The Coral was perfect for us
We normally prefer to explore different hotels when we go back to an area, and our first stay in Cancun was at the Coral Level. So on our 2nd trip we stayed at the FACC (Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun) but though the FACC is a very nice hotel we really missed the VIP experience we received at the Coral, the quality and condition of the rooms and the entire hotel and the superior food selection. At the Coral they made sure we got reasturant reservations, and they did not have long lines to get into resteruants. We also really liked that there were a lot of cool indoor spaces. Right from the moment we got to the hotel we experienced at greater level of service, starting with the golf cart tour thru the resort to our room. Right away we had information on where things are and what there is to do. They even allowed to day visit other Iberostar resorts in Playa De Carmen, which also included food and drink. So this time we are going back to the Coral, because we know we will get a quiet Ocean Front room (they all are) incredible views and a totally private balcony with tub. My only wishes are that they had butter (not mantequilla or worse) and Chardonnay by the glass at all the venues (you can order bottles) I should also mention they have an amazing international food selection at the buffets
Restaurants need improvement
Stayed at Coral Level for a week, September 2022. Location of the hotel is fantastic with all rooms facing the sea. You have your own check in desk etc, seperate to the Selection hotel area. Breakfast buffet at Coral was fantastic, very attentive service by the waiters. Mimosa drinks were very nicely appreciated. Pool area was never overcrowded, but there was a distinct lack of umbrellas, so if you were early enough to poolside, you got an umbrella. Hotel needs to sort this out, especially on the beach. Biggest disappointment were the speciality restaurants. The La Parrilla Steakhouse was terrible, so bad we walked out, as they didn't have any of the exclusive Coral Level dishes. Food was cold and sides were totally overcooked. The Mexican Restaurant was very disappointing. I'm sorry, but if you can't get Mexican food right in Mexico then you're in trouble!! Japanese and Italian were great, no complaints. La Barca dinner was superb, you could sit outside on the pool facing terrace which was lovely, and service was good. Overall, a lovely hotel with great rooms, just let down by some of the restaurants.
Went with my partner and we both hated this hotel, it is not a 5 star hotel!! Staff was nice and friendly but food was horrible, boring activities, felt more like a Senior living home than a hotel. Japanese restaurant was the worst, undercooked rice, overcooked meat, tasteless chicken and fish. Food at the buffet was Ok but not what a 5 star hotel offers. Drinks/Alcohol are Watered Down!! a lot!! I found plastic in one of my drinks! We met other couples who complaint about the food as well. Show was meh to bad, no activities or good events. Music was good but repetitive in the pool, Show singers would come to sing in the middle of the day at the pool area that made you fall asleep. You could listen to next door hotel music and events and seem to be way better. Locals were selling weed and drugs in the beach and would come offering to the guest seating in the hotel beach area. Although you can take the local bus to downtown, it's far from downtown (5minutes in bus, 50min walking) or Cancun town (30minutes in Uber or Taxi). Beware with Taxis as they overcharge, Uber is not fully allowed in Cancun as Taxis are against it.
Guadalupe, Israel and Adai made our girls trip amazing! Attention to detail on the beach with great service! We never had to ask for anything, service was non stop outstanding! Even with the rain, our needs were met
Positively outrageous service
Guadalupe, Israel and Adai AMAZING SERVICE! Treated us all like we were so special! Will come back because of them. So attentive and Guadalupe came in early to make sure we had our favorite spot on the beach
