You get what you pay for... kinda
I’ve stayed in almost all of the Hilton’s in Chicago over the last 6 months. I decided to give this one a try esp since price was only a couple dollars off from the other Hilton hotels I’d had a great experience at. As a night shift RN at Northwestern, I figured nothing could be better than being a few steps away from work so I could get lots of sleep. Overall- hotel could be worse but could use a lot of improvement. I slept a couple hours which was nice until I was woken up by a loud knocking on my door around 11:10am. “Do Not Disturb” sign out and all... I thought I overslept and yelled that I would leave soon. Male voice on other side clearly didn’t hear me but clearly stated “if you aren’t out by 12:00 you will be charged a late fee!” ——— such a gross and annoying way to be woken up after working 13 hours. I obviously had an alarm set to leave by check out time. It was just so tacky and set my day off on the wrong foot. Really too bad.
We visited this hotel just as the city of Chicago was being shut down due to COVID-19. So we didn't have any issues with the elevators as there weren't many people staying at the property. The room we had was huge and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was clean and we had a great view of the city from our room that was located on a high floor. Breakfast was plentiful and replenished regularly. The location was great. We walked to the Bean within 20 minutes so centrally located and easy to walk to most sights. Lots of shops and restaurants in the immediate area including the Starbucks Roastery across the road. They only offer valet parking that was very expensive so we booked a spot through Spot Hero and parked a couple of blocks away. Definitely worth the savings. We would stay here again.
4 day chicago trip/great location
Perfect location for walking most places downtown.; occasionally needed an uber. Good, free breakfast in a very spacious area upstairs. We also used this area at night; microwaves to heat up leftovers. Many restaurants within walking distance. Only complaints are thin walls & had really loud neighbors. Also the elevators do take awhile during peak hours. We tried taking the stairs once & ended up in a medical office. They also hold your luggage after checkout if you need them to. Super helpful employee employee: Julio Vargas. I forgot some headphones in the room. After a stressful 2 weeks going back/forth with shipping companies, i spoke to julio and he ensured that my items were shipped to me.
Perfect for Outpatient Visit to Northwestern
We like to avoid the stops and starts of a drive thru Chicago expressways during the day to get to Northwestern hospital which makes arrival time unpredictable. We stay at the Hampton across the street which offers a significant discount for those going to Northwestern. Plus Northwestern offers a significant discount for parking so no need to pay what the hotel charges.
Good staying downtown
My stay at Hampton inn magnificent Mile was pleasant and I enjoyed your complimentary breakfast internet connection was stable and I was able to do most of my work properly. Incoming stay here again thank you
