Great experience and great employees putting the last touch on a great place July 2018
One of the best experiences I have had traveling around the world. Extreemly clean beach(even with some seaweed issues, caused by nature in July 2018). We stayes at the Reserve Beach Resort part with a spaceuous apparment overlooking the beachfront of the Bavaro Beach. The Perosnal Concierge service and the service in general was top notch. we stayed for 4,5 weeks. and even if we where afraid this might be long for the family at the same place we did not want to leave when time came. The good thing was the possibility to visit different restaurants around the propery, so you got a great vatiation in offer and needs. absolutely a recomended spot. Even had our regular Beach beds every day.. All employees did a great job, non meantioned non forgotten. Keep up the great work.
I went in January 2019 with my husband and 2 small kids. We had the family concierge suite and enjoyed it. The VIP pool is amazing and we always had a beach bed first row or chairs by the pool with umbrella.
Perfect setting for an almost perfect family vacation experience
We, family of four with two kids (5, 2 yrs.) spend 16 days at The Reserve and we can overall recommend this place. Here are some details and the pros (and some few cons) regarding a stay in beautiful The Reserve at Palma Real: The Hotel: It was quite complicated to understand the whole set up of various places to stay in this Melia resort. The Reserve is an exclusive hotel a few minutes away from the main hotel and the beach. There is also the Grand Reserve (bit further out) and lots of other places. But from our own opinion (and of many other travellers) The Reserve was the best choice for a mix of luxury, quality, beach life and quiet pool time. Especially for families it's can be recommended. A mix of international guests from the US, Russia and various smaller groups from Europe. Overall relaxed atmosphere and not too loud and crazy. The whole area is a beautiful garden and well maintained. A little recommendation: Take the "behind the scenes" tour of the ressort, it's really interesting The Rooms The rooms are somewhat the weak point. As written in other reviews they are somewhat worn down. We had a One Master Bedroom Suits (very spacious) which we changed once right at the beginning (thanks to the flexibility of the management). The first room was simply not what we expect from such a property. Still, some issues kept coming up (dripping AC, broken shower installation, toilet problems, a complete shelf falling down) but management and staff took care of it, so it's ok. But investing in the the rooms is necessary so it lives up the the rest of the standard of the ressort (and its price). Service: Simply super team. Great service. Of course, sometime things take a little reminding but this is well counterbalanced by the dedication and smiles of the team. Room service, mini bar refill and cleaning work well. Some details are sometimes missed, but being a bit relaxed is also important for guests (;-)) And management is trying to find solutions for problems, so service is definitely a plus at The Reserve. Food and Drinks Loads of choice! The Reserve has various restaurants and bars and in combination with the Palma Real hotel facilities there is always something to look forward. There is buffet, great à là carte burgers, BBQs, special evenings, very good theme restaurants like the Brisas, an awesome Teppanyaki show etc.,etc. And again: very friendly and dedicated staff. A special thanks to Alexander (The Great! :-)) from The Reserve for his great service in the restaurants. The selection of drinks is impressive and high quality. Special advice: The Bloody Mary in the morning and try the bar in the main lobby of the Palma Real - fantastic drinks (e.g. a brilliant Whiskey Sour) Beach and pools An absolute highlight. The Palma Real beach (along with the sunbeds) is in my opinion the nicest part of the whole beach strip I saw while jogging up and down the area. Perfect sand, warm sea and again great service. Enough space, but still some hassle with people reserving sunbeds without using them. But that's the usual issue. The vendors are not disturbing too much and the area is kept clean. A special thank to Yesenia for running a fantastic beach bar. Pools are a great choice, too. At the main hotel there is a nice swim up bar. And a very relaxed and beautiful pool area at The Reserve. It's a calm alternative to the main beach. One thing that didn't really work is calling the small golf carts to come back from the beach. It's always a hit and miss thing - so better be prepared to walk 7-8 minutes instead of waiting endlessly. It's a nice walk and better for your health anyway. Kids and Entertainment Big thank you to the Kids Zone Team: Yasmin, Alejandro, Carmen, Alexandra, Katy, Derly, Gissel and Loanyi. Very dedicated and fun with a lot of effort for a fun christmas season. With the kids zone, the beach and the relaxed atmosphere it's the perfect place for families (including a baby sitting service that made it possible for us to enjoy New Years Eve). Also funtastic and not to be missed: the water park at the Grand Reserve that can also be used for Reserve guests. As we were focussing on relaxing we didn't go out too much for the entertainment. But there is enough around (pool parties for those interested and a very fun New Years Eve Party during our stay). For some of the events (e.g. Volleyball) it was better to self-organize something as no one showed up from the staff - there is room for improvement regarding organizing those events found in the app. But overall, no problem relaxing and having a great time in the ressort during you stay. Overall If you want to go for a great vacation on a sandy beach with an high value all inclusive package, The Reserve is a place to check out. Especially for families. Highlights are the beautiful ressort, a stunning beach, great food and drinks and a very dedicated team. What this luxury resort still lacks to receive a full 5-star review: investment into modern, fresh rooms and solving some service issues that haven't been a huge problem but have been proof that there is still potential for further development. Looking back at our time in Punta Cana, we definitely consider coming back one day. Thanks to the whole team of The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real .
Great Experience!!! We will be back!!
Our experience at the Reserve was great!! I would highly recommend the swim out suites as it is quiet and private. Our Butler Andy was great and the beach butlers Raul and Rauly were fantastic! This was our first trip to the Dominican and we will definitely be back!
Fantastic Resort - detailed experience review
This my family and I’s 3rd time staying at the resort. Each time, we enjoy it immensely. There have been some changes in the resort recently so I thought I’d write a detailed review again. As a disclaimer, we traveled in early March so some of the changes with dining options may be a result of the decreased number of guests. In terms of dining, we continued to find there to be a variety of delicious food options. Brisas, a beach front sushi restaurant was fantastic. Tokimeku, an asian fusion/sushi place, was also tasty. Some of the food was a bit salty, but the ice sashimi platter and spicy tuna were great. Sal (steak house) was delicious - pro tip, order more than 1 side as the portions are pretty small. Vento, a Mediterranean restaurant, was good but not our favorite. And lastly, the main resort buffet was really nice. There are plenty of options - usually an Indian station, Italian, grilled to order meat and fish, and then salad bar and fruit, plus a dessert bar. I found the food turning over quickly and staying fresh. We only ate at the Reserve buffet once, it was good but the options are much more limited than the main resort. I’d recommend the short walk/ride over to the main property for breakfast, lunch and dinners. A caveat, the restaurants were open on a schedule meaning Brisas was open only on the Sunday we were there, other restaurants on different days. Not sure if this was due to the low number of patrons or a new approach to dining at the resort. Make sure you get dinner reservations regardless - the restaurants fill up! The rooms were very clean, and well maintained. We enjoyed the master suite and found it to be spacious and comfortable. The Circle is the newest part of the resort, but the Reserve still holds up very well. Entertainment was better this year than the last 2 years. They moved some of the shoes into the courtyard area which made it more lively and comfortable. Lastly, I’d like to personally thank Christopher Murillo for creating a wonderful check-in process, and being very understanding when we needed to leave the resort early due to circumstances in response to the coronavirus. He, along with every staff member of the resort made us feel welcome and valued - in the midst of what I am assuming is a fair amount of job insecurity for them. The staff deserves to be commended. Overall, I’d recommend this resort to others and will likely be staying here again in the future.
