Disappointed in customer service
My review is not based on my stay at the resort, it is rather based on the lack of customer service and unprofessionalism in handling the corona virus pandemic. We stayed at Dreams Riviera for a wedding, but unfortunately had to cancel our trip a day short due to the pandemic. We gave them 72 hr cancellation notice, which is what Dreams requested in order to receive a refund. Upon returning home, it took over a month to find out that they will not refund us but will consider a credit that will need to be booked by May 15, 2020. We have zero plans to rebook considering we are still in the pandemic. I am disappointed that they did not give us a refund since Covid and travel bans were not in our control even though we qualified for a refund under their policies. I will highly consider other resorts who show more sympathy and customer service when it comes to WORLD PANDEMICS.
We visited in Feb for a family wedding. We had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Adela at the concierge desk and Diana at the front desk helped make our experience more pleasurable. We enjoyed many of the activities that were listed on the Sundial page we received each evening for the next day. The food was excellent! I highly recommend the French restaurant. I would have been okay if I never spoke with someone at the VIP desk. I found it to be a waste of my time and Martha was very pushy. My husband and I both enjoyed the aqua therapy and I loved my massage.
Overall very good, but had some issues
Two of the families in our group had some major repair issues in their rooms. Water leaks from the ceiling! They were pretty disgruntled about it, understandably so. The staff tried very hard to find a resolution, make everyone happy, but it was a tough situation… My room, on the other hand, was great. I love the circular layout. I also love the overall aesthetic here. The jungle theme is very cozy! The lobby is gorgeous. The staff at Dreams Riviera are wonderful. One thing I did NOT care so is all the never ending weddings!! This place is a beautiful venue, but man, it’s too much when you’re there for a week, and there’s close to 2 weddings a day on average. Crazy! The Entertainment Team here were ok. All very nice, but you almost wouldn’t know they were there unless you keep an eye open for them, or are actively searching for activities yourself. I became hooked on the SOYA Latte @ Coco Cafe, and Fernando was the sweetest most helpful guy there. The buffet was pretty solid, nothing amazing. I was MOST impressed with the overall quality of food in the restaurants. I think I tried them all! Lydia, the manager at the Seaside Grill, made a very extra effort to ensure my Mom got something she could eat (due to food allergies). The steaks there were pretty good as well. But my FAVE was Bordeaux, the French restaurant. They had a chef (Norma) who was absolutely wonderful. And our waiter (Daniel) became a real friend to us!! We went to the French restaurant 3 times… We became such fans, that when we stayed at Now Jade a few months later, we did the Sip ’n Savor visit to Dreams Rivera, just to have dinner at Bordeaux! To my surprise, Chef Norma had moved to the new Now Natura! I of course was a little disappointed to hear that at first… but boy, the new chef, Javier, who just transferred from Now Sapphire, did NOT disappoint. It *may* have even been better than the first trip! And Daniel made our night so special, one to remember. I know some complain about the slow service at the French restaurant… but what else do you have to be doing?? You’re on vacation! Just relax, take your time, and enjoy a meal like the French do. It’s probably my favorite thing to do.
Dreaming in Riviera Cancun
Booked our trip thru Costco travel. Great experience with their package. We have a great non-stop flight to Cancun from Dulles on United. We arrived early at Dreams and they were great at finding us a room that was available. From the monment you check in, they took care of everything else. Our room was first class with all the food and drinks you could want. The complmentary mini bar was a plus. We spent most of our time on the beach. The beach did have some seaweed, but staff was always cleaning it up to provide a beautiful beach. We had breakfast at the World Cafe and many options were available during the day. There was always show cooking at the pool area and a variety of items was available at Barefoot Grill. These included tacos, pizza, fish, and nachos to name a few. We also ate at the Seaside Grill, Himitsu, Oceana and the World Cafe which is more of a buffet which everyone always found food they liked. We did not make it to all the restaurants. Nightly entertainment was always a plus.We watched movies outside at night which included popcorn and drinks. Daniel Jenkins was great playing tribute to Elvis. Another gem was the Neon human show which reminds me of the acts you see on America's got Talent. Karaoke at night was always fun with many people who have talent. The main lobby always had singers to listen to at night. A real treat was Mexican heritage night freaturing singers and dancers who were terrific. If you wanted a snack and a coffee, the Coco Café seemed to always be opened. All the staff was unbelievable nice and helpful. We would like to thank the following people. Nicolas from security on the beach, Freddy,Jorge,Raul and Alexandro from the Ocean Grill. Gabriela from the World Cafe, Isareal from the beach who always made sure you had everything you needed, Denise from the Rendezvous Bar and Manuel from the front lobby. Special thanks to Rosa who made sure our room was neat and clean everyday. We would highly recommend Dreams and look forward to returning.
Week of happiness !!!!
From the very moment you walk in you are treated like a VIP ! everyone was so very helpful, dreams was just a perfect getaway. Its not a huge resort-which was perfect for us,but they got alot of resturants and entertainment.Food was terrific. we will be back. they need just a few more people serving drinks poolside and beach.
