I have good and bad to say about this resort. The good is amazing and the bad is unbelievable. I’ll start with the bad, the week prior to arrival I phoned the 1800 number to enquire about having snacks etc sent to the hotel before we arrived in the night with our three kids. I was sent from the 1800 number to the front desk of universal dockside. The staff member who took my call told me all items had to arrive 24 hours in advance and there was a charge of $5 per parcel. Items had to be delivered to the luggage desk. Pretty specific. Knowing this , I put directly into the instructions please use as few bags as possible and deliver to the luggage desk. I received not only a co formation it was delivered but photo evidence of it sitting on the appropriate desk and even a staff member present. When we arrived the next night at almost 11 with three hungry kids we were told they do not accept parcels. They got their manager who was smug (Rick) and told us another customer must have stolen it. Rick gave us a voucher for free breakfast. At this time we had ordered our shampoo conditioner snacks breakfast and beach towels to make a new things. We intended on going to universal in the morning, feeding the kids in the room and bringing some of our own snacks. Obviously this did not happen. Everything in the hotel was now closed so we had to leave to get the kids snacks and we had none of the things we planned on grabbing. I cannot stress the financial and general burden this situation caused. I forwarded the complaint further, they bounced it back to the hotel. Another manager told me that on camera staff bring all of my items into the staff only luggage area. We were given a few more coupons to eat at the hotel restaurant. This didn’t help our lack of water bottles or snacks or anything else that we needed at the parks. We were told a two week investigation would take place. I reached back out to the hotel but my emails were ignored. Imagine universal studios condemning their staff stealing from a family. I suspect Disney resort would find this unacceptable. Proceed with caution at this resort. I read multiple other reviews since about gurlest being stolen from by the staff here. The good- I have food allergies and the chefs were amazing to deal with. Hotel is clean and pretty. More life guards at the pool then bay watch.

    Very convenient to Universal

Loved the fact that, although this is a budget hotel, it didn't feel that way. What a great experience! I've stayed at a budget Disney hotel and it felt cheap, but not the ESR. It was so comfy and roomy. Food was okay, Bus was great and ran all day and night. Front desk staff were very helpful and informative.

    Amazing Trip

we’ve had a fab two weeks stay here at dockside inn and suites the weather was unusually hot for this time of year so the large open till late pools were a great touch after you’ve been walking around parks all day. The rooms were spacious for a family of 5. we asked to be put on the 14th floor where it was nice and quite, i heard people moan about the noise from levels 1-5 around the lift area but above that was fine. We never had a problem with the lifts untill the last few days over the bank holiday wknd which was to be expected with family’s taking advantage of the longer wknd. we made good use of the laundry rooms on levels 4&9 and other families that were going home would leave stuff in there for you to use like toasters and kettles which is fab as the room doesn’t supply this for you. we manage to get all our washing done before heading home. The food court is ok but it could be better, it tends to be the same stuff everyday and can get boring after a few weeks of being there. The pizzas were good value for money but lacked topping options for vegetarians the chip portions were on the smaller side and would have just about fed a toddler the salad bar was nice and fresh but lack meat options or fish to put on it. cocktails are pricey and not overly great in taste. however you are located on international drive with an i-ride trolley or lynx buses running every 20mins, from bus stop 14 and down at icon park there are lots of eatery’s and lovely restaurants to choose from like longhorns, cafe tutu tango, olive garden ect. There’s an ihop and denny’s just across the road and the red lobster next door which are all fab and reasonably priced. we found walgreens over the road to be a bit on the pricey side and the cues were heavy we found shopping at the 7eleven just next door to red lobster to be cheaper and the dragon fruit slurpy’s amazing on a hot day. we also bought beers and wines here and drank them around the pool. There are a few pointers i would suggest for endless summer to make it totally amazing. A clothes horse in the rooms to hang wet pool items, extra rails and towel hooks and somewhere to hang your clothes, shoe racks, supply a decent kettle and toaster, also the rooms are lacking in wardrobe space. the towels they give you around the pool and in your rooms are tiny and you need a few of them per wash or trip to the pool. a decent menu in the eatery with rotation of food choices each day. cheaper snack shack for families on budgets. we loved the meet and greets with the universal characters in the lobby and the star bucks on tap, the universal shop which sold merchandise, the buses to and from the parks are an excellent added extra and free to all guests which run untill quite late to city walk and the theme parks. we loved the extra hr early access to the parks too. All in all it was an amazing two weeks vacation even thou it was extremely hot and the humidity was somewhat consuming. we would definitely book here again but perhaps in early spring or autumn time. however it’s extremely good value for money and we’ve learnt a few tips and tricks along the way. you can get an uber or lyft to walmart or target for around $10-$15 each way depending on times of the day, i found target to be cheaper. get yourself some plastic bowls and plates for cereal in the morning and a toaster for pop tarts or toast. it keeps the cost down as food prices have risen drastically, we used a stanley cup will keep your drinks cooler. feeding a family of 5 on i drive varies from $80-$150 per evening meal park prices are roughly the same. i hope this helps have a fab holiday.

