Sep 26, 2024Disappointing and not clean
We were quite disappointed with our stay. Upon arrival, we found a used plaster/band-aid down the side of the bed, which was unsettling and raised serious concerns about the room’s cleanliness. Although we were informed of ongoing renovations at check-in, the extent of the noise and disruption was far beyond what we anticipated, making it nearly impossible to relax. For a "deluxe" resort, this fell far short of expectations. To add to the frustration, we received conflicting information from the staff regarding luggage transfer to another local Loews resort. One staff member wasn’t sure, another said it wasn’t possible, while bell services confirmed they could. The confusion forced us to arrange our own Uber. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

From start front desk manager Anna saved my sons bday weekend and the start to our 20th wedding anniversary! We had arranged to stay at Royal Pacific but the reservation system fell through (said it was computer related) but they were sold me and couldn’t get me my room that I had so I called Portofino and I’m glad I did bc they entire staff starting with Anna welcomed my family! They had surprised my son with balloons and snacks and a card in the room upon arrival! We had a construction room but honestly we did t hear or see anything. We weren’t in the room that much! The beach pool was super fun for my son and even we went down it! Not bad! Sals pizza was very tasty and not badly priced. Good pizza though. Our 2nd night they surprised us with a bottle of wine and a cheese platter when we returned from the park which was very nice! They didn’t have to do that! I honestly say thank you for saving our weekend. My kids had a blast as did we! We will definitely be back since we have 1 more day of park to use and will most likely stay here! Thank you!

Beautiful and convenient hotel!
I loved this hotel. It was beautiful and easy to navigate. The boat to the parks was very convenient. There is also the option to walk. It's a little far but an easy walk. I was lucky enough to get a room right next to the Starbucks. The best were very comfortable and the room was spacious.

Very disappointing stay, standards have dropped and management aren’t interested in your complaint.
We’ve stayed at The Portofino Bay nearly every year since it opened and are currently staying here again at Club level. The construction is so vast that in all honesty, they should have closed the hotel. It’s covering a good 50% of the property. We were not informed of this work being carried out when we booked our stay in Sept 2023. I was told by hotel management that I’m lucky not to have scaffolding outside my window, when I complained about not being able to get out of the elevator due to workers blocking my exit. Yes, they are working within the hotel, along corridors, replacing windows, painting etc. I can only assume by this managers response that they’re tired of the constant complaints by guests. So I should just be grateful to have a room without a view of scaffolding!! The villa pool has scaffolding surrounding the facade with workers drilling, hammering away, not moving of vehicles… far from the relaxing atmosphere of past visits. The food in the club lounge has also dropped in standards, alongside the general cleanliness of this hotel. A very disappointing stay and attitude of management, hence my 1/5 rating.

Pros- comfy bed and pillows, large room, large bathroom, good breakfast selection in club lounge, luggage service at check in offered an excellent service, water taxi nice feature, close to universal parked and other amenities. Good coffee, tea beer and wine selection. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Nice spacious balcony and view of pool. Cons- room disappointing decor needs updating with chipped paint on all furniture and each corner of the floor has a build up of hair and dirt which looks very old. Stayed in club room no bath robes, room very far from lobby and club lounge with poor signage, net curtains had large holes in at eye level, water in room was $7 a bottle, bathroom door hits glass shower door automatically everytime producing a large bang ,chipped dishes, toilet flushes without use every 5 mins which made considerable noise during the night, staff at hotel universal ticket desk unhelpful to resolve minor issue.
