    We Didn’t Feel Comfortable

Yes, we know we’re traveling in the middle of Covid. However, we have stayed at other hotels here in Cancun where it is required to wear a mask in the lobby & common areas. This hotel ONLY the staff are required to wear masks; so EVERYONE else is walking around the hotel lobby, packed in the hotel lobby chillin, and crowding in the hotel elevators NOT wearing masks! Like unbelievable and reckless! Clearly these guests don’t think the virus is real. However, for those of that do, this is truly frightening! Last night 6 people packed into one elevator not one person wearing a mask! Who knows what these people could have! The restaurants are NOT taking temperature before you enter. We choose to sit outside as we are not comfortable enclosed based on what we’ve seen on the news regarding this virus. There are ONLY two bars and the one by the pool only had one person working and about 10 people in line waiting for a drink. I asked a waitress for a drink and she never bought it as she said the bar was busy... I waited 20 minutes. They are understaffed. Also, NO DON JULIO, just cheap Jose Quevo. We love Don Julio or Patton! They carry neither! Our rooms have dirt marks on the walls, scuffs on the doors, wood missing on the panel, the frig doesn’t get cold & has a sad selection of drinks. This is suppose to be a preferred room; don’t waste your money. Rooms here should be between $85-$120USD/night MAX! The shower is tiny, so I can’t imagine a large man trying to use this shower. The water pressure is low. The toilet is on top of the shower. The bathroom is tiny with NO tub. The water is not clear!! And this is a “preferred club” room! Yikes! The AC isn’t very strong, the room could be colder. The bed is comfortable. The view is nice. On to the beach there was a female “hotel guest” blasting music from her stereo on & dancing vulgarian the middle of the day. Some men decided to film this. I found her vulgar dancing in a string bikini to be inappropriate and security should have asked her to turn down the music, not everyone wants to hear or see that! Dinner was somewhat slow, not enough waiters, but the food was good. Also, know there are kids and crying babies at dinner so if that’s not your thing pick an adults only hotel. The staff is nice, however, we would NOT return because we don’t feel safe here during Covid with all the hotel guests walking around without masks traveling from the USA and other areas with large numbers of Covid. Safety first during times like this!

    Above and Beyond all Expectations!

Our review of our stay at the Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa has been delayed due to the unfortunate circumstances of this Covid 19 pandemic. We were at the resort in early March before it had really entered Mexico but the staff here were already on top of the situation with masks being worn by kitchen staff and hand sanitizer provided at each entrance and exit of every restaurant. Bravo! This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this lovely resort. My partner and I travel often to the Caribbean and had stayed here previously when it was under the Oasis chain hotels. What a difference! The upgrades are very notable. We have always enjoyed the convenience of the wonderful white sand at your door step, the warm calm turquoise water beach and the scenic ocean views. The entire staff at the Dreams Sands were excellent however I must mention the exceptional VIP care which we received from Ms Brianda Fernandez. She was always there with a smile and went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful and memorable vacation. She rates 5+ stars. We found all of the restaurants to have quality, tasty offerings. Our favourite for breakfast was at the Olio with views of the water. The latte and the gelado at the Coco Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour is how we started and finished our days. The Portofino and the Gaucho Grill were amongst our favorite for dinner. Our deluxe Ocean front suite was well kept by the cleaning staff and had a million-dollar view. Lots of room to kick back after a long day at the beach. This hotel is walking distance to shops, Plaza Corol and a short bus ride to the open air Plaza La Isla Cancun shopping centre. Thank you to everyone at the Dreams Sands, we will be back for more of their Mexican hospitality.

    Honest Review

I am currently on my trip and usually wait till I am done to write a review. But I wanted to get this info out before people decided to go. Keep in mind this is my 4th all inclusive and 1st bad review. First of all dont even read there website. It is completely false I formation. The Bad 1. Only a few restaurants are open. 2. No activities are open. Kayaks, hobby cats, volleyball net, trampoline are all out. No reason why, cant be corona because kayaks you do by yourself. 3. Waiting staff are just pure overwhelmed because the hotel will not hire enough staff. Waiting times to eat are ridiculously high, lines at the bar are ridiculously long. Waiters take orders and I guess just get to busy doing other things and just flat out forget you. 4. AC didnt work the 1st night so we had to sweat all night, that did get fixed. 5. Water in showers and sink has a nasty yellow tint. I have a pic I will try to upload. It seems to have gotten a little better. But you can still see the tint. 6. Bar drinks have absolutely no alcohol hardly in them unless you leave a large tip that is. Otherwise you are drinking nothing. 7. The worst - strongly push there timeshare presentation and hunt you down constantly. 8. So far 3 kids that we know of have gotten bad cuts in the pool to there feet due to the bad tile in the pool including my boy. Good 1. View is nice 2. A decent beach compared to some other resorts. 3. Food is good if you ever get it. 4. Rooms are clean Bottom line, if you have kids and are looking for activities dont come here. If you are good with being extremely patient and just relaxing on the beach you may be alright.

We had a holiday last june and had an amazing time. Staff were absolutely fantastic especially Freddie , Richie , Manilow and Maria at the beach bar . Entertainment staff were awesome and we booked to come back again in October this year if we can but unsure if it will happen because of coronavirus. Anyway just wanted to say it's a beautiful place and can't wait to go back.

    Amazing people!

It was in February, which feels like another lifetime (pre-quarantine time) so it's foggy, but my daughters were reminiscing tonight about the trip and it reminded me for the millionth time to finally write a review! I will just say that it was a GREAT resort - full of life and energy and excellent food and just the best people. I cannot say enough good things about the Explorers Club for kids. My girls LOVED it (ages 6 & 8) - we could barely get them to eat dinner with us once they learned they could do it with their beloved leaders and friends there!! THANK YOU to all of the entertainment team and all the staff (including the yoga instructor) who made it all so wonderful. Just a beautiful spot in the world, and a very well-run one at that!
