I'm currently staying here now and truly can not wait to leave. I felt I needed to write this, if only to serve as a warning to future travelers. Within 10 minutes of being at the hotel, we discovered hair all over the bathroom. We were readily given a different room by the front desk. The next day, while eating our lunch we saw a huge mouse run across the room. I tried calling the front desk to no avail. I had to go downstairs and find someone at the front desk to address. She did apologize for the inconvenience and offered a $40 credit but we are currently in our THIRD room in less than 24 hours. Besides the issues mentioned, the TV signal is very weak which makes many of the channels unavailable. The remote doesn't work well. The phone shortcuts don't work at all and you'd be hard pressed to get help on the phone from Concierge or the Front Desk. I even paid extra to get a nice room with a balcony but truly regret that because we're too scared to open the balcony door for fear that something may come in. The ONLY nice thing I can say about this hotel is that the bed was comfortable. But who can sleep well when there's a mouse running rampant? After 25+ trips to New Orleans, I consider myself well versed in most of the nicer hotels in the city. This is absolutely not one of them.
The hotel was clean and very centrally located. However there was no hot water. Management became sarcastic on 4th day of me asking for hot water. It was luke warm at best. I would never stay there again.
Great location and staff
Stayed a night a week before Christmas. Excellent Papa Noel rate including free parking with a king room and side street balcony. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were great. Everything was clean and covid precautions were followed. Outside the hotel, which is on Bourbon street, there was a total disregard for any precautions however.
Heart of bourbon st
Beautiful hotel right in the middle of everything .. they had 2 restaurants, desire which is nice and casual, and revolution which is upscale and fancy and we spent New Years there , coffee shop and gym attached. unfortunately due to covid the jazz bar is closed and weather didn’t let us see the pool. Very clean. We did make the mistake of thinking we “wanted “ the balcony room and upgraded .... didn’t get any sleep the first few nights due to the noise.. there’s no shutting out the sounds of bourbon street so unless u are among the 3am crowds don’t do the balcony ... construction, clean up and garbage starts around 6am... so not much peace good night sleeps . The bed was so comfy
Housekeeping service not available for our four day stay, but they told us that in advance. The rest of their staff did what they could to compensate. Jacob (bellman), valet parking staff, front desk, and Peter and Ruthie of the Desire Oyster Bar Restaurant - were all chipping in to compensate. We can see the this is a beautiful property with competent staff who are handicapped by corporate reactions to Covid. My wife's best day on week long trip was napping in the sun poolside the Sonesta.
