Reception is a disaster, rooms are fine
Once we got thru reception everything was fine- Reception was a disaster- rooms are to be ready at 4pm- we arrived at 4pm- told us our room wasn't ready- waited until 5pm- still not ready- finally at 5:30 got our room- only because I pestered the front desk- no proactive measures on their part. Room is comfortable although layout is stange- entry level just that an entry- down stairs to either kitchen or living room, upstairs to bedrooms. Back porch is very relaxing with only nature in sight.

Wyndham Shawnee Village Review
We stayed here the end off May. We were not at all impressed!!! The unit we were in was Ridge Top & it was so outdated it was sad! I would be embarrassed if I was Wyndham to let their owners stay there. I think it was built in the late 70’s & has not been updated since! We didn’t know until it was too late that they had a few renovated units or we would have requested one. We usually get a survey after a stay, but didn’t get one. I tried to figure out a way to review the stay, even emailed Wyndham about it, but did not get a response! Finally found a way to review here. We were extremely disappointed! As far as what to do. not much this time of year. Everything closes early. It’s a beautiful area, & there are some trails in the area if you want to hike. We took a day trip to Philadelphia & that was great! The resort has some nice amenities, but we really didn’t care much for the area! We weren’t pleased that the staff didn’t mentioned the renovated units. The one we were in had a live roach in the freezer, someone’s fingernail in the table crack, some of the kitchen cabinet doors stayed cracked open when you closed them. There was a set of pliers I the basket with the coffee & the water spit out when it ran like it hadn’t been used for a long time! The pollen on the screened in porch was so thick on the chairs we couldn’t sit in them & if you walked on it there were tracks in the kitchen floor from our shoes! Needless to say, we were not impressed!

Shawnee Fairway Villas
Spent a week in the Poconos at the Fairway Villas and had a wonderful time . The units have finally been updated and are absolutely beautiful . Very quiet area , parking right outside unit. Bedding , furniture wonderful . Huge bedrooms . Nice outdoor area for children . If you like golfing , hiking , boating this is a wonder resort . Casino is about 1/2 hr ride .

Nice Getaway
Fairway units are beautifully located and well appointed. Could use better parking, especially for loading and unloading. Small towns nearby to visit and nice drive to see waterfalls and hike. The NJ side of the rec area has poorly maintained roads and not worth going, but PA side is good. The resort activity center has lots to do. Worth a walk past the driving range to the brewery for outdoor entertainment.

Typical timeshare presentation stress
Visited for a week with my family just for a quiet getaway. First time staying here though I have stayed many places throughout the Poconos. Had some issues at check in but most staff were friendly and they were quickly resolved. The problems began when I was transferred over to the line to collect my wristband. Didn't realize that the wristbands were just a key, and while using them was convenient I would have skipped them had I realized that I didn't really need them. Other resorts I have visited the wristbands were your access card to the amenities on the property. That was not the case with this resort. They seemed to have simply served as access to your unit, which was not necessary seeing as they gave us key cards for that purpose. If I ever return I will certainly skip the wristband because while I loved the easy access to the unit the presentation was the low point of my visit. They take a $40 deposit and offer you a gift to go. The gentleman was long winded while getting the wristbands and telling me about the area and after a long day of travel I just wanted to get to my unit. Save the friendly chatter until after travelers are not so road weary. Finally I got my key and got lost searching for the unit on the sprawling property. GPS is useless for the most part because there are just too many areas up there where the signal drops out. Finally I found it, used my wristband to get in, and the unit was ok. Outdated, as many say. Found cobwebs in some areas and as always with a lot of properties these days the forgotten item beneath the bed (which I could see when sitting on the other double bed upstairs). Otherwise clean and kitchen well stocked with all I needed for a week of mostly eating out. Upstairs had two double beds and a bathroom with a large walk in closet. Downstairs had a queen bed in the master where the was also an en suite bathroom with a washer and dryer just outside the bathroom in an enclosed closet space. Place is in the woods so we dealt with a number of moths, a centipede and a spider. Wish a fly swatter or some bug spray was in the unit but we made it. Hot water was hit or miss. It got better after a few days. Had a numbered parking spot which twice someone was parked in when we got home, once a work van from the property and once who knows who left their car there. There is overflow parking a short walk away so this was just a case of people failing to care that the spot was assigned. Sadly, it happens. Checkout was simple. The day prior a text message reminder came and we only had to text back and leave our keys in the unit when we left. Easy peasy, no complaints. Now, back to the presentation. I hate getting roped into these things when clearly I am not thinking of buying. I would rather them get to the portion where they inevitably offer you cheaper vacation options. No matter what you say they are going to have to do it their way and I understand. So even though I just requested my $40 be returned they used the incentive to get you to come anyway. They tell you 90 minutes and not a minute more, and yet 2 hours later with the vacation option being offered at the last moment and the sales person unable to hide their disgust that you're actually not buying you finally get to force yourself out of the door. The incentives are nice, but not worth the hassle for the vacationer or the sales person. I always feel it's unfair to them to have them pitch to people who are not in the market but time shares have been around a long time and so I guess they are able to change a lot of minds. You may be gifted at the beginning of the presentation but they make it clear that you will give them every second of that 90 minutes. Part of that includes a tour of their newer properties, which basically shows how subpar the properties that you actually rented are. Also, you will need a car to get around the area, the properties and the main center are pretty spread out and there is no shuttle service. Finally, I was not a fan of the separate fee for mini golf. Most resorts I've stayed at after paying a transfer fee as an owner of another time share include minor things like mini golf, but they did let me know the second time I came that I could request a 50% off coupon to play which comes in handy when a large family is playing. There is also an indoor pool, game room, basketball court, etc downstairs from the check in area. All in all would stay again if I could specifically stay at a property that is newer and within walking distance of a restaurant or the gym.
