Amazing stay at Riu Palace!!!!
Late review, we stayed in April 2018. We were originally supposed to stay at Riu vallarta, but it was overbooked and they upgraded us to Riu Palace Pacifico. Best overbooking experience I've ever had with any resort. The food, service and especially the staff were all amazing. The kids club was great too, my daughter lived there the whole week and enjoyed all the activities they had to offer. Would definitely come back!!!
Still the Best
Have been going to the Palace ever since they opened. We try to go twice a year and have stayed here about 14 times(give or take) Just returned from a week at the Palace, and even though the covid situation has affected travel world wide,we still managed to have a very enjoyable holiday. The Riu Covid protocols are very well thought out,and easily manageable, having to wear a mask in the indoor common areas only.Lounge chairs around the pool were well spaced, and all common areas were very well cleaned day and night. The food was excellent as always, but most impressive is the service at all parts of the resort.Having been there so many times,we get to know the staff and feel we are truly welcomed and appreciated. Love the resort,Love the people,Love the sunshine. Will be back soon.
First Time Vacationing at the RIU Palace Pacifico!!
I would like to first mention that I have stayed 7 different RIU hotels over the last 10 years. Mostly in Cabo, Mexico and the Caribbean.. This was my first stay at the Riu Palace Pacifico and first visit to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! My wife and I traveled with our daughter, her husband and 2 of our Grandkids!! As with most people we were very concerned about traveling due to COVID-19 Virus. After traveling from the New York and wearing our masks for about 8 hours we arrived at Palace Pacifico.. Some of our concerns were immediately went away .. All of the RIU employees were wearing masks, plexiglass at the front desk when checking in.. all elevators allowed only 4people at a time.. the rooms were spotless and housekeeping would only clean your room upon request.. Everyone had to wear masks at all times when leaving your room. Masks of course could be removed when eating, drinking or by the pool.( lounging or swimming).. When going to any of the restaurants to eat your temperature was taken upon entering and hand sanitizer had to be done before entering the restaurant..If you ate outside and went back for additional portion you had your temperature and used hand sanitizer, again!! Also, all tables were social distance apart.. All lounge chairs by the pool were setup in pairs at the start of the day, but as the day went on families move the chairs as needed..As we did for our family!! The chairs on the beach was setup the same way as the pool.. There was pool service for drinks around the pool..But you could get your drink if you liked. The pool area Bar also had plexglass when ordering and had to social distance when waiting your turn to order..Overall I thought the hotel did a very good job trying to keep everyone Safe!!! I also found that the majority of the people wore their masks and were very safety conscious..We found the hotel to be outstanding, the buffet food, breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good!! You always find something to eat.. Ever afternoon they had a bbq that was very good!! We only ate in 2 of the speciality restaurants.. The steak house and the Mexican...We enjoyed the food in both very much!!! We did not go any of the nightly shows, but heard they were enjoyable..We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed warm sunny days!! We will be returning to Puerto Vallarta and we’ll be staying at the Palace Pacifico, again!!! A shout out to Oscar Ibarra for helping to make our vacation memorable!!
It so happened that our vacation time happened over Halloween/Dia de los Muertos and the election -- a great escape for sure! I was a bit worried after reading reviews that the property was selling day passes to guests to be able to visit for the day -- and that it was leading to crowding. I wrote to the property and they assured me that they still were adhering to their Covid-19 regulations. Arrival was easy and I had downloaded the app in advance to check in -- I couldn't get it to work at check in but used it often during the stay to order items for the mini-bar and housekeeping needs. Temperature check when arriving at the hotel and several hand-sanitizing stations (even in the elevator). Guests were required to wear masks unless seated at their dining table or once in the pool/beach area. 95% of everyone pretty much adhered to this rule. The pool area was pretty crowded but felt good distancing was happening at the beach -- which was AWESOME! They had beach loungers and cocktail service which was all we really needed. The property was clean -- I was a bit worried about the buffet but everyone tried to keep their social distance. Masks and hand sanitizing was a must ... and definitely used. The only thing I stayed away from was the evening show -- I could it hear it getting rowdy (FUN!) but knew that was not going to be something we would enjoy this time around. Staff was awesome --- Thomas & Bruno (and the lovely lady at the towel spot!). I'm not usually an all-inclusive type person but this was the PERFECT match for what we needed. All the restaurants (sadly, except Guacamole) were awesome. Cocktails were delicious but I definitely had my favorites (Noe!). Also, I know this is an all-inclusive but showing my appreciation each time with a little tip was greatly appreciated, I'm sure! Had a wonderful time -- thank you to the wonderful staff for recognizing my husband and I's anniversary and for the lovely room -- what a view!
A safe and memorable experience
Some small initial hiccups that were resolved during the course of our ten day stay. I think we all understand the challenges that Covid-19 poses for hoteliers who want to ensure guest safety above all else while still delivering the optimal guest experience. Kudos to Alexander, one of the managers at Riu Palace Pacifico, who managed to walk the fine line between both. We will be back.
