    Good Experience with Some Detractors

The food choice and quality are excellent. The vast majority of the staff in all positions are friendly and helpful. The landscaping is suberb and staff are constantly cleaning. The beachfront room was comfortable and spacious. Although a la carte restaurants were supposedly available each night, on arrival I was informed that most were fully booked. Repeated visits to the desk provided the same response. It seems that the staff who never smile and have not had lessons in customer service are assigned to this job which basically requires them to say that everything is fully booked so get lost. We did manage to get two bookings. Our balcony light did not work and after three attempts to get it working, we gave up. The servers around the pool were wonderful as were most servers and staff in the buffets. We had one excellent a la carte experience in Picasso. Our server Xavier was excellent. Being asked to keep your used knife and fork for the next course was very tacky in another restaurant. I have stayed in the Grand side and the Luxury side and in my opinion the better option. Overall, a mixed review with more on the positive side.

    Great Service

The customer service was excellent, the employees had a strike when I went, however this did not affect the service provided by the skeletal staff that remains after the strike . The food was great also, I’ve been to other hotel before and this is the best food I’ve had so far.

    Had high hopes

Eagerly anticipated our stay here. The YouTube video we watched prior showed some pretty amazing things, shows, golf course, amazing restaraunts. Couldn’t wait to arrive. Our plane arrived at noon figuring we’d have plenty of time to get to the resort and enjoy the beach before the sun went down. After finally hopping onto our shuttle, it took over a hour to get to the resort, with a lengthy wait for our room…let’s just say our first day was spent out of the sun and sand. And I know this part was just this man doing his job but it wasted more of our time, he thoroughly showed us everything in our room, right down to the obvious things…I was getting kind of annoyed that this part took so long. Thinking we could go down and grab something to eat after a long travel day we walked up to the las Olas (also the Rodizio) at first they told us there were only 2 minutes left of serving time. Starving my husband was like we’ll Be quick we’re starving, the man behind the podium happily agreed since we hadn’t eaten all day. Didn’t expect much with it being the end of mealtime. The next morning we got up a little later than normal, and was worried we wouldn’t get any beach chairs, boy were we wrong, we were the only ones out there even as it approached 930 am only one couple showed up, I loved that since at other resorts all The good chairs are usually taken around 7 am. We did manage to get in some reservations for some restaurants during our stay, the first being Picasso. Pay close attention to food times, sometimes there are signs posted of any change other times you may get there and they’ll no longer be serving. The Picasso and staff were absolutely amazing! We got there a little early for our reservation time but we were able to get right in. The specialty drink “Angel kiss” was the perfect start, I don’t normally care for gin but this was delicious. The food that followed just made my heart happy, the broccoli soup was the very best I’d ever eaten, so creamy and delightful! My entree was the seafood festival…calamari, shrimp, etc. all melted in my mouth. And the very best saved for last was the red velvet cake…I’d never in my life tasted a red velvet cake so good. Our waitress was so wonderful and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed at all times. The next day was everything BUT pleasant…aside from spending the morning on the beach with a Bob Marley in my hand which is everything I asked for for this trip. The night time took a turn for the worst. Upon our arrival for our reservation for the Rodizio (Brazilian Steakhouse) we were told that all of the restaraunts were on strike, every single one of them, except the buffet which everyone who had reversions prior flocked to. Don’t get me wrong, the staff at the buffet did their very best to accommodate us all, but would’ve liked a heads up email explaining the situation and what their plans were in fixing it, the restaraunts at resorts are usually one of the main attractions for people after all. Nothing was said, nothing was done to rectify. The next day after being out we returned to our room where we discovered water leaking from the room above ours all over our bathroom floor, we called down to the desk and explained what was happening they said they’d send someone up, no one came before we headed out for another uncertain dinner. Lucky for us The Mikado had staff working. The Mikado is Hibachi food with seafood steak chicken and Sushi. The host Antony was fantastic! He kept us all engaged the entire time, even learned all of our names. The Hibachi Chef was also good at what he does, made some amazing food for us. No complaints here. Later that evening we entered our room to a dirty mess in the bathroom from whoever came in to check the leak. Left a metal hose of some sort, don’t know where it came from or why it was there, the floor was a dirty wet mess, it just felt gross in there since we didn’t know if the water was coming from the upstairs toilet or shower or whatever, I felt like I couldn’t even go in there without shoes on, so unsanitary. Since it was too late to ask that our room be cleaned we turned in for the night and decided to put the “please clean sign” on our door. We returned after the cleaning ladies had gone by and I was excited to have a clean room again. Only to just have the sign on our door be turned and no cleaning had be done whatsoever. No fresh towels, our bathroom was still a mess and we had plates from room service on our table still. I was not impressed by this in the least. After realizing our room was never going to be touched again before our departure we decided to request a different room altogether…no such luck, said they were full. Don’t get me wrong on this resort because everything was not terrible by any means. We loved the beach area and the break wall, kept all Of the waves out and gave us an opportunity to view the beautiful fish and sea life in the shallow waters. Ou waiters and waitresses were pleasant up until the strike happened. Always asked how they could help. I like that our room Key was a part of our bracelets we wore for the duration of our stay, super convenient. Overall it was a nice resort, customer service needs to be perked up, or at the very least some kick backs for guests having not so good time.
