    Family stay.

Our grand daughter was in from up north for a volley ball tournament. We stayed one night to see her play. This place was of the lowest quality and I was shocked being it was part of Universal. Nothing to rave about. Bed was old and noisy. Room was not modern. Very noisy hotel. The food in the fast food spots there was absolutely terrible and expensive! The only good spot was the coffee at Starbucks. Took almost 1/2 hour to check in and another 1/2 hour to check out. Would never stay here again.

    Great hotel with..

Great hotel with even better location, plenty to choose from in the food selection. The rooms are huge for just a standard double that we stayed in too. Superb views of Volcano Bay and as it’s a Universal Hotel they have free busses that take you to CityWalk where you can go to Universal Studios or Island of Adventure or the water park. Not forgetting to add you get to go in the parks an hour before they open. Would definitely recommend here!

    Try surfside, maybe

The room itself just felt kinda gross. We showered with flip flops on. Weird because last year we stayed at surfside and found it to be really clean and well kept, but the room at dockside tower 1 was pretty gross feeling. I did Clorox the whole room first but still couldn’t wait to get out of there. Bed was also hard and lumpy. Of course after a day in the park you barely care about that. The lobby and dining hall were clean and nice. Busses were fast. Parking was good but hated to pay $20 to park. Service was meh. Check in took forever. There was never anyone at the bag check and had to wait so long for someone to come. Ticket pick up area was fast.

    Pleasantly surprised

We stayed at Dockside for a week in May before travelling down to the keys. I have to say I had my doubts at staying here as we have always stayed in a house in Orlando. But I shouldn’t have worried the hotel was great. We stayed in a 2 bed room which was actually too big for the 2 of us but it gave us more room to spread our stuff out. It had a large fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The pool was fantastic and great that it stays open late, I think it was 10pm most days and 11pm at weekend. We only used the market place to get a grab and go breakfast like croissants and fruit which was good as we didn’t need a large breakfast every morning. However when we did want a larger breakfast we went over the road to IHOP which is walking distance. Another good reason to stay here is the transportation to the Universal parks . They run every 15 minutes and run till very late at night. It was great that we could get a bus into city walk in the evening and we could both have a drink. The location of the hotel was great. It is situated on the International Drive with many restaurants in walking distance ( Red Lobster, IHOP, Applebees to name a few) Have recommended this hotel to friends. Would definitely stay again

    Much Better Than Expected

We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The 2 Bedroom Suite had an adequate kitchenette and the mini fridge was the size of a UK undercounter fridge. We live in the middle of the lakes, so we are used to quiet. The hotel was noisy up until 10:30, but then quiet and didn't stop us sleeping. The customer service everywhere was excellent, from check-in to check out. On my birthday I was given a badge which led to two very lovely and talented housekeeping staff singing me happy birthday in the elevator. The ladies didn't even work on our floor. I think they were tower 2 floor 3 and 7. We tend to self-cater and the kitchenette was adequate....It just has a microwave and one cup coffee maker. They supply disposable cutlery, plates and bowls. The Plates and Bowls are tough and we only used 2 sets in 15 days. The cutlery is not very useful as it wont cut pizza etc, Fortunately, we brought our own along with our US kettle, teapot, teabags.....lol On 2 occasions we used the food court. The food was price competitive and large portions. We ordered 2 Childrens meals and couldn't eat it all. Drink, Chicken Goujons and Fries for about £6 p/p. The food was properly cooked i.e. not burnt or undercooked. The fries on their own feel expensive but far better quality than the KFC across the road. The shuttle service is excellent. Next time we won't get a car as we didn't use it and parking it cost $20/day. Other frequent users of the hotel from the UK used uber to get around and used Uber from MCO to the resort. There is also the Universal Superstar Shuttle which services the airport to the hotel. If you want to get to Disney, there are no shuttles, so you will need a car or like the lady that had the same birthday as myself....use an Uber. We spend the mornings in volcano bay and the afternoons in Universal/Islands of Adventure. Finally if you are in Universal, the popcorn stand next to the minion restaurant serves an awesome banana popcorn. P&M aged 61 and 47 who enjoyed being 8 for the fortnight.
