DoubleTree niSacramento never disappoints!
The architecture may be a bit dated, but this is a quality hotel and the facility boasts all of the modern conveniences and amenities you could want or need. The location is convenient, the rooms are clean and well-appointed. I especially appreciate the Digital Key feature. The bar and restaurant offer a good variety of menu choices an the prices are very reasonable. Last but not least, the staff is very professional and offer a top notch customer experience.
For being associated with Hilton, I was surprised how low-quality overall my stay felt. It doesn't appear that anything in the hotel has been updated for years, it had a very old and musty feel to it. It is located in a strange industrial type area across the street from a mall with very little walk-to activities. Food in the restaurant was sub-par at best. Hotel smelled like dust and perfume-y air fresheners.
I’m a Hilton Gold member treated worse than non Hilton Honors members. I was here for a basketball tournament so checked in with others parents from the team. Although, as a so called Gold Hilton Honors member, I was supposed to receive an upgraded room if available, but I was not given one. Instead, a parent checking in after me was given a much nicer room with a fridge and microwave. At the end of the weekend another parent who was not a Hilton honors member called in and asked for an extended checkout and got 2 pm, so I called the front desk right afterwards and asked for an extended checkout. I was told they were only giving until 12 noon; I pressed them that I was a gold member and still only given 12 noon. So much for this successful loyalty program. This hotel has severe deferred maintenance. The bathtub stopper didn’t work. The maintenance man came, saw that the mechanical stopper didn’t work and brought in a bath plug. We had to leave for a game. When we came back, no bath plug and stopper still didn’t work. After another call and long wait a subsequent maintenance worker came late night and repaired the mechanical stopper. The best part of this hotel was the waitstaff at the restaurant. They were wonderful, especially an older waitress I think named Diana or Deeana. This is a 2.5-3 star hotel at best. Too bad. It has potential but needs improvement and better management.
Not so much...
Although the staff was friendly and helpful, the overall cleanliness of this hotel is lacking. The common areas (hallways, elevators, etc.) were shopworn and not clean. I would not stay here again even though the price was reasonable.
The parking is inconvenient particularly upon arrival. It is difficult to sleep because the Rooms need better circulation and air purification. Otherwise, the service and accommodations are excellent.
