    Very Disappointed

We were originally booked at the Grand Paraiso in Playa Del Carmen and that resort was closed due to the pandemic- At first, Iberostar was going to give us a full refund but after reading the reviews, we decided we would give it a go. The resort is small and very nice- The rooms were big and wonderful- Just very plain due to the COVID- The beach was nice and pool was great. The service and drinks were fantastic- So why the rating so low- It was all about the food- For what we paid for this vacation, and the fact I have stayed at several other Grand Iberostar-The Coral did not hold a candle to any other Iberostar. The Breakfast was great- Lunch Buffet was average at best- I went over to the Selection Iberostar- there were more choices and a bigger buffet. The Japanese Restaurant was not good- the rice was overcooked and chicken welldone. The Italian Restaurant -I had order the Lasagna it was cold. My husband food was also cold. The Steakhouse, was wonderful- best onion rings and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Room Service was a nightmare- never received any items we ordered. Will I go back to Iberostar- yes but not the Coral Level- if you want a average resort then this is your place- If you want a luxury resort make sure you book a "Grand" resort with the Iberostar.

Wonderful stay at Coral Level Cancun!

My husband and I just left Coral Level Iberostar and I feel compelled to share our joy. The resort is following all COVID protocols - temperature checks, hand sanitizer at every turn, masks requested in hallways and elevators, rooms and resort were EXTREMELY clean and well sanitized - actually, there were constantly cleaning 24/7! All rooms are very large, face the ocean, have a large balcony with both table & chairs AND a tub! The rooms on the top floor actually have a spiral stairway to their own rooftop hideout with outdoor shower, plunge pool and lounge seating!! There is only 1 restaurant at the Coral Level but the food is very good and you can also eat at all the restaurants at Iberostar Selection Resort which is connected (but family friendly). Because the resort is small and the country is only allowing 50% occupancy, there were few people there and we really felt like royalty at our own private resort. We enjoyed meeting the other guests who were from all over the world as well. The entertainment and activities were well planned out, allowing us to keep socially distant but still have fun. We participated in Stretch Class, Yoga, Cocktail making class, water aerobics, and more - all were outside. One night they had a "Pink Party" night and the show was amazing! We would definitely recommend Coral Level Iberostar!

Wow what an amazing entertainment team at Coral Level!!

Rooms are stunning with a Ocean front view. Food and drinks were amazing, pool are is great, most of the restaurant are at the Iberostar Selection Cancun, a few steps of the hotel but all of them were great, my favorite American Bristo. Corona virus (Covid 19) protocols are the best, you will feel safe there. Wow what an amazing entertainment team at Coral Level!! Franco, Carlos and Albin went out of their way to ensure we were having the best time possible, not only did they ensure we knew about the daily entertainment but also made sure our drinks were filled and we were taken care of. Very personable team, we will definitely be coming back! Congratulations to your team!! Make an extra start to your hotel.

    Done with Iberostar!

My wife and I booked Iberostar grand pariso last march for our anniversary and we were excited to try the place. We had stayed at the grands in dominican and jamaica and loved them! A week before our stay we got an email saying that the grand paraiso was closed and we had to go next door at a lesser resort. We decided to go to coral level instead, based on the great reviews and equal price point for same type of room. I was leary of the reviews because almost all of coral levels "reviewers" have only one review. Humm. When we arrived we were disappointed within minutes. Checked out the buffet and it looked terrible with few options and no seafood but some small shrimp. So we had a burger at the pool grill and it was so dry and over cooked that I couldn't eat it. Went to the lobby bar for a drink and was told that the top shelf rums would be $17. Top shelf at the Grands was always included. Three hours after we arrived we told the guy trying to sell us a timeshare or something that we were not happy after he told us that all the "nice" restaurants reservations were full for our stay. He contacted a manager who told us that he would speak to his boss and that we were going to be happy. After dinner he stopped as and told us the equivalent of "tuff" on our complaints. He did get us reservations to the steakhouse, the Japanese and the Italian restaurants for next 3 nights. He also said we were going to get a "Big Surprise" on our anniversary. Service was good. Loved Jacob, Franco and Nelson at the beach and the waitstaff around the pool. Freddie at the lobby bar was also great. BUT, our last night there we were hungry because we didn't enjoy dinner and ordered room service. After an hour, I called and they said "our system broke and we would get you your food in 20 more mins. I said forget it! Our room was a corner suite and its was huge, almost too big because it was long and thin. Room was hot and you couldn't turn it down. We called about it but got nothing. Other guests were complaining about the same thing. A great view from the balcony, but the resort next door was super loud and we couldn't take a nap in the afternoon after a day in the sun. Get a room on the other side of the hotel or bring earplugs! The japanese restaurant was not good. Cook was so busy trying to make shapes out of our fried rice, shrimp, chicken and beef that all were over cooked. No sauces to help with the dryness. The italian was on our anniversary...terrible! We got the steak, the snapper and the lasagna. All came out cold. My steak was tuff as a boot. Wife's fish was "fishy". The lasagna was good but cold. Oh well. We did go back to our room to find our "Big Surprise". An actual $4.03 retail, bottle of sparkling wine....whoohoo! We got a laugh out of that one! The steakhouse was our [only] favorite. Everything we had was great. Three apps. [mushrooms, onion rings and mac and cheese], my filet and the wife's chicken were perfectly cooked. Now the wines. All of the restaurants had just cheap house wines [the ones I looked up were $4 or $5 retail] on the all inclusive. All other wines were uncharged and unlike all the "reviewers", there is no better wines for the "star prestige" that we paid extra for. The black footed, jamon iberico [ham leg], I was looking so forward to, because I have had it many times in spain and Iberostar Grands. It's featured in all their pictures of coral level buffet ended up just being a display. I ate it the first night and it didn't taste right and also looked machine cut [needs special training to properly cut a $2000 ham]. In the 4 days we were there, the new ham was never cut into but slices "showed up" daily. Also it was at the buffet at reg iberostar, not coral level. To sum up, the only difference in the coral level and the far cheaper iberostar next door is a hot, loud room with a great view....Not worth $500 a night.
