Hilton did it better
Not as good as when Hilton owned it. We booked as Hilton Diamond and arrived to a Hyatt-owned experience where we waited over an hour to get our rooms. Service isn’t as good anymore.

Fabulous resort, shame about the food
We stayed at Secrets La Romana for 2 weeks in June 2025. It is a beautiful, well maintained resort with large pools. We preferred the family pool to the adult one as it had cushioned sunbeds with more space between them and a large hot tub. Each pool has a swim up bar and also waiter service for drinks. We always found sunbeds with umbrellas each morning. The beach has soft white sand and calm clear water which is great for snorkelling. You can also see fish and occasionally a manatee (early morning) from the pier. We enjoyed the daily exercise in the pool, especially with Pablo Picasso, and Zumba in the sea! The water park is great, with slides and a lazy river. Our room was on the top floor of block 3. It had 2 extremely comfortable queen size beds with a selection of pillows and a high ceiling which made it feel more spacious and cooler. The air conditioning worked well and there was no damp despite the summer humidity. Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion were supplied. The room was cleaned well, towels replaced daily and sheets changed weekly. Please note there are no lifts so if stairs are an issue I would go for a lower floor. The only problems I found with the room were not enough plug sockets and no dressing table to sit at to get ready. There was a very slow hairdryer in the bathroom so I was glad to have taken my own. I had seen on various Facebook groups before we went that some people had problems with the food. I thought we would be ok as we are not particularly fussy. Unfortunately we really struggled and were ready to go home for a good meal by the end of our holiday. I love fish and seafood and was looking forward to trying it at the hotel. But everything was overcooked and dry. The best meals we had were the steaks in the French and Coastal grill restaurants. We booked the sushi bar at Sakura which was ok, but after eating from the main menu we were all very sick the next day. I would also recommend being careful with burgers from the beach grill as my daughter’s was completely raw in the middle. Paella from the beach was so unbelievably salty we all had to put it in the bin. There are problems with birds in both buffet restaurants. The food in the adult side is behind glass doors, but they still land on plates, tables and chairs. The coffee shop on the family side had great drinks but the cakes, pastries and fruit were surrounded by tiny flies. I didn’t notice these in the adult coffee shop. If the food improved we would definitely return as everything else was fabulous.

Butler Service Add-On Worth The Upgrade
Our family enjoyed spring break this year at Hilton La Romana. We had a fun and relaxing time, and a big part of that was adding the butler service add-on. From the moment we arrived, our butler, Febles, made our vacation truly worry-free. One of the best perks was never having to leave the pool or beach for drinks! Febles, provided our family's preferred beverages exactly where we were throughout the day. Whether we were lounging by the pool, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a quieter moment, our drinks were always just a text away. This small detail made a massive difference in our relaxation and fun. Beyond the drinks, Febles handled every request with a genuine smile. From dinner and cabana reservations to ensuring our cooler was always stocked. If you're considering an elevated experience at Hilton La Romana, we highly recommend adding the butler service.

Great service at the restaurants
Santa and Onelis had the best service! They were the highlight of our trip! Reception could use help, we were with preferred status and were left waiting in the lounge with no one to check us in, when we inquired we were told they thought we were already stayovers.
