Great experience for family with teens!
I just got back from HRRM. Great experience. The most pleasantly surprising thing was the food. The buffet was great and all of the restaurants were top-notch. Just beware of the wait times. Maybe I just got lucky, but my room was also great. My teenage kids loved having Vibe City and the water slides as an option too. Besides the long wait time at the restaurants, the only complaint is the chair situation. That is most all-inclusives though. And if you ask the staff, they can usually find you a chair. Overall, I would definitely recommend it!

Super Service!
This is our second stay at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya and I can’t say enough good things! This resort had everything we needed for our family of 4 (kids 3 and 6). Just like last time, the service at all restaurants (both a la carte and buffet) was always excellent. Bartenders and poolside drink service were great. Indeed, there’s not a person we encountered on staff who wasn’t lovely and welcoming. We ate really well all week. Breakfast at the revamped Market never disappoints (shout out to the woman expertly working that omelette station). La Isla is a wonderful new lunch option we really enjoyed. We ate dinner at Ciao (twice), Le Petite Cochon, Toro and Zen. All were delicious and accommodating to our small kiddos and their picky palettes. It seemed like they’ve renovated the rooms in the Rojo side as well as I found our room to be a bit nicer this time around. We did a sky suite again and used the terrace a lot more. My only suggestion is to get more furniture up there! A big round lounger or a table would make the space even more useable. But really, had everything we needed, fridge/water restocked daily, all good. Finally, my son loved the new bounce park and both enjoyed the indoor playground space. It was great to have a place the kids could run around out of the sun. Oh and the waterpark remains an awesome amenity to have included and on property. The only thing this place is missing is mini golf (hint hint nudge nudge if management reads this!). Truly, a wonderful home away from home. We’ll be back again next year!

Loved the Resort, But Staff Attitude and Phone Support Need Urgent Improvement
recently stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya and was genuinely impressed by the property’s outstanding facilities. The resort is beautifully maintained, offering everything you could ask for—from spacious rooms to incredible entertainment areas. One of the absolute highlights was the live shows—top-quality performances every night that truly made our stay memorable. The restaurants also deserve a special mention. The service was exceptional, the staff attentive and friendly, and the food was consistently delicious with a wide variety of options for all tastes. Unfortunately, not all aspects of the experience met the same high standard. The service at the pool area was disappointing—waitstaff were slow, inattentive, and often gave the impression they didn’t want to be there. Even worse was the attitude of the valet parking staff at reception—extremely rude, with zero sense of customer service. Another major downside was the customer service via their 800 number. I was hung up on twice when trying to resolve a simple issue. It has now been over 96 hours since I checked out, and I still haven’t received the refund of my deposit to my credit card. Instead of helping, the call center staff were rude and unprofessional. For a brand that promises a world-class experience, these service gaps—especially in such basic customer interactions—are unacceptable. I hope the management takes serious action to improve these areas, because the rest of the resort truly has so much potential.

Better options elsewhere
It looks lush and grande but it's average. We were disappointed. Room was clean and comfortable. The food is okay. The market serves buffet all day long and very casual attire. No dress code needed. The restaurants are nice casual but the servings are very small and the wait is 1 1/2hr unless you arrive between 5:30 and 6:30. They don't take any reservations. It's a bit outrageous you have to wait so long. There needs to be a better system. You wait all this time to have a mediocre dinner. It's just not worth it. Definitely do not come here for the beach. It's a small cove. And the sand area for beach chairs are on top of each other like sardines. I was truly disappointed. If you want a chair on the beach or pool be ready to get up at 6 AM to put your towel down to safe the chair. They try to desperately sell you a timeshare. They try to have you attend a breakfast. They ask you on day one as soon as you arrive and then call your room a few times (3) to attend. Overall would definitely not come back and I've heard other Hard Rock locations are better but after this visit have no desire to try another.

Just not for us…
Here’s an honest review: We had a good time. This was our second time at a Hard Rock property. The first was two years ago in Punta Cana. We spent a week at both, and can say that Hard Rock is not exactly the same across the board. Firstly, decide in your mind if listening to a presentation about a “travel club” is on your to do list, 90 mins or almost 8 hours makes no difference to their clock but can takes a chunk of time away from yours. That’s at either resort but with Punta Cana you get a riding tour of the resort. No means no Riviera Maya! Why go? The free gifts they offer for listening. Will I go again… ever again in life? NO!!! It didn’t make sense for us but it obviously works for others. Secondly, Punta Cana is not the youngest but as a much larger property with more amenities and activities, it presents as newer. Riviera Maya has an adults’ only side which is great. Restaurants and pool make you feel like you’re at a different resort. Thirdly, the resort staff at Riviera Maya were really amazing. Special mentions: Enrique - concierge, made sure we knew what was happening daily (once we met him) through What’s app. William - pool concierge, William, was tremendous! He made sure we had everything we needed, from a fixed umbrella to a complimentary poolside couple’s massage. I can’t recall the young lady’s name from Vacation Planners, who I talked to about our transfer back to the airport. She was so funny and we talked about our common braces story. She was very helpful and gave great advice for a smooth check out. Finally, as nice as the staff is at Riviera Maya and having the adults only side is a plus, we won’t return. The resort needs to be remodeled, in the rooms and outside. The room smelled like mold; there’s no exhaust fan in the bathroom or fan in room, so things never dried in the room. The bed is tremendously hard. The room was not very clean. The room service food was mediocre. We like activities and they don’t offer much. There’s either an additional cost or something offered once a week. There are nightly shows but nothing else during the day. We spent a lot of money to do excursions because it wasn’t much else to do besides eat the resort. It appears to be a great spot for those escaping the cold. However, if you like to have a little more activity, consider Punta Cana or a cruise.
