Great For adults and older kids
Room was spotless and cleaned daily, 16th floor had a great view of Volcano bay but could hear the 17th floor bar when we had and early night. We were unaware you could get plastic cups and fill up with water at the drinks machines for the first few days so spent a few quid on bottle water when eating there and the refillable cups you buy could of been placed better so you know they do them. Starbucks was a life saver in the morning as the American breakfast wasn't all that good but afternoon and evenings had burgers, pizza, noodle dishes and other stuff that was nice. most staff were very friendly and helpful but we had to repeat a few times with our norther accents. Pool isn't that big but was never really full and lifeguards are always on station, Volcano bay was just through the gate from the pool area so can always walk there if you want more fun pool time. We were asked on return home if the information pack we got when arriving was helpful, something we never got. We were unaware of the laundry room till last few days and seen it on a YouTube video. Would still go back to this hotel if we do Universal again.
Excellent stay , coming back soon .The whole team is offers a friendly stay .I definitely recommend thos hotel .The technology in the room is great .The rooftop bar offers great entertainment live Dj and great dinks
Good overall but not for all
Having upgraded to the king bed and higher room with park view, only 2 of the 4 benefited from all upgrades as 2 were left aon a very uncomfortable pull-down sofa rather than a proper bed. Luckily only stayed 2 nights or I would have asked for a different room. Advertising suggested 2 similar beds in the room but this was definitely not the case. Other facilities were very good and good food choices.
Second stay, 3rd booked…
So I have to be honest and say that our first stay was the day after opening, our second stay was in October 2019. We’ve just booked our 3rd stay for next September. I thought I’d written a review, but I hadn’t, so wanted to! We were a little apprehensive just before our 1st stay. Whether it’d been open on time. The size of the pool had flagged as a possible issue. Room size had been mentioned. The holiday was just wonderful. A few teething problems for sure-we had an issue with the washers etc, but they were to be expected and dealt with promptly. The staff are all wonderful-can’t do enough for you. The rooms and their views are just incredible. Spending our evenings up at bistro 17, taking in those views, drink in hand…we spent our anniversary here too, shortly before the world closed due to the pandemic. This is the hotel that converted me to a Disney girl, to a universal one. We spent Christmas in Cabana bay and I simply can’t wait to return next year. It’s hard to fault the hotel, it’s staff and the memories we made.
Nice - but overcharged
The hotel was very nice and clean. The pool was nice but fairly basic for young kids. The Urban Pantry was okay but the staff were not the most pleasant. The room was clean, but our shower door was broken. They did come to fix it once we reported it. The hotel staff were very nice at the desk…BUT…upon check-in we were double charged for our room. We spent the weekend trying to get it fixed. Ultimately they offered us a few things to make our stay easier. However, we are still awaiting our refunds. We have been told to wait 3 to 7 business days, which isn’t really fair when it’s their mistake. I would recommend being very careful at check-in as they are using “new systems” that can double charge and delay refunds. Also, be aware billing department is not readily available on the weekend!
