    Wonderful holiday again.

We have been to a lot of riu hotels over the years and this is one of our favourites. The staff are amazing from mini me in the pool bar to janet in the restaurant to Victor the manager, they are fantastic. The food in the main restaurant is really good and there's always something to choose from. The steak house is good but not special. The Krystal fusion restaurant is excellent and kuko was our favorite member of staff. We had a suite on the 7th floor with a Jacuzzi outside which was such a treat. Always try to get a Seaview if at all possible. The entertainment staff led by Bruno were very funny and entertaining. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment, which is needed as some areas were showing its age. We highly recommend this hotel.

    Wonderful Resort Experience

I loved my stay at the Riu Palace Pacifico. The staff is amazing, the food is great, and the big pool was awesome. The beach location is beautiful. The only things that need improvement are the beds, they are not very hard. Also, the specialty restaurant Kyoto needs a major review in service and food. Everything else was outstanding.

Wonderful Hotel This was the first time in Puerto Vallarta and at this resort. I loved it. We scheduled transportation when we booked it, and it was so easy to find pick-up. The resort was beautiful. We tried the Mexican, steak, and Japanese restaurants, which had great selections. The staff was welcoming and super friendly. The adult pool was nice. They had an all-white party night. It was fun. The only thing I would change is the music selection at the pool. The resort is in Mexico, and all the music is in English. It's like not having tequila. Overall this is a superb hotel.

Fun time was had by all!

First, I want to say we absolutely enjoyed our time at The PIU Palace Pacifico. Our group consisted of myself a 40-something and my parents in their 80s. I was a little hesitant to stay there because it was not in Nuevo Vallarta or Puerto Vallarta but am so glad, we did! The resort was large enough to feel like you could separate yourself from some of the rowdier adults while feeling small enough to have a cozy feel. We had an ocean-view junior suite on the 5th floor. This gave us a beautiful view of the pool and fountains as well as the ocean beyond. The room itself is dated. The décor was nothing to write home about. But since you only sleep there, it didn’t matter to me. Especially when you hear that it is getting a facelift in August and will reopen completely renovated in December 2023. The beds were fine with the toppers and the sofa bed was creaky and old but ultimately, I slept well on it with a topper. I do hope they plan on getting new ones in the reno. The décor of the hotel itself is currently not to my liking and appears to have been done in the 80s and is a bit dark but like I said facelift coming soon and I can’t wait to see what they do with it to brighten the place up. The shops are cute but small and open at weird hours. I usually go to peruse and then shop later but found they weren’t always open when they said they would be. But the staff inside the shops were super friendly. The pool is falling apart. There are tiles missing and large cracks, but it is warm and had plenty of space for you to move around without bumping into anyone. Drinks and food are plentiful. Tip culture is real here. So be prepared to tip everyone. Knowing that the staff will not get paid during the reno made me want to tip even more. I hope they all come back; we didn’t have a bad experience with anyone. Our room didn’t get cleaned the first day. But then we found a cleaning person in the hall and asked her in Spanish to clean our room while we were at breakfast and left a very nice tip. We ate at the buffets for breakfast and lunch, and they were fabulously tasty. We ate dinner at Krystal and La Toscana. Krystal was the better option as the food was spot on. The steaks in La Toscana are choice cuts and not as tasty as what I’m used to in the US. We didn’t make it to Guacamole which was a shame as it was closed the final night we were there. But we heard it was delicious. The shows are cheesy and fun. The house band was very good, and I like the fact that they did songs in English mostly and pop songs. The pianist was lovely as well. The Circus needs work and the Michael Jackson impersonator was fun. We didn’t go to the white party so can’t report back. The beach is beautiful! There are plenty of palm trees with shade and if you want to pay for an umbrella you can. The vendors were friendly and when you said “no pero gracias” or “no tengo dinero” they left you alone. There are other vendors other than gift vendors. Horseback riding, Parasailing, Jet Skiing, and Banana boating are also available for a price, but I preferred to make friends with the resort cat and iguana for free! We only stayed 5 days and since we didn’t do anything but hang out at the resort it was plenty of time. The resort is about 40 minutes from the city of Puerto Vallarta. And since we were visiting in August didn’t think it was worth it to go and be out in the heat. In August there are thunderstorms but mostly in the late afternoon and nighttime and they stop almost as quickly as they start. When you start to hear the thunder about 10 seconds apart. That means the storm is around 10 miles away so get ready to go inside. Overall this place is a paradise and I will definitely return. The only thing is it will not be a kid-friendly resort after the renovation in December 2023 so I may have to stay in the sister property if I bring my 15-year-old niece.
