Best Resort in Waikiki!
I have stayed at several resorts in Waikiki over the past 20 years but none of them compare to the Moana Surfrider! I have stayed at the Moana many times over the years and will not stay anywhere else in Waikiki. The people (employees) and relationships make a difference starting with Kyle Anger (Hotel Manager) along with Joseph, Frank, Jeff, Brian, Constance and many others at this property that make each stay delightful on business trips and vacations. Never a poor experience, and the history and beauty of the resort is tough to beat! My family spent 8 nights at the Moana in July 2021 for business and vacation, plus to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Kyle, appreciate you for the celebratory champagne and always checking in with us to ensure an enjoyable stay at your property. As a Marriott Ambassador Elite, I have stayed at many Marriotts over the years and the Moana Surfrider is easily our favorite Marriott property! Mahalo, and see you soon! Carl K & Family
Calm, elegance amid the bustle of HNL
Great weeklong stay and reunion with friends. The best offering at the hotel is Meditation with Jen. Yoga is also great, both weekdays and weekends, but the meditation class is truly special. Very distinctive offering and the positive experience will bring us back to the Moana again soon. Thanks also to Ricky at the Beachhouse restaurant for an incredible birthday dinner! We love staying at all the Marriott properties in Waikiki—they each have a unique feel and you can’t beat Moana Surfrider (Westin) and Royal Hawaiian for the beachfront location!
Fantastic Beach Front Property
We stayed from July 10-17 and words alone can’t describe the marvelous week we had at this historical property. Although the pool is too small for the hotel, the gorgeous lobby, comfortable rooms, superior service, and of course, the incredible beach front location makes the Moana Surfrider in a class of its own. The location is truly the best in Waikiki. I must say it’s hard to understand why there are reviewers complaining about the noise. It’s Waikiki and travelers are flocking here to compound the hustle and bustle. It’s a huge part of the excitement of being in Waikiki. If you want serene, quietness, try Kauai, Molokai or Lanai. Lastly, big kudos to Keith and Chris at the front desk. Their hospitality, pleasantries everyday made us feel so welcome. The big boss at parking, Larson, was always spot on with timeliness. Isaac at the pool exemplified the meaning of aloha spirit with his high level of service. Finally, Mike DeCenzo ensured everyone felt super safe at the Moana. He’s another exemplary employee at Moana. We can’t wait to come back!
Don’t believe the hype, this place is old and done.
One of the most disappointing over priced stays at a “resort” I have ever had. Fist fight in the lobby set the tone for our stay and failure just ensued. Asked valet to call for a cab, he directed me to the bellman who in turn said, “you’ll have to get your own cab I’m too busy”. Then called concierge to get us info on a rental car. Keep in mind that “rental car” Is listed under services provided by concierge. He said “that’s not my job”. I swear to God he said those words. I rebutted with…but it says on the website that you arrange for rental cars. He said “well the website is wrong”. No room service but they don’t tell you that on the website. I cannot recommend this motel at all. For what they provide the rates are too high. We have stayed at motel 6 as well as high end resorts. So we have plenty of experience as what to expect. Don’t trust the website. The workers are Pretty lazy as well. Wallpaper in the bathroom is rolling off the walls as well. Definitely needs updates.
Looks like a cute looking hotel with kind and welcoming staff and a seemingly perfect location. WRONG. Stayed in the Banyan wing facing the street and got barely any rest because street performers set up directly across the street each night and BLAST their crappy music. Your paying top dollar for this hotel and you can't even nap or sleep. Plus we were put in a room on the 2nd floor of the Banyan Wing where anyone could wander up the wood steps at any time and loudly hang out outside our space while viewing the hotels history. We were glad when our stay was over and went to the Hilton Garden Inn a few streets over. Much quieter. Also no microwave and the bathroom was super duper small