    The perfect long weekend

I visited with my family last week, the cleanness is exceptional, the staff are very friendly and helpful. I forgot my wallet with my sunglasses in the security safe box and returned to Miami. When I realized I didn't have it, I contacted them immediately and they sent to me via FedEx with everything inside, including cash, credit cards, and personal documents. I am very grateful to all the staff for the security that they offer. I recommend them 100%.

    13 - 28th May - Thoughts for families

Some of the reviews fail to mention some of the issues I experienced. This however is not a slander of the hotel as the stay was pleasant, but some insights that I though would be a deal breaker for some holiday goers. Firstly Pros; Good food hall - The food hall selection is excellent and available most of the day. The breakfast food is by far the best. The food is slightly expensive on average $15 per adult person per meal which does not include a drink. Friendly staff - well mannered and helpful all the staff were wonderful. The bar staff had a great knowledge of the drinks they supplied. catering/maintenance/cleaning staff were very well mannered, always offering guest help whenever they could. Clean room - The room was very well presented and the cleaners did a lovely job of keeping it tidy. Iron - A small but very useful additive was the availably of an iron. Didn't have to ask for one or loan one, it was also decent iron and ironing board which was a nice touch. Negatives; Shallow pool - There's plenty of pool space and plenty of sun loungers however at its deepest the pool is around 4ft deep. This limited the enjoyment that can be had within the pool. Pool Polices - This was the big one. Firstly only the few inflatable balls that the hotel provide can be used within the pool. This means no bats and balls, no ball of any kind, nothing else can be used to have fun with your families whilst in the pool. - No playing with your children. They are not allowed to be lifted or placed on shoulders, thrown, etc. This is a massive deal breaker for some families, having the freedom to enjoy time in the pool and some "rough play" which I believe to be some of the best parts of a vacation is a big deal breaker. These polices are tenaciously enforced by lifeguards. Expensive drinks - The alcohol prices are extortionate. The hotel charges the same price for alcohol as the parks which is laughable considering this is meant to be a budget hotel. Anywhere from $10-13 for a beer and always over $15 for cocktails (this is before tax and tip). It should however be mentioned that they provide a good selection of beers and the cocktails were well made. As before mentioned the bar staff were also very good (its not their fault those are the prices). The hotel is also located a good 20/25 minute walk from the main part of international drive meaning its quite a journey to a better priced bar. No freezer in room fridge - We had a family suite that came with 3 double beds, a fridge and a microwave. Surprisingly the fridge had no freezer compartment so no ice lollies for the family. Just a small negative that could be easily remedied. There is an ice machine at the end of each corridor however. All in all the hotel is very nice and the staff are fantastic, its nice to have a Starbucks on site as well. However if you're looking for a budget Orlando holiday I would say there are better alternatives. The early park admission to Islands of adventure and Volcano bay is nice but if you can go in off peek times of year you really don't need them. I personally couldn't say here again unfortunately, the pool depth and polices coupled with the price of the alcohol and its distance from international drives main walk are too much of a problem. Not being able to enjoy yourself within the pool and hotel is a big negative. If the problems I've highlighted don't concern you the hotel is lovely and the rooms are good value for money so I'd recommend it otherwise. Hope this insight helps.
