I couldn’t have been more happier at the Moana Surfrider! Simply the best!

I had a few special requests that were so nicely handled by the General Manager, Kyle, who was such a stellar professional and seasoned General Manager to run and oversee a large resort, and the most famous resort in Waikiki. Everything was met and exceeded my expectations with perfection! I was thrilled to see most dining and bars open on-site and fully staffed at the resort. The staff was very accommodating and even had extra tables in the banyan tree area for the influx of holiday and eagerly awaiting vacationers to “break free” and finally have a get-away. I really enjoyed the wine bar on the weekends as you were able to order ala carte from the Veranda menu and have smaller portions. Additionally, a dedicated serving staff was in attendance on the Friday and Sunday at Vintage 1901. The banyan tree Bar crew was so efficient and friendly and did their best and I was happy to see social distancing in place at the bar and in the dining table area – most everyone respected it and the staff appreciated it. The pool side café was a favorite! They were open and so well stocked and priced well – the staff, there too, along with the other Food and Beverage teams really went above and beyond to help everyone. The guests during my stay were so friendly and talkative, kind, polite (even if some guests asked other guests to put on a mask, everyone obliged) – I believe many had not been away from their home towns/mainland since COVID19, therefore, everyone was so friendly and chatty on-site and around the city. The self-parking was worth it – It was just across the street at their sister hotel, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and easy to find/locate and a quick exit on the side street to avoid the busy traffic on the main boulevard. A big special Thank You to the amazing housekeeping staff! It was such a nice treat to have my room serviced DAILY during as most resorts are only offering every few days or only once week. The Moana Surfrider housekeeping team was “on top of it” and serviced every room daily, on time with a full cleaning procedure! Even my lanai was moped down regularly. All the common areas, elevators, lobby and carpeting were vacuumed daily. Finally, they were all so friendly and professional it was nice to see the crew every day. I will return to the Moana Surfrider again before the summer ends! I’m saving up for the Beach Club Lounge! My entire stay and time really brought me back with calm and sense of normalcy. Thank you to the entire Moana Surfrider team who made my visit so memorable and special.

No view from 'partial ocean view'

Partial ocean view was a view of the roof of the hotel next to us. I uploaded a picture. Was told all partial ocean views were the same. If that’s the case, think twice. View last time was spectacular, this is horrible. Very disappointed. Will not be back.

Great stay and a special shout out to Mr. Samson

We had a fantastic stay at the Moana - prime beach location, beautiful rooms (we loved the banyon suite with a Juliet balcony) and tasty food. The beach chairs are great for a relaxing day just make sure you grab them early. And if you need to stop by the front desk, ask for Samson. He was the MVP of our stay and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. Great customer service and very friendly person. Thank you Samson!

    Beautiful hotel

This is a beautiful hotel. We come here for lunch or dinner. Covid has changed many things. They have fewer tables here now. It would benefit the restaurant to hire a hostess to help with seating. People wonder around your table looking for seating asking you if you are done yet. Then they stand near you until you leave. The waitress was very kind. She apologized to us three times for not getting to us quick enough. She ran to serve guests the entire evening. The food was very good. When we left we bussed our table so that the couple waiting for our table would have a clean table. View is great, food is great, just hire more staff and what a great experience it would have been.

Magnificent hotel. Best location in Waikiki

This was our first time in Oahu and was very hesitant about the hotel. It was between this one and the Hilton village but based on the reviews we went with the Moana and I’m so happy we did. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Everything there speaks beauty and history. We upgraded our room to a partial ocean view in the tower with the bigger rooms. Our view was spectacular!!! The bed is one of the comfiest bed I have slept in my life. I can never sleep in hotels and I could sleep there every night no problems. We had a balcony so every morning we woke up to the sea. One of the reasons we didn’t stay at the Hilton is because I read about problems with stolen items, either at the beach or pool and having to wait long for elevators. We never had that problem at the Moana. Elevators were efficient and never had to wait for one. I need to say all the staff is amazing at the property. Front desk, housekeeping, concierge. I took a yoga class and the instructor was fabulous. Same as the ukulele class!!! There are so many plus on this hotel I can’t even mention all of them. Location is amazing, my husband rolled his eyes every time I spotted a new favorite store just across the street from the hotel: Macy’s, Lululemon, H&M, LV, Channel. All of the stores and restaurants (cheesecake factory is next door) are right there. You won’t need a car at all. There are literally 3 ABC stores on the same block and you can buy ANYTHING there! Anything!!! We joked next time we won’t bring luggage. I actually liked how the umbrellas are separated from the public beach as that gave us a sense of privacy and could leave our valuables there without being worried of something being stolen. Ukulele, lei, yoga classes are free. Just need to reserve in advance. Gym has 2 peloton bikes if you are into that. Yay! I really could keep writing and writing about how amazing the Moana is. Having breakfast at the Veranda, music every afternoon next door at Duke’s. Don’t wait, just book!!! We will be back as soon as possible. Every one of our drivers said we were staying at one or the best hotel in Waikiki.
