    It is a great place to spend time with friends. We had an incredible vacation there. Definitely an excellent option to get out of the routine, make friends and see new places. Angel the guy at the reception, excellent attention. Everything was great, thank you very much!

    Truly an exceptional experience, thanks to Jesus

    Our stay at Barceló Bávaro Beach was already off to a fantastic start, but what made it truly unforgettable was the outstanding hospitality of Jesús Etiene, the guest experience specialist. From the moment we arrived, Jesús went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not only comfortable but genuinely memorable. Every day, he personally checked in with us—always with a warm smile and a kind, sincere approach. He made us feel genuinely welcome, like we were part of the Barceló family rather than just guests. Whether it was offering helpful tips, checking in on any needs, or simply taking the time to chat, Jesús consistently showed a level of care and attentiveness that’s hard to come by. Thanks to him, our visit was more than we could’ve hoped for. Barceló is lucky to have someone like Jesús on their team—he turned a great resort experience into something truly special. We’ll absolutely be back and hope to see Jesús again!

    Save your money

    OK – let me start by saying I have never written a poor review for a resort, simply due to the fact that I am so grateful to have a break and get away. The resort itself is beautiful and I love that we can bounce back-and-forth between the adult resort and the family resort just the golf cart ride away. Let’s begin. I booked one of the premium rooms. To this day I have absolutely no idea what was different other than the check-in process. When you arrive they sweep you away to a room that has some light snacks and you can sit in the air conditioning while they check you in. That’s it. It’s definitely not worth the additional cost of premium. I had paid in full prior to our arrival however, when I got to the premium lounge, they handed me a bill. It took 30 minutes before they realized their mistake and then shortly after gave me my room key and a folded piece of paper with what should have been perks. We were then ushered to our room. We knew nothing. After a quick refresh, we had it back to the premium lounge to ask for some direction. We were told about the dinner reservations, of which we could not get one. Seriously, not a single dinner reservation was available the entire five days we would be there unless you want to eat dinner after 9:30. How is that even possible? We went over to the restaurant we were told was always open without a reservation. We assumed it was just the inhouse restaurant-nothing fancy. The waitress told us to have a seat anywhere and then came and took our drink order. The view was stunning. There was virtually no one there. We were on a patio that was right up to the beach. We sat there for a full 30 minutes before I asked for a menu and we were told that it was a buffet and they pointed us across the patio, inside the restaurant, inside double glass doors to the buffet. Again, how in the world would we know that? no direction. Listen, I can literally eat anything. I am the least picky eater you will ever meet however this food was just awful. Every pan we were scraping the bottom of food that looked like it had sat out for hours. We went back to the premium lounge and were greeted by Daniel, he was truly the only great thing about our stay. We told him about our conundrum with not being able to get a reservation and he worked his magic and got us one. Just one. But hey, it was better than having the buffet every day. My boyfriend put on some khaki shorts, a button up polo and some loafers and we went over to dinner. Get this – you are not allowed in the restaurant if you are not wearing pants! Pants! We were denied entry, however, ended up at a buffet at the palace and their food was delicious. Let’s jump ahead because I don’t want this review to be insanely long. We only received turndown service two of the four nights that we stayed. One day we didn’t receive room service at all. I had to ask for water twice as it wasn’t being restocked. If you book any tours that are not through the hotel, they make you take a cab to the gate and they are not friendly about it. The room service is not free. We called to confirm and it's actually quite costly for what you can order. The worst of the worst-I am going to tell this story. We woke up early to go walk to the breakfast buffet. The maintenance staff was cleaning around the pool dumping down some chemicals and washing it off. They stepped back so we could pass. As we passed, my boyfriend slipped where they had been scrubbing and went down on his knee. NO ONE moved. Not a single soul moved to help him. Not the two maintenance men that were standing there and not the hostess that was standing just a few paces in front of the buffet. A guest at the hotel hurried to help me get him up. We skipped breakfast and went straight back to the room to look at his leg. I grabbed the ice bucket, no bags. I grabbed a shopping bag from a purchase we had made and went to the ice machine. No ice. I called down to the front desk and explained what had happened and asked for a large Band-Aid for his busted knee and some ice to be brought to the room. They told me they don’t do that and transferred me to another department. I told the story again and asked if they would bring me some ice. They told me no but I could come down and get it!!! It takes a lot to get me upset, but this was truly the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I went down to the premium lounge and met with Daniel once again. He profusely apologized and ice and Band-Aids were sent up to our room within minutes. That day, and half of the next were shot. We iced his hip and knee off and on for the next several hours and not one person came to check on him. Customer service is everything and this place by far was a huge disappointment. It’s so discouraging that we saved for this. This was his birthday. Again, we are simple people, and it doesn’t take much to make us happy so for me to write such a bad review-it’s that bad.

    Mediocre Vacation

    Non eventful mediocre place and time. If you feel nostalgic of cheep motels in Miami circa 1975, welcome to paradise. God help you if get stuck in their average room that have not been remodeled since the opening of he place. The "upscale" upgrade rooms are much better and just safer.
