    Staff go above and beyond in gorgeous surroundings

    I'm sorry it took me so long to post this review - but I've been singing the praises of the Iberostar Grand Bavaro since my trip. The facilities were wonderful - I ate at all the restaurants and explored pretty much every inch of the grounds. So much more peaceful than the family-oriented Iberostar on the adjacent grounds. I didn't golf so I can't comment on that - I mostly hung out at the pool and on the beach, with my day being centered around the 4pm bingo at the swim-up pool bar...rough life :) I traveled alone and fellow travelers were really fun - I was never at a loss for company when I wanted it, and had plenty of free time alone (which was my primary goal). The staff are the real highlight here: butlers Daniel, Alby, and Luis; bartenders Maryelix and Tobias; beach staff Robert, Jose, Luis, Kerlin, Vincente and Henry; entertainment staff Ariela (fantastic!), Yocari-B, and Hot Chocolate, and other staff including Nelson, Hector in room service, Exelente, Wilnet (bellhop), all the waitstaff especially the French restaurant, and all the cleaners in the rooms, pool area, and public bathrooms. I don't usually go back to places I've already been, but I will absolutely visit here again. Gracias!

    True luxury resort!

    The Good: Gorgeous well maintained grounds. Excellent facilities. Fantastic drinks! The Butler experience and the Balinese beds were amazing. The Star Prestige level was worth it for the beach beds alone! The Bad: NO LOBSTER!!!! Some of the staff were unaccommodating (rude). The Star Prestige Room overlooked the neighboring hotels maintenance sheds.

    Music

    We always enjoyed the music that is piped in, it's like electric saxophone? or something. Not talking about the live music which is always good also. Does anyone have a name or a type of music they typically played during the day in the lobby? Does management? Thanks. We didn't make it this fall, hopefully Next year!! Relaxing time there.

    Good hotel with a couple bumps

    The resort is very nice, pretty well kept and great staff. In particular we really enjoyed the outdoor grill lunch, the gentleman (Micheal?) on the grill was fantastic! He would know what we'd like and always helpful, he's the best! Our butler Alberto was great too, along with all the housekeeping staff and the bartenders were great. To note, they have rose sparking wine, which was surprising and great. The food was good, better than most all-inclusives, the seafood buffet is a must. The pools are nice and a range of activities, they'll ask if you'd like to join but not pushy. Service for beverages can be spotty but the bar is always option, I'd recommend viewing the menu and trying something new or a new liquor. If you bring a inflatable innertube or raft they have an air inflator at the towel desk, a nice touch! Most days we'd come back to towel art or other room decoration from housekeeping. The room was spotless and very well taken care of. We'd request juice for the mini frig and always stocked. What drove us nuts was the 'towel game', it was insane. Every morning one of us would be up by 6:45, as anything before 7a was fair game to be removed, sometime staff would do that other times we'd be down there and chairs/cabanas were already take before 7a! It was super frustrating and actually took from the experience, as you're on vacation and want to sleep in, but if you want a good spot at the pool, then you have to get up early. Other things that are concerning, the amount of dead bees in the stairwells. I can understand pest control, but whatever is going on is killing bees, which are critical to our food supply. Please find another method. Upside is the commitment to not using plastic straws and bottles. Bravo and thank you! Please keep this practice and expand it. Seeing other resorts trash when walking the beach was an eye opener to some hotels poor practice and maintenance. We didn't see a large benefit to anyone upgrading the the star prestige. All and all, I'd recommend staying here.

    Beautiful Resort but the People make it!

    This getaway was during the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak. All of these workers were facing a Pending downturn in their Industry. This Resort is very luxurious and has the variety of Restaurants and Buffets to please most. The Open Air Buffet and Grill is exceptional; just as everyone can attest. BUT where this Resort out does itself is with the Service. The Staff truly wants to make you Comfortable and they are truly dedicated to make that happen. They are Pleasant and Kind and can't do enough to please you. Edward, our Concierge, was very attentive and took great care of us. All of the Ladies in the Spa are fantastic-- Estrella, Mimosa and Angela gave fantastic massages. Special Kudos to the activity Team who were challenged to keep things going during the fear surrounding the threat of a Pandemic looming. Perlo Negra, Armando and Chris Brown were great at keeping the FUN going. They kept the people on their feet. Whether on the dance floor or on the beach or pool They were a Bright Light under the Black Cloud over this getaway.
