Swim Up pool view vs garden view

Arrived with 75 guests for my daughters destination wedding. Although she decided to marry off site. My really only complaint with this hotel and Air Transat is the misleading info on the Air Transat app and booking that says junior suite swim up pool view. When we arrived we got our swim up pool room but it faced the outside of the hotel staring directly at construction workers working on a new build. I went back and spoke to 3 different levels of reception employee's. I was told my room is pool view even though it faced the outside of the building away from where the main pool is. I said ok move me directly across the hall then. He said no that is garden view even though there is (see the photo below) a very similar swim up pool at those rooms. After 10 minutes of them pretending that everything is fine I said what do I have to pay to get to a better room closer to the main pool. As soon as I said that his English became amazing and he said "Now I can help you". I paid the upgrade and got the room I wanted. After discussing this with the hotel and Air Transat through a few emails, I have found them both to be dishonest about the situation. Claiming that the garden view is more expensive even though my sister in law was on the garden side and paid the exact same amount. She knew ahead of time though to book an odd number room if on the south side of the resort and even number if on the north side. Anyways once that first day was done the resort was good with lots of restaurant choices. I also wanted to recognize my butler Angel who did a great job for me after. the reception manager though! Working on commission so not so nice unless you upgrade!

Good Choice for a Family Trip

A good choice for an all inclusive family (with children) trip. The water park is big and kept our son entertained. Overall, food was good, service great.

A Relaxing Experience With Lots Of Food

Everything was great. Staff was working around the clock to maintain the property. Beach had seaweed at this time of year but there were some spots that were cleared for swimming. Still seaweed in the water but that’s beyond the resort’s control. The beach was clean otherwise, with lots of loungers and umbrellas. There was a net set up for volleyball. Pool area also has lots of loungers, music and bars. Clean pool towels always available near the beach. Lots of places to swim and the lazy river is fun. A basketball net inside one of the pools and a shallow area for little kids. A show and dancing with a DJ every evening. Super fun and I don’t even like dancing. One dance party was on the beach. There are a few pool tables and an area for kids and teens. There’s hair braiding and henna on the beach (for a cost). Kids enjoyed the ice cream shop and 24 hour cafe. There’s also a place with burgers and hot dogs and a little taco truck if you want a snack between meals. I took bananas and apples from the buffet to have for snacks later. And you can go to the 24 hour gym which is quiet in the evenings but busy in the mornings. Steakhouse has an impossible burger for vegans if you’re into that, otherwise lots of fruit, veggies and beans at the buffet. Kids had burgers and steak and enjoyed it. The tomato soup at Capers is delicious and the kids enjoyed the bread, pasta and cannoli very much. The buffet has something for everyone. If you’re plant based you’ll be able to eat there no problem. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies and a vegan station at the buffet during lunch and dinner with impossible burger and sausage. I don’t eat fake meat but they had several bean options and hummus so it was fine. The eggplant stew in the Dominican section was my favourite cooked veggie option. Put that and some beans on a potato with a giant salad and you’re good to go. Oatmeal to have for breakfast with lots of toppings. Some fresh veg, beans and fruit on the side. The coffee is tasty and not bitter. I was able to drink it black and enjoy it. The coffee at the cafe is a bit stronger but they have plant based milk or regular milk for you. I ate the same way I do at home with the exception of a little more oil than I’m used to in the cooked food and dressings, but I was okay with that during vacation and went back to my regular low oil meals upon returning home. For people who eat animal products, they make omelettes and eggs fresh for you, waffles, crepes, ham, bacon, doughnuts, hash browns … it’s all there. Lots of desserts, stews and meat options for lunch and dinner. They have an assortment of breads and deli items, pasta station, huge salad bar and more. There’s a section for kids with finger type food. If you want to play I spy, check the trees for tiny lizards. There was also a very friendly cat and lots of little birds. Staff is friendly and hard working. We had a great experience. I would go back.
