the hotel was not on the beach. The room is a little small but comfortable and the wifi was the best I've ever used (170 mbps down, 50 mbps up), though the bed cover was dirty and sandy. We are on the 2nd floor so the balcony is literally on the roof of the lobby. I can step over the railing and walk on the roof. View is entirely industrial. Fridgerator is tiny.
