FAMILIES NOT GUARANTEED ADJOINING ROOMS - BEWARE
FAMILIES READ THIS REVIEW We stayed here over the peak Easter week. Overall, we had a good stay and barring the issues I’m about to detail with the rooms. I would’ve given the property three stars. We booked two rooms about three months prior to our trip. We travel as a family of five with our three young children all under the age of 10. We made a request to the resort for adjoining rooms well in advance, as well as to Costco, who was the booking agent. Upon check-in, we were notified that there were no adjoining rooms available, and they would not be able to accommodate us during our stay. When we tried to explain that this was imperative for our stay, we were basically ignored. The concept of customer service is clearly lost on this resort. Families book multiple rooms with young children so they can safely stay at the resort and have ample room. We basically had one of the two rooms sit completely empty for the week. About five days into our stay, they realize that we were unhappy after responding to questionnaires and try to rectify the situation, but it was too little too late. And by rectify, they offered to help us with restaurant reservations. No compensation was offered, and we were basically told that we should read the terms and conditions of staying at the property more closely next time. If you are traveling as a family be warned that they likely will deny your adjoining room request over peak weeks and then tell you to read the terms and conditions. Overall, I think the reviews for this property are greatly inflated. It’s in terrible need of a renovation and is generally just run down. Staff are extremely friendly and pleasant, but their English is extremely limited - as soon as you need something beyond “uno mas cerveza por favor” good luck. The other annoying thing is there is a massive shortage of chairs at the beach. Nothing says relaxing vacation like having to wake up at 6:30am to scramble down to throw towels on chairs. Food was solid overall, but there’s definitely not a lot of variation day-to-day.

Great value
Great getaway and stayed on site at the resort with no exploring. As a result we experienced one of the best bartenders we’ve ever met. Leandro and Minerva. Exceptional service and great people! The food was good with the beach side restaurant offering great soft tacos with pork.

Very satisfied again
Great stay again. Excellent job from our butler Samuel. Room clean and tidy by Lohanny. Oscar the magician was very entertaining at the main buffet. Good improvements at the beach and main buffet. If one thing, the plastic table setting could have been cleaned rather than just wiped. Looking forward to returning next year.

Save half your money and stay somewhere else with a lesser star rating.
Thought I would share share the "real" experience. If I were to summarize it: Average to below average food, lot's of variety, but nothing special. The beach is good, although, good luck getting a lawn chair if you're not up early. Essentially this place is really dated. Likely built in the late 90's and you can tell...basically patches here and there to cover up the fact that they haven’t actually updated anything. Also, while I was there, I woke up to jackhammers and drilling every morning and when I asked to move away from the construction, they put me closer. In my opinion you would be better off spending half the money on this place, somewhere else, as really, it's all about the beach and pool bar. The food, being average, can be found in a lot of other cheaper places. Also, they say you have a butler, but this is just for bragging rights...as the butler is just a customer service guy who responds once a day (at best) for requests like making a restaurant reservation, which he messed up...nice guy...but, not very competent. You'll notice that the staff (particularly) the females for some reason, give quite a bit of attitude. For example, I asked the female hostess at the steakhouse, “how long of a wait”?, very politely and they raised their voice and said, no idea. The young female staff at the front desk, barely speak english (to the point that I have to use my limited Spanish language) and the attitude if off the charts. The service is quite slow, but I expected this, you know, "Island Time", etc., etc.

Amazing vacation!
My husband and I just returned home yesterday after a wonderful week at Majestic Colonial, staying on the adults-only side — and it did not disappoint! 🏝️ Accommodations While I agree with many that the resort could use a bit of TLC (which I understand is planned for this fall), it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had imagined based on some comments. We were pleasantly surprised — it was clean, comfortable, and much better than expected. Cleanliness is our top priority, and in that regard, it absolutely delivered. Entertainment We caught all of the nightly shows and truly enjoyed them! The standouts for us were: • The Ideal Couple – so much fun and lots of laughs • The Circus Show – the acrobatics were amazing • The Michael Jackson Tribute – spot on impersonation! Food We were very happy with the food overall and had no complaints. • Ma+Suri was our absolute favorite — so much so that we went back a second night! • Rodeo Grill served up a delicious steak dinner. • Le Gourmet was available to us for breakfast (thanks to the Club level) and it was fantastic. • Although we had dinner reservations for Le Gourmet, we ended up cancelling to try Taino (Mexican) instead — and it did not disappoint either. • The rest of our meals were split between Supreme (the main buffet) and La Hispaniola (beachfront buffet) — both had plenty of variety and tasty options. Service Absolutely outstanding! Not a single complaint. The staff was friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. A special shout-out to our amazing butler, Javier Mendoza. He was a pleasure to deal with — always smiling, checking in daily via the app, and even stopping by the pool to chat with us (he also looked after the couple we traveled with, so he always knew where to find us). We had great conversations with him and will definitely be requesting him again when we return. Check-in / Check-out Check-in on the Club side took a little longer than I expected, but it was a busy time, so that’s completely understandable. That said, the waiting area was air-conditioned with comfortable seating, plus there were cold drinks and snacks available — so the wait really wasn’t bad at all. Check-out, on the other hand, was an absolute breeze — done and dusted in minutes! A Note on Transportation The only thing we’ll change next time is arranging a private transfer with Go Majestic. The shared bus ride to the resort felt long due to heavy traffic and being the fourth stop. In hindsight, we could’ve used Go Majestic for only $40 USD ($20 per couple) and saved time. The return trip to the airport was better — we were picked up first, stopped at Elegance and Mirage, and then headed straight to the airport. Traffic was light (likely due to it being Good Friday). Final Thoughts Long story short — we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Majestic Colonial and are already looking forward to going back… this time for 10 days, because 7 just wasn’t long enough! 💕🌞
