Excellent, caring & Attentive Staff
As a business owner who values the character of those I hire above all else, I want to commend the management of this Hampton Inn for choosing conscientious, people-focused professionals who made my short visit to their property yesterday such a joy. I particularly want to commend Guest Services Manager, Tracy Mulligan for her attentiveness and leadership, and providing an overall excellent customer service experience. Thanks Tracy for your hospitality!
Do not book for this inn!!!
Do not go here!!! Service is horrible and customer service is extremely disrespectful. My family and I had the most horrible racist interaction with the receptionist “Tracey” (tall, white, short blonde hair, middle aged looking). Booked a hotel room for my boyfriend and my Mother-In-Law for two nights. When my boyfriend, who is clearly Hispanic, came in and tried to check into the hotel room, the receptionist looked him up and down and said “Martinez???” with a sour face and tone. She told him that he couldn’t be there because he wasn’t 21 and that it “wasn’t her problem” . (Originally, this hotel room was booked under my boyfriends name because her credit card was maxed so she told him to do it but because he isn’t 21 yet my Mother-In-Law said to just put it under her name anyways.) So we said okay whatever just change it to MIL’s name because she said so and was staying with us anyways. Receptionist Tracey then refuses to let us check into our room at all regardless of changing the name over to my Mother-In-Law’s and her reasoning for it was because “she’s not stupid,” that “she knows what we’re trying to do,” and she claimed that we were going to trash the hotel room if my boyfriend, Mother-In-Law, and I were to check into the hotel room. Tracey also refused to get her supervisor when asked to do so, and asked us if we were going to a wedding and if not what were we even doing there, as if it was any of her business why we were booking out the hotel room in the first place. My boyfriend and I are both 20 years old. This trip was meant to be a fun get-away after a long very stressful month and this woman racially profiling us, assuming we were going to trash the hotel, and refusing service to us based on these assumptions really ruined our entire trip. I am disgusted with the Hampton inn and wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.
Putting to do not disturb sign means nothing
David working the front desk was terrible when we told him about housekeeping banging on our door when the do not disturb sign was out. He told us it was probably kids because they had a lot of kids staying there. Even after we told him his staff was seen by us outside of the door. We are diamond members and this was the worst stay we have had at a property. Don’t even think about grabbing a cup of coffee in the morning because you won’t find a cup to put it in. We ended up having to buy bottled water from David. I would think with the money your saving by not having the continental breakfast you could at least give your guest a bottle of water.
We have passed this hotel on our way to the beach so many times, and we finally decided to stay for two nights. It was a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They are taking safety seriously with signs around the hotel to wear masks and social distance. There is no hot breakfast right now, but that is because they're keeping safety in mind. I appreciate the snacks in the morning that they set out. The room design is nicely updated and modern! It was also very clean. We used the pool twice, which had a nice mix of seating options and privacy from plants. The location is fabulous with a 2-minute drive onto New Smyrna Beach. Just try to get your car on the beach before 9am; that's the time we noticed the Flagler Ave beach access gate would close because of full capacity. Lots of restaurants nearby to walk to. We travel a lot and are picky about hotels. I would absolutely stay here again. In fact, I look forward to it.
Ok but not great
Hampton Inns don’t serve breakfast or clean rooms during your visit. You can request towels and for breakfast they give you a paper sack with a bottle of water and something like a granola bar. Coffee is available. Parking is $12 per night. The experience is nowhere near as good as it was pre- Covid. I get the feeling Hampton is taking advantage of the situation by decreasing services while maintaining the same rates. It’s depressing to remember what a pleasant stay Hampton’s used to be.
